I am new to your channel and have been working out the last few years and have not seen any significant results. I am learning a lot of issues… low protein, a lot of cardio, poor sleep, menopause, etc. I am excited now, so I pray your education works for me and I can STOP wasting my precious time.
It does work. It's a better approach long term. So happy for you. I've been a listener for a year and like you I'm in my perimetops stage of life. It's taken me about a year to get rid of the bad habits. ❤ Just keep listening and they'll help you get to a better place.
All I can say. I started out when I was 17 years old. I have read the encyclopedia of body building book 3 times in my life. But I was on and off for decades. I was really consistent in 2017-2020 but then the shutdown happened. Got back on it in 2022- till the present. I didn't start full-body workout until I started listening to the podcast. It took 4 months. Did my own programming. Then I got MAPS anabolic. My wife and I started. We the prephrase for three weeks and then phrase one for three weeks. I pulled I went from a 65 pound Squat. I have spine issues why I started low. Went to 245. Bench press went from 115 to 195 Deadlift. 135 to 295
I promise if you follow all their advice you will see amazing results and feel amazing. If you remove the uncertainty you only need discipline, which it sounds like you have! Enjoy feeling awesome!
This is easily the best fitness podcast in the space. I’ve never heard anyone discuss this concept of why and where different exercises provide specific value in terms of where the movement is the hardest. It’s so refreshing vs just the clickbait garbage out there. Thank you guys ❤
I have been doing cardio most of my life, into cycling. Never cared about protein. Two months ago, I started to eat more protein, couldn’t feel any better - not hungry all the time and skin and hair improved. So I finally made it to the gym last week. If someone was watching me, it must have been a pretty good entertainment. Was slightly confused where to start, then decided to do squats…looked so easy. While people were putting more weights on, I was taking it down. Could barely hold my balance with just the barbell. It was sure an unforgettable experience but cannot wait to go back. Love your show, great real conversations!
@user-ml5zm9fb1m I would bet that you can generate a lot more force than you can currently apply. You will likely improve very quickly as you learn to stabilize the weight. Mind Pump has some technique videos as well that may help with getting the cues right on performing the squat.
@@NFSox Thanks. Yeah I have been watching some videos to learn the proper technique and have also tried some other types of squats. Unfortunately, it’s really painful to have the barbell on my neck.
Mindpump is the go to for this kind of info. Best in the business. I love Squat University as well. But as far as a fitness podcast, these guys are at the top by themselves.
By far on of the best group of guys in this space. Authenticity is hard to find these days in a world where people are more concerned with being PC than speaking their mind. You guys are honest with your callers Q&As and I appreciate that. Willing to challenge others truly shows how much you guys care about improving others. Keep it up! Love how much content you guys create!
We started audio books at bed time for the kids using an app then played thru a kids Amazon Alexia and it has been a game changer, our boy (8) has adhd and has hard time settling down and staying in bed. Now most nights he listens for his allotted time and falls asleep or just come out to say goodnight again and falls asleep.
Thanks for the show. Lost 70+ lbs in weight, started a reverse diet based on symptoms I was having and watching another MP podcast and been lifting 3xdays a week. Very helpful information from you guys.
Years ago I lost a lot of weight by burning myself out until my hormones were so messed up I couldn’t workout without feeling extreme rage afterward. I stopped working out all together… three years and a knee surgery later I’m just finally getting back to lifting and I just so appreciate your content. I’ve gone down a rabbit hole listening to 3-4 podcasts a day for weeks now and I’ve learned SO much!
I can't yell you guys enough how great this podcast is. You addressing mental health and suggesting to callers to seek therapy is just priceless to me. Mental health is wither ignored completely or seems to be woo woo and everyone seems to be in therapy. Mental health is not meant to be taken lightly. It truly affects everything. Keep up the great work you all are doing because it's changing people's lives for the better. Blessings. 🙏
I’m 23 and have been listening to y’all for about 2-3 years. Y’all are the reason I’m confident answering questions for people about their fitness and health concerns.
I really like what you had said to the listen call #3. I relate to how she feels about not looking a certain way for her career. I will be graduating this December in health and wellness promotion and I'm working on my NASM cert right now as well. This whole process started to take better care of myself back in 2018 and I still struggle with the weight, but I have come such a long way. Like her, I feel such a pressure to have my outward appearance reflect my knowledge as that is what's judged when meeting someone for the first time and if I know my shit. I have yet to change careers and start working with clients in this field, so I am extremely nervous about how to handle that if I can't make enough progress on my outward appearance by then. Thank you for comforting her about her saying she felt embarrassed, I really needed to hear this for myself today.
Hearing Caitlin’s story really touched me, bc my story is very similar. Your advice to seek therapy, to get to the root of happiness/sadness based on the number on the scale…wow. I wish I had done this earlier in my journey. It has been almost 3 years for me, down over a hundred lbs. The scale was an addiction of sorts for me. Sometimes weighing multiple times per day. Feeling literally sick when it went up. I weigh the same today as I did last May, and I wear 2 sizes smaller in my clothes. I FINALLY don’t stress about the number on the scale anymore. Now focusing on how I feel physically and mentally, which is pretty amazing! Thank you for this reminder of how far I’ve come. Caitlin, you can do it too ❤
Excellent advice to both young women…I love that you guys address holistic wellness. Therapy is amazing, it makes personal growth go so much faster. I’ve learned so much and have a new perspective on fitness.
Caitlin(Katelyn?), her story is so relatable. I'm trusting you guys the way you want her to trust. I'm feeling so frustrated and fat, but I'm continuing to lift and gradually increase my calories. I'm getting stronger, and my weight isn't going up, so I think I'm on the right track. I want to cut so badly, but I'm trying to stay patient. I trust that the cut will ultimately be easy and sustainable.
Hi 👋 I’m a new subscriber. I’m really enjoying binge watching this channel. I’m 50 years old and have worked out since my mid 20s. My arm’s started to get mushy recently and I was soooo discouraged because I’ve never stopped working out. Your advice has started to turn things around for me and I’m so excited!!! I had been doing intermittent fasting since 2013. I was definitely not getting enough protein or nutrients for my body’s needs. In just 1 week of taking your advice on protein/ nutrition/ sleep and compound exercises, I can see I’m headed in the right direction. And here I thought I had to accept the fact that I’m getting older and deal with it. Not so, it’s never too late to build muscle. I’m seeing results. Thank you gentlemen for your fantastic and effective advice! I truly appreciate it. 💪🏼💪🏼
Been starting MAPS symmetry and man it’s a game changer. Never realized how unbalanced I was and it’s been great attacking those weak points. Love the show and keep up the great work guys!
I swear I will always tell my family, friends and loved ones about mind pump! I’ve never learned this much helpful info and tips until I started listening to you guys. You’re not only incredibly helpful, you’re also inspiring and hilarious. Keep it up guys!
@Ro_gains Winner! Please email: ann@mindpumpmedia.com with a screenshot of your youtube username, winning episode number, and the email address you would like the program under and we will get you hooked up!
You guys don’t tell your callers and us what we want to hear but rather what we need to hear-and in a way they and we can hear it. And this is why I continue to tune in and truly listen to what you say because you have your audience’s best interest at heart and are committed to helping people achieve long-term change and health. When I start to doubt the process and begin to want to abandon ship on my training, nutrition, etc., I hear your guys’ advice battle against my negative self-talk. And you guys’ voices are louder, and I am listening to you and will keep listening. Thank you guys so much!
I am 52 and working out for years and you all have blown my ind with such truth for REAL fitness and what it means to be healthy. I put in 5 pounds of muscle in January when I simply focused on protein, rest and calories. Thank you🙏🙏🙏 May God bless you!
Been listening to you all since there were four of you….. and I go crazy when I’m caught up on all of your episodes. Waiting for the next drop is not easy! Love your content, you guys are the absolute best! Thank you for helping me work hard to get strong wirh you guys 😊
I really appreciate the show; I’ve learned a lot of nutrition tips, and currently doing the Anabolic workout. I’ve never experienced faster strength gains!!
I’ve been stumbling on the fringes of this idea for a while now. I’ve been trying to explain this concept to my bf who I’m helping to train and you guys just made it so simple. Thank you! Now I have a much better understanding of this concept
I am learning the importance of a reload week and eating the right foods. After 8 weeks of hard work and good gains. I just kind of hit a wall. Monday of this week I took some weight off the bar and fewer reps. Today 5 days later I already feel better and more ready. I will continue to take it easy today rest the weekend and go back full at it on Monday. I gained size on my arms and neck went to 17 inch arms and 19 inch neck both up about a 1/2 inch since summer. Can't measure my shoulder so accurately because I didn't measure them before I started. But I have worked my shoulders hard and put them first in the workouts. My T-shirts fit so tight around the arms and shoulders I had to up size those. Now I have my Chest first and Arms second followed by the shoulders and back.
Hi, I am new to your podcast and have really been enjoying it. I heard about you guys through John Delony. I have now subscribed to notifications and listen daily. I have been a yo-yo dieter and love the advice you guys give. I enjoy lifting weights, not doing cardio, and eating protein. So I'm in on giving it all a try. I'm in my early 50's and would like to lose about 30lbs and build some muscle. I have lifted weights along with cardio on and off. I'm not sure which of your programs I should start with but ready to give it a try. Thank you for all you guys do!!
I watch your shows for the health/fitness content, but love hearing about how excited you are about your kids. My boys are teenagers now, but so many of your stories bring up great memories with my kids. Thanks for that! One more thing. My kids loved the leapfrog books too. For actually starting them reading, we had a lot of luck using the Bob Books. I know how bad video games are, but I would tell my son he had to read two Bob Books with me before I would play the games with him. It worked great to get him to strlart reading. :)
Thank you so much for the amazing advice you give, you have no idea how invaluable this information is. The way you approached the first caller was the best I’ve ever heard. It hit me right in the feels, I have such a similar story to that girl. Growing up with a mom who projected her body insecurities on me, and put me on crash diets from a young age set me up for a lifetime of struggling with my relationship with food and my body. I’m so grateful to have found your podcast, it has genuinely been such a breath of fresh air.
Ive learned so much from listening to you, and I’ve been able to transform my body, and my life! I’ve never thought about loading all three parts of a muscle.. Now we need an episode on how to do this for each body part 😁
I fully enjoyed the first caller and Adam’s response. I saw where Sal was going and the 2 go hand in hand. We must address the emotional/patterns as we address the nutrition. Thank you for this and for suggesting the recommendation of calories above 2000 which is so taboo for women. I have women who were 1200 and below and now we are 1900 and the never ever thought they could eat this much. It’s so amazing and it creates a healthy place to cut. Thank you so much for all of your knowledge wisdom and for sharing your experiences with us I’ve learned so much from you guys and you’ve made me a better trainer. I really hope someday you put together a coaching training program for those of us who own our own studios not to say gymlaunch isn’t great, but I don’t agree with a lot of how they go about rolling out their programs and I am not about 6-week challenges. So frustrating we need a program that helps us generate leads and still individual lies people and trains people with strong integrity. I appreciate you guys so much !!!!!❤
Hi guys. been following you guys fir ages. first time commenting...(wont be the last) Im currently in the gym.. chest day... never before thought of mid, stretch, squeeze... giving it a go now.. feeling more consciously aware of my muscles and different parts of the same muscle getting worked. 49 year old dad of 2 focusing more and more on health.. thanks for everything you guys do... your my goto channel .💪💪💪💪 😎😎😎
I like what you guys said about recruiting other muscles. I notice when I do compound lifts that my whole body is under tension. I have a running joke with my buddies that my arms are always sore after I squat!
Hi Sal, Justin and Adam - I am your #1 fan here in Atlanta, GA! I am a trainer and highly value all the incredible content the 3 of you freely share each week. Thank you for your 3 day class for trainers - I ate it up! QUESTION For Y'all - first caller question and response - I believe in this approach, although have not experienced it personally or professionally (yet) the reverse diet. Question 1 - do you use this approach only for those who have yo-yo dieted for years or do you have other types of people and nutritional situations that would also benefit? #2 Is reverse dieting affected in any way if one is on medications or multiple medications - ie - blood pressure meds, diabetic meds, hormones to name a few. I have encountered many clients who are on at least 2 medications. Does it interfere with shedding fat. They are strength training at least 2x/week and getting in hiit and or cardio. What are your thoughts and experiences with clients over the years? Sal - I absolutely loved your method of responding to her question and concerns - you validated her experiences, and you recognize to ask the hard questions about her "WHY" - why do you want to lose the weight - is it really about the weight? I am currently working on a program to offer with strength training that will assist people in the direction to their "Why." Thank you, Sal, Justin and Adam for guiding trainers in this profession as it can be a bit lonely and unsupported.
Really love your message! So different than anything I had heard before. I'm so grateful to have found it. Please keep it up! I'm making that transition from an aimless gym wanderer to a more disciplined lifter. Your advice has been foundational to that shift.
Thanks for all the great info and advice. I always look forward to seeing what you're going to be talking about. Thanks also for staying true to yourselves and your beliefs. That value is so lacking at this time.
Love watching you guys. I’m trying to get back into my fitness and you guys are making me believe I CAN do this and I can do it differently than all the other times I’ve tried and that I can keep it off for good this time. The real way. Thank you for being you.
Maybe that's why Arnold once said• it's very crucial to pose after an exercise. You should be able to flex and see the muscle you're working on getting pumped up! I wish I could see my mind whenever I watch MindPump, you guys, must be double it's normal size from the Pump!
Really excited to have found you guys. Picked up Sal’s book and started chomping on that. Started weight loss 1.5 years ago. Male 5’8” was 230 got down to 185 doing CrossFit and diet. Then the holidays hit. I stayed in the diet mostly but didn’t work out as much. Been trending upward since then. I LOVE my CrossFit community. But, I’m starting to think it’s not the right fit.
Is there any way you guys could share Katelyn’s forum updates with us on the podcasts. She is very easy to root for and I hope she gets it figured out.
Dost thou even hoist brother? But for real you guys are amazing, through your guidance I've completely changed my health and physique, and now I've got my wife eating more calories and packing on muscle too! 💪
Former sunny LA guy now in the south, I can say the unholy cicadas season is not of this world ! I believe it's every summer the vile hiss /humming sound echoes from morning to night . I can't even imagine the sadistic plague of the new brood of trillions that will appear this year 💀😵🪲
New to the podcast…..love the interaction and insights. I have to ask: Am I wasting my time teaching Les Mills BodyPump, in terms of building strength and gaining an athletic strong body? Have been teaching Pump since 2010, although coming back from the pandemic, I really enjoy lifting from the floor. Please recommend a program for me…..I have periodic hip pain, front and/or back of hip, possibly piriformis pain, that varies according to my activity level.
