Damn, I've got a ko factory spec on order and this one s really scaring the crap out of me about KO quality. Might need to cancel... Is there a controller you'd recommend?
I don't have them yet, next week they supposedly arrive. If you want, just hold off. Stop your KO order for now and worst case you buy a KO Pro later. Once I have a good look at an EBMX, I'll do multiple videos on it like I did for the KO Pro and I'll show everything I find in them! From pics only and what I know already about the functionality and feature set of the EBMX controller, it's got to be pretty good. The EBMX dyno torture test is no lie! But hold off, EBMX knows why I'm buying controllers from them and the are happy to have me take theirs apart and show the world how good they are. I think that's the controller I would likely recommend. I have no relationship with KO or EBMX beyond buying controllers, taking them apart and looking at the construction. I'm not beholden to EBMX in any way, but I have to say they have been fantastic and cooperative and helpful in this little venture! KO on the other hand is a giant pain in my side! They refuse to support a legitimately purchased controller because I got it from EBMX!
So I'm looking to replace my stock surron controller, I'm not looking for massive power as I wish to keep stock motor, the reason why I was looking at ko was for a drop in upgrade and tunability with cell phone. Do you have a recommendation that is tunable by the end-user via phone app, and doesn't have a large display or control mounted to the bars that is affordable (under $1200) at tops I would want 12000w power, but on average probably 8-9kw. Thank you for your videos and your time!
Avoid KO products. As you can see they are pretty terrible and the company is predatory. I'm about to do several more videos on the X-9000. I jsut keep finding more and more things to like about it. It is overkill for your factory motor. However, this provides you the ability to upgrade your motor later to something much stronger if you want. In between time, just tune it to what your factory motor can handle. There is a phone app that will let your tune the X-9000 to whatever suites you. IT does come with a compact OLED display that is quite nice. The EBMX X-9000 is the best thing out there right now by far! Another option to hit pretty soon from America is the Tronic 750. I have one to evaluate and it's pretty good too. Trampa is promising a Surron/Talaria controller and that too will be pretty good.
@@xxx1253xxx QS138 90H is much less expensive than the FSPEC motor from KO. It's not as pretty, but exceeds its advertised specs by 10X. Meanwhile the FSPEC motor at more than 2X the price under performs by 50% of it's specs. I'd get a QS138 90H every day of the year! Oh wait, I AM getting one! LOL!
Yes, just takes a TON of heat to get the brass hot enough and the board hot enough to flow the solder. I've reflowed metal backed boards. It takes a lot! If you broke off a screw in the threads, it would be easier to drill out the center of the screw and use an easy out to get the bolt section back out of the threads.
I tried unsoldering the caps in the BAC8000 board. Those center layers of copper in there are pretty large. My Hakko solder station couldn't apply enough heat to the solder to melt it! I'll have to preheat the board so I can get enough heat at the solder joints to unsolder anything. There is more copper inside that board than it seems!
never used anything from KO, i have a BAC2000 wich cant handle 4kw if you go offroad, it cuts out if the wheel slips under load, it cant handle sudden load drops, also the software bricked at the middle of nowhere once...
@@-joo3033 sounds like a bad set up. No idea who did that, but might want to get someone else to try it out. The BAC2000 isn't a 16kw controller. It's a 12 fet controller...more like 6kw. There were some bad batches of controllers that happened. you might have gotten one of them. Electronics are not fool proof and sometimes this sort of thing happens. ASI is generally a solid brand.
I've never seen the nano. I have no direct opinion about it beyond the fact that KO makes terrible controllers in general. I wouldn't personally buy one. I'd want something that is quality and VESC or at least FOC and KO Moto isn't making anything like those.
BAC8000 is a good choice. So is the Nucular 24 fet, Votol makes some surprisingly good controllers. Go check out my Votol EM150 videos. The X9000 from EBMX is pretty good too. I like all of those.
@@de-bodgery I checked out the x9k and am impressed. The side x side review you did was great but spilling almost 2k on a controller.... so bac8k..... I am looking for as much power as I can push and longevity to grow into a better motor eventually?. I am using moli p42a for 20s20p active balance copper bus' triple qs8 with three 8g runs directly to controller. I am upgrading wiring to my motor to 4g ofc and going threw my winding with varnish; Would you recommend zipties to help stabilize bundle together? or do you think they could melt? I ride hard off-road 75% and will be gearing for torque.
I beat on my bike; My frames scratched up and polished from my boots. I found my front mounting plate and battery tray broken; I tune my suspension for the weather and fish hook hardened 420 sprockets. I am amazed the stock battery and controller have lasted me this long; I cant wait to push the bike with bac8k and big battery.
What are you talking about? Lighting is excellent and probably too much. I wouldn't mind having the lighting further away than it is. For macro shots, I use a halo LED light that surrounds the camera lense. That too provides great lighting. I watched this video again just to see what you were referring to and I honestly don't know.
