3 lesser known Xenos species | 40k lore 

I hate how despite 40k has a huge galactic setting it only really focuses on 5 xenos

What's weird is the Tau supposedly have different species within their empire that they had assimilated, yet we only seem to see Tau showing up both in lore and on tabletop.

If I recall correctly, and I have no idea where it was mentioned so it might be BS, but the weird Hrud retcon between then being Space Skavens vs Horrifying Space Time Jellyfishes was explained in-universe. Basically after they were (supposedly) beaten and dissapeared from the Galaxy, the Inquisition thought that implying that any race could have a better control over space time than humanity was impossible, and so they instead censored it and replaced the stories about them, saying they were just rat people. Which if true is both a fun little nod to the retcon and something that's very Imperium.

I forgot the name of the species but theres a xenos race floating around that are like weird little slug creatures who have these flashy wild guns and treat war and battle like its an art form

One day my boys the Rak'Gol will get the respect they deserve. Like mixes of Ork and Tyranid with Chaos robot stuff implanted in them.

One of the funnier minor xenos species I remember reading about are these things called the Barghesi who are described as being so nightmarishly ultraviolent instead of spending the resources to wipe them out the Imperium has found it more effective to just cordon off their region of space. The reason for this being apparently due to their violent tendencies they only ever unite for ~10 or so years before inevitably killing each other in a civil war. What's even funnier though was apparently a Tyranid hive fleet was heading for them and the thought of Tyranids with ultraviolent Barghesi DNA scared the Imperium so fucking much they completely battened down the hatches and dedicated multiple fleets and space marine chapters in order to *protect* the xenos from being consumed.

I'd love to learn more about minor chaos entities like the Tau greater good goddess, Malice, the god of the Raptor cult etc

Barabus Dantioch is one of my all time favorite space marines in all of warhammer lore! He was such a interesting and refreshing character in the books. There are a lot of headstrong, rush in, fight now ask questions later guys. So it was refreshing to read about a space marine, who is amazingly also a loyalist iron warrior somehow, have an almost philosophical and patient approach to the work he was doing with the pharos. I don't think there is another space marine that could have done what he did. He was a genius. And the bro love story with dantioch and pollux is the single saddest moment I have read in all the lore. Reading about pollux thoughts and grief at dantiochs death brought a very real tear to my eye because in a world with so much violence, these two transhuman super soldier beings were still able to care about their friendship that much! It's just a unique piece of warhammer

Only just started the horus heresy series, but the megarachnids that were introduced in the first book sound absolutly terrifying. shame there arnt as much emphasis on other xenos species in 40k but i guess that the great crusade woulda wiped out so many of them in the first place.

Fun fact: the Tau have a dozen types of xenos in their confederation but a grand total of 2 on the table top.

The xenos which attacked necromunda before it was called that always intrigued me. I think they were after the special warp gates in that area? And when the warp gates were blown up they just left. Always assumed they were necrons but no one really knows for sure.

I like the Khrave and the slaugh ( the maggot men) personally one a story about a slaugh cult would be horrifying or a powerful khrave that was woken from an eon's long slumber, I think that would be neat!

There is as xeno species that is aperantly so dangerous that there is an entiere iron hands chapter tasked to contain them. There is barely any lore about them exept their name ,the Baghesi , that theire being contained by the iron lords and that Hive fleet Kracken wants to eat them or smth.

The Skaven shaped Hrud teaser which was never touched upon again, is from the 3rd edition rulebook. However, a short story from the tyranid expansion to 40.000 Epic makes it clear, that in the 2nd edition era, tyranids were thought of as 40k's Skaven equivalent. We hate the meat-things. We must hunt them, quick-quick.

Games Workshop really needed to tighten up their plotlines, because the ridiculous amount of randos and one-shot appearances is totally out of hand. It's bad enough that they originally said humanity controlled like 2 million worlds before the Dark Times, but now they are clearly running out of silly alien world names and species, not to mention that in the new Lion book (spoiler) there's a space marine named Zabriel (sp?) because they ran out Latin Bible Greek sounding names and they changed the G in Gabriel to a Z. It's their own fault. I love them all dearly, like the mass murdering children I never had, but it's their fault.

In the highly unlikely scenario we get any new lore related to the hurud or heaven forbid models and rules for them. One Idea I always liked for how to implant time powers is time clones. Basically you set down a model and every movement phase it doesn't actually move it spawns a new model from itself that moves instead. And if you kill the first model all the other models it spawned die too.

Honestly a 3 unknown swords video would be very fun to watch

What about those black balls that manipulate darkness? The Umbra? They do freaky shit like use the shadows you're looking at to gouge out your eyeballs

Regarding the Hrud: It is also unclear if the aging occurs in a way that simulates a controlled environment, as in aging in the current situation at the time of exposure. It is possible and probable Dantioch would not be as bad off if he naturally aged 3000 years. It is likely the aging takes place without taking into account exercise and nutrition over the same period of time resulting in atrophy and malnutrition.

The original ratmen Hrud had way more potential because they relied on technology than the giant bendy insect monsters with tons of powers that don't transfer well to the game are pretty much impossible to implement as an army.

Fun fact in the book, "Kill Team" a bunch of Skaven Hrud were seen just chilling in a Bar full with T'au alien auxularies. Meaning that you can convert Skaven models for your T'au army and be 100% lore accurate. Also, the idea that some xenologists confused one xenos species for another even tho said species look nothing alike is straight up cannon. One guy named Camargo in particular confused the Galgs (a tentacle covered xenos) with a bunch of humanoid frogs. Probably because he saw a bunch of Tau auxularies together and mixed up their names.

Rak'gol are the best, them and the yu'vath would make 1 awesome video.

The Hrud are downright one of my favourite races in 40k solely because how unique they are. For one, they seem to be pacifist and have an unspoken non-agression pact with humanity, where a planet might be a place of Hrud and Humans coexisting as Hrud just live underground, teleport unseen between planets, their corru[pted presence is burried deep and they just use some addicted hobos on the lower hive levels to act as lookouts. Whats intresting is that the Hrud can use their time powers to make people addicted to it, effectively turning some homeless and mutants to informants, sentries and scouts. This influence makes humans look aged, so an old poor man in an underhive for sure is serving the Hrud Burrow under the city. My theory is that this ability is an effect of shaping the subject to exist in various times of his life at once - his stomack full, his bones young, his eyes sharp and so on, with the effect only working near Hrud which reapply it and This is also intresting in that Hrud are stated to be one of the most numberous races in the Galaxy, next to the big 3 of Humans, Orks and Nids. We can see it in the lore where the rare Hrud migration just has them mass-migrate to a planet to congregate in such numbers that there is no space in the tunnels and millions flood unto the surface just to ACCIDENTALLY Invade it. Hruds absolutely have the potencial to become a mayor power in the Milky Way without intrest to actually do it. And I have a theory that some people share - I think they are Eldar Beastmen. We have the Mandrakes which show Eldar are absolutely cappable of genetic divergence, Hrud technology is very corruptive which seems like a more powerful version of the eldar wraithbone machinery which chitters into a non-eldar mind as whispers turning one insane, their ability to teleport without issues smells Webway-y and we did not see what long-term chaos influence does to an eldar population. So I ust think they are descendants of Eldar who either tried to get back in time, fallen to chaos or sold out to Papa Nurgle. And the best part is that we have a chance that we will see Hrud models in the game. Hrud are the only other mayor species in the galaxy that the Genestealers like to infect solely because their ability to teleport to human worlds. Hrud Brood Brothers and hybrids might be something that might give the Cults some solely needed Marine killers and their corrupted teleports might open up rules for genestealer cults to take more races as brood brothers (We pretty much know Mechanicus is coming for the Rusted Cog instead of IG). I just want Genestealer Eldar and Hrud, damnit.

I wanna see more of the Rak'Gol. Reptilian, cybernetically enhanced centaur freak space pirates. With all the blades and stuff embedded in their bodies and heads, they look like some mashup of the Strogg from Quake and the Slashers from The Suffering. Absolutely fucking horrific, I want a game where I get to punch them with a powerfist.

Dude it's very easy to explain the Hrud/rat things - all their time shenanigans caused them to alter their appearance and they have taken on the appearance of what they would look like after 1 million years of evolution.

As a scholar of xenos, it's good to be well-informed about them, but beware of taking too much interest. If so, the Ordo Xenos will be interested in you. Trust me. You won't be very happy.
