Great instructional video. If you paddle 4-6 hours on a trip (as I often do) the normal J' can cause issues.

Yes, it’s always good to have different paddle strokes in your toolbox. One that’s easier on shoulders, one that’s easier on wrists…elbows.

I do all kinds of stuff when I get tired, or the wind is killing me. I'm going out saturday...will dedicate some practice to this.

Hey Lisa, if you were going to solo trip the allagash in a canoe, what canoe size and material would you use?

Luke depending on how much of the Allagash you do, there will be at least 2 portages..Churchill Dam and Allagash Falls. I’d go with a 16 foot as opposed to 17 foot or bigger. Materials, I’ve only ever had ABS boats. But I’d go with durability anyway.
