One time I was camping at a state park in Texas in the “primitive camping area” with no other tents. At 10pm we started hearing some rustling leaves for about 30 minutes in several different places and got the feeling a person was out there. With some fear in our hearts go out to investigate, keep hearing the rustling leaves, get closer and closer until it sounds like there must be a deer-sized animal 5 feet away in some dense brush that doesn’t care at all that two people are coming up to it. We just stand there watching with our head lamps and out comes an armadillo just digging through a blanket of crunchy dead leaves. Small animals make a lot more noise than you would expect (defense mechanism). Given how close it was without seeing it I agree with your friend it could be an otter.

@@volcanocollins9845 There was a man deer hunting in Missouri that called in one night. He said his experience was that the forest went completely silent. He stopped in his tracks and slowly looked around. He noticed one step in front of him there was an area that looked like really thick glass, like several inches thick. He stuck his foot into it, and his foot disappeared. This scared the fire out of him and he slowly backed up until he came to a tree. There he waited until the forest came back to life. Then he got out of Dodge my pronto. Investigators think those things are portals. Where they lead to and who is waiting on the other side no one knows. There are people who have gone into them and come back, but they are so traumatized that they can't talk about it. I had an experience with bigfoot in NW Wyoming in 1982. It was around the lower Green River Lake. I never saw it. It was a couple of miles away, but it lasted the better part of an hour. I have heard two other recordings of the beast. One in northern Georgia, and the other in California. They sounded just like what I heard and went on went on for about the same amount of time. I recently heard a guy on You Tube who had a face to face encounter with one. The Native Americans in the American Southwest have a custom of giving offerings of food to them when they show up. Lately they give them a small bag of dogfood. They find the bag a day or two later neatly folded and placed back where it was found. In days gone by, their chickens would turn up missing. When they would look for them they would find a neat pile of feathers and bones. Same thing with their dogs. They would find a neat pile of the dogs hide and bones. It didn't matter if the dog was a pitbull or doberman. Indian children would disappear as well. Bigfoot is a large ape. Large apes consume protein. One third to forty percent of a gorilla's diet is made up of flesh. What Joe heard more likely was a young bear. If I was Joe, I would carry some dogfood just in case. Vaughn

Oh Joe, ... LOL. I know the fishing was not what you both wanted but... When do you think the last human eyes feasted upon the beauty of the land around you...? Wow... the Sunset at 40 minutes would have been...to me, well worth the price paid to experience it. And if the fishing had hit... Well, .. Bonus...! You and Jon make a great team. Kindred heats. I really hope to see you in more J@J adventures, you are good together, pushing new boundaries, opening new lands... Exploring a wild frontier.! Please do more of this.. Showing the adventures and survival skills it still takes to explore the uncharted land around us. Great Video!!! Congrats!

Nothing better than coming home with a pizza and a few beers to enjoy while watching a new video from my favorite bushcrafter. Cheers Joe from a brain tumor survivor, that you inspired to get back out into the bush.🤙😎

Dude, after I watched the camping in a snowstorm video, then the six day paddle trip in Algonquin, I decided to focus on my old love...the outdoors. Five surgeries and a butt load of radiation/chemo have slowed me a bit, but I still keep pushing. Watching you, Doug, Shawn, a couple of others help me to keep a positive attitude. Like the Red Green character used to say, “I’m pullin for ya, cause we’re all in this together. 🤙😎

while fishing in Cochran a few years ago we ran into the same issue with Shad fly, which meant we were not going to catch any fish that evening. Beautiful area regardless. love the tent your using. nice video Joe.

Joe, you're crazy to be out there without bear-spray on your belt, and a gun. Honestly, I was shitting bricks watching these episodes with those noises in the bush. It sounded terrifying. Please consider carrying precautions for something like this, because the consequences could be absolutely horrendous.

Joe I feel bad for your friend John. I just went on line and found this button device you can attach to your camera. You carry a remote and if you are within 150 feet your remote helps you find it. Go to: thetileapp.com .....

Definitely a bear. Had one do the same exact thing and cause havoc camping last year. After rangers peppered it with rubber bullets for two days it was pissed. Came into my camp site at 2 am and was 5 inches outside of my tent next to my face making the same noises. Punched it through the tent then the dog got out of the tent because the zipper was open enough for it to get its snout through and open it up. Turned into a nerve racking sh*t show for a few minutes 🤦‍♂️😳

It was funny to watch you pretend that you left to go finishing, it’s okay to be shaken up from that scenario, that bear charged you and most certainly wasn’t afraid of you.. you had reason to be afraid, idk if your ego just wouldn’t let you say that or what.

When fishing for Lakers when it's warm, You guys have to try using a triple swivel with a bit of line off the bottom swivel with some weight and about 5-6 ft of fluorocarbon with a 5 of diamonds or your lucky lure.
