This is the most comprehensive channel for kayak information hands down. I just bought a kayak weeks ago but I’m so intrigued by all the other kayaks out there cuz headwater makes it fun to learn about them

My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ru-vid.comUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

I can testify to the Moken 12.5V2 👊 Easy paddle and nice fishing platform. The warranty is spot on and customer service is spot on. The Big Fish is a barge to paddle 🤪 . Traded mine for another Moken 😏. Thanks for the honest review Dan 😎

Last week I bought a Moken 12.5 V2 from Alder Creek in Oregon, based on your reviews earlier. I love it so far. Thank you for the help! I've already taken it on the Columbia 3 times. Can't wait to float the John Day like you guys did. :)

I just added a bow mount trolling motor using the OneObjective Lure mounting plate on my Moken 12.5v2 and IMO it's the ultimate fishing kayak setup. I can cover water on big bodies of water with no worries or I can take it to the river for some skinny water adventures.

Almost bought the Feelfree when I was getting onto kayaking. Your many videos helped me out A LOT! BUT I didn't want something that was being made over seas and being shipped across the oceans, especially during the onset of Covid when nothing was getting through. I did go with the Jackson Bite FD with the optional motor package, which they did away with in the first year they were offing them so now I not that happy with Jackson either...I have friends who are looking to get into Kayaking and I will be showing them these options. Thanks for your tutelage!

I was super close to buying a moken 12.5 based on what I had seen on your channel. I ended up with a perception pescador pro 12, and the deciding factor was the weight because I'm gonna be by myself most of the time. Still really appreciate your reviews and info. I'll probably end up getting a 2nd boat down the line. Hopefully one aimed more toward paddling than fishing.

Moken 12.5v2 was my first boat, I loved it but got tired of solo loading it into my roof rack since that's the only way I had to transport it. Ended up upgrading to an Eddyline Sitka XT since it's a bit easier to transport. I do miss the stability of the moken on lazy days where I don't want to work as hard to stay upright

Hey Dan great review as ALWAYS! I've been waiting for your on water review of the Lifetime Yukon. You said a while ago you were going to do one. I like the Moken 12, but I can get the Yukon for 1/2 the price and I can get it local. I've been waiting to here your thoughts before I got it. I know it's probably nowhere near the quality of the Moken, but it will be my first kayak and I don't want to over spend. I will use it for mostly fishing. Thanks for the help.

Hey, I'm looking for a new fishing kayak and I have a budget of about $800. I started with a used Pelican sentinel 100x and I found the seat to be uncomfortable, I couldn't stand in it, and I disliked the design. I mostly fish lakes and ponds but have gone out on rivers before. I'm relatively small at 5'7 145 so I don't feel like in the biggest kayak in the world. I have found that I don't like having the latch between my legs and one thing I would like to have is built in cupholders cause of a condition that requires me to consistently remember to drink water. The three kayaks that I have viewed online that interest me are the Lifetime Yukon 116, Pelican Catch Mode 116, and a bit more expensive the Perception Sports Outlaw 11.5. Would you recommend one of these over the other or go a completely different route all together? Thanks to anyone who comments!

Love the vids, big thank you for taking the time to make them! Question, do you think a 10 year old would be able to handle the Moken in a river with almost no rapids? Looking for something that I’ll enjoy paddling too, if he’s not with me, but also realizing it’s probably a deal that requires two boats.

Thank you so much for adding a legroom piece to your reviews. I have a 37" inseam and find most kayaks lacking in legroom. Plus I only use the low seat position for the stability. As I am older (67 years old) I tend to look for boats under 90 pounds. I am a paddler that enjoys fishing. I don't think any of the three kayaks will do for me, but I will keep looking and checking out your reviews. One last thing, I do prefer NOT having a front hatch. I never use the in hull storage. Thanks for the reviews!!

@@HeadwatersKayak I have looked at the Big Fish and liked it but found it too heavy and definitely not a paddler's kayak. But at least my legs fit in it. @@josemirles4595 I'm 6'4 with a 34" inseam and just purchased a Jackson Bite Angler. The seat only has one height, about 7-8" off the deck, but can be adjust fore and aft. I think the advertised maximum legroom is a whopping 48"! Plus it comes in at under 80lbs. The Bite checked off a lot of boxes for me, and I've been happy with it so far. It doesn't have in-hull or console storage, but you mentioned that isn't important to you (it isn't to me either since I mostly fish stillwater or slow moving streams).

@@josemirles4595 Better than I expected for being 35" wide. However, my previous kayak was a 13ft inflatable, so I don't have much to compare it to. There are a couple of really thorough Jackson Bite paddling reviews on RU-vid from experienced kayak fishermen who can provide better perspective. Good luck with your selection. I did a lot of online research beforehand and paid attention to kayaks that were short on legroom. I really liked the Crescent kayaks, but heard from several owners that legroom was lacking a bit. Plus, no dealers in my area, so I couldn't sit in one before purchasing.
