Mark Jackson is easily a favorite basketball head of mine, and I believe he has some great qualities to be a leader and easily an NBA coach. Player's mostly love playing for him. Did he make some mistakes? Yes! But it was his first year and his potential spoke way louder than his mistakes. He deserves another chance. Guarantee he turns a team around. Crazy he wasn't allowed that chance.
U 4GOT TO MENTION , THAT YEAR THEY GOT IGGY 1 OF BEST WING DEFENDER IN ERA AND HIGH FLYER. LIKEWISE 1ST PICK FROM BUCKS BOGUT, ALSO 1 OF BEST DEFENDERS.
@@PIP...33 I agree Bogut was great one of best centers in NBA only Cousins was better. If not due injuries he would be even better ranked last decade plus. Anyone can coach that superteam when you add such a great defenders and top draft pics like them. Even Walton won 50 or so games with Curry and that crew.
@@PIP...33 For that same reason USA cant win Gold or even Bronze. Lack of inside presence , rim protection, strength, rebounds and screens. Bogut was key piece. If only he was more durable GSW would win even more than 4 possible 6.
@@perditadurango9699 MARK JACKSON GOT LOADED TEAM. HE IS GREAT PERSON NO DOUBT BUT QUESTION IS HOW IS HE GREAT COACH WHEN EVEN WALTON AS U SAID WON BILLION GAMES WHEN KERR WASNT COACHING.
He offended people who are part of the lGBQ community that hold powerful positions in the NBA so that is why he not coaching anymore. AND ACCORDING to Andre Iguodala he also put players in positions to make a great payday when management did not want that for certain players. Mark Jackson is a players coach not a company man
Selling out? It sounds more like he was alienating, man. Nothing wrong with faith, but having players join in with you against their will won’t make them better.
Ive been waiting for this one! There is a Breakfast Club interview with Andre Iguodala where he said he never made anyone go to church and basically he was fired for his faith. That's why the players gave him props when they won the first title. Great vid as always bro!
He was fired because of how he related to others. Many people share his faith, yet do not wear it on their sleeve, bully others with it or allow it to dominate their coaching or personal style. If you cannot operate in a secular social collaboration, you will struggle in a melting pot environment. If you have never been secularly focused or on the religious fringe, you may not understand the infringement felt by the victims of aggressive religious imposition or inquisition or crusade or witch hunt, etc...

Hey Mr. Jackson Continue to Preach and Teach the Word of God. The Lord Will Reward You Openly. Mr. Mark Jackson you are a Blessing to the World. God Bless you and your Family. Pastor Jackson 😊❤️
The problem was very simple, the Warriors have a gay front office person and Mark expressed his religious opinion and that’s all it was. The NBA will not hire him because of political correctness.
It's always been the elephant in the room. But, the thing that I've always found funny is that the NBA never had any issues with Phil Jackson instituting Buddhist practices within the team cultures at both Chicago and LA Lakers. He had their entire team participating in such practices and he's referred to as the "Zen Master." He was also strong willed just like Mark and he wasn't particularly liked by the owners of said teams either. So, what's the real issue?? This question is rhetorical by the way. Let the reader understand.
I was thinking the same thing. Jackson is more or less religious and strong-willed. Jackson is confident, high moral guy, loyal, well liked and highly competent. That’s screams threat for some reason. Meanwhile Luke Walton gets coaching jobs handed to him.
It's about the organizations, not the NBA. Also, Phil saw damn near immediate success on Chicago and LA. He was successfulband got it done 100%, so of course theyll put up with his stubborn ass. Lastly, meditation is for everyone and is focusing on presence and the individual. Christian evangelizing is a little more in your face
It's not a race thing, and its not a Christianity thing. Its a Conservative Christianity in the Bay Area thing. Jackson made several comments against same sex marriage and other equal rights related to orientation and gender identity. That bigoted bullshit doesn't fly in the Bay Area for obvious reasons. That being said, objectively he walked so Steve Kerr could run.
Phil jackson won rings with 3 of the greatest players ever. It's not a race thing between Phil and Mark jackson. I do agree mark jackson should still be coaching.
"Momma there goes that man", Mark Jackson stood 10 toes down on his principle's . Keep your private Life Private or it will kill your Career. Case in Point!

Mark Jackson was a really good coach, but he went against a machine that is way to powerful for him to oppose and he has coached his last game unfortunately. He is also one of my favorite commentators and he may have called his last game as well unfortunately. I hope for the best for him. But him living and feeling the way he does apparently unforgivable by the NBA and that cold.
The NBA will be going straight to hell! The league, although very entertaining, had sold its soul to Satan for fame and fortune!!!! Sooner or later, the NBA will pay dearly to the point where they will go out of business someday! It's always another professional basketball league that will come.
Facts. Same thing happened to Tony Dungy in the NFL with the Bucs. Only thing Is he actually got another coaching opportunity and won a ring before he became a commentator.
He put them together but as history has shown he didn’t know how to overcome the hump. How they lost to the spurs and clippers in 2013 and 14 is a joke

Reason they didn’t like Mark Jackson, he was for what is right and he knows that no matter what, God has his back. The Power of God will prevail and Mark knows that if he just always keeps God first, no one will be able to come against him. Mark just seen the devil and he’s a child of the most powerful God.

Idc what anybody says, I believe he was fired cause he was too outspoken when that Donald Sterling stuff happened that was during the Playoff series with LAC.
He should coach college because you can’t tell grown men not to cuss, not play rap music and go to church. He’s to religious for the NBA and grown men is not having that no matter how good he coach!!
He put together the roster that we call the dubs and created their style of play only to be replaced after winning 59 games by Steve cur who's been given way to much credit for their success
U make no sense. Of course Kerr gets the credit. Yes mark was the foundation but he had a ceiling. Use ur brain. Mark won 47 and 51 games the previous 2 seasons. Kerr comes in and wins 67 and 73 the following 2. In historical context 1 is the most teams in history and the other top 10 all time.z if you think that’s a small improve then u are on drugs. They won the title and should have won in 2016. Steph turned into an mvp. In Jackson’s offense Steph was not even close to being a top 5 player. Jackson didn’t know how to use draymond as he was on the bench. Draymond along with Steph are the key components that made the warriors unbeatable. So spear me with your Kerr hate.
I know what you are blinded by. Let's look at the fact rather than the feelings. Mark Jackson was over reliant on Steph playing iso ball. Kerr bought in ball movement and Steph now has gravity where he is even a threat without the ball
No matter what your religion, you cannot mix it with your professional life or career, I've also heard he'd blast gospel song thru the loud speakers while the players were practicing. Everyone is not religious and you cannot force grown men to pray.

@@LaughingLikeSagat if you are a black owner would you hire a racist white coach? If the owner of golden state is gay why would he keep an homophobe employed?
Organization picking the coach's assistants is a new thing relatively, most of the great coaches in nba history didnt let the front office pick their assistants. Phil Jackson, Larry Brown and Pat Riley didnt let the owners pick their staff. Owners and management just picked the head coach. The head coach is the person who is supposed to hire the staff. Do you see Robert Kraft telling Bill Belichick who to hire? I dont think so! People need to stop acting like it was "out of line" for Mark Jackson to wanna pick his own assistants. All the Organization is doing when they wanna pick ur assistant coaches is hiring ur future replacement. Coaches dont all have the same philosophy and when u bring in assistants who have differences in philosophy theyre gonna butt heads.
Mark Jackson is my all time favorite player. I remember watching him play at the garden when I was a kid. I don't care what they say he should be coaching considering some of the crazy things other players and coaches have done over the years, and were still allowed to play. There is a whole political party who spends half of their time proclaiming LGBT to be the devil so I don't think that's it. At the end of the day if the owner doesn't like you then it's a wrap in any job you do. It sucks, but it is what it is. Even Phil Jackson found himself out of a coaching job a few times because he pissed off Reinsdorf/Krause.
Another great vid. I wonder if he would ever coach in college? Has the St John's job opened up in the time he's been out of coaching? I wonder if they'd be interested in him?

I’m sick and tired of them black balling this brother. GSW would not have been where they are IMHO if it wasn’t for his key in setting up that team. He is almost a Kaepernick of the NBA.
It matters in ALL professions if you are liked or disliked by your colleagues and management. It doesn’t matter if you think it is right, or if you are better than the next guy. The person that gets along, and has comparable talent will be chosen most times over a “malcontent”. I’ve seen it firsthand, and been part of management that has made these types of decisions. All the self righteous feelings one may have won’t mean a thing when it comes time for job assessment. Life ain’t fair, people have feelings (men and women) and management and employees have cliques. If you are going one way and everyone else is going another, they will get you out of there. Everyone that has worked anywhere knows this is the case, like it or not. At the end of the day, nobody cares about your sob story.
By denouncing a person as well respected in NBA circles as Rick Welts and demeaning future championship head coaches like Mike Malone, he pretty much signed his own NBA death sentence. And it’s not like he’s a Phil Jackson or Gregg Popovich or even a Doc Rivers or Erik Spoelstra level head coach. He’s a decent coach, but Kerr coming in the next season and winning a chip with basically the same time is a huge indictment.
The only places that he should go are Indiana or New York. If Carlisle becomes the general manager hopefully he would give him a chance with the Pacers
Whenever a Black man stands on principle based on integrity he is seen as a problem. Craig Hodges,Kyrie, Mark Jackson etc. They want Black men they can control.
As a Hornets fan I will say , hell yeah we needed him and definitely could have , in my opinion, would have made great strides with him in that role. Especially with lemello's education , growth , maturation and just that Mark Jackson leadership & swag he could have passed on to Lemelko from one great PG to another with endless possibilities and potential . Yeah, Bruh we absolutely needed him at that time. His PG development of mellow would have totally changed a lot of history and lives in the NBA. But would've, should've, could've.
They did him like they did to Tony Dungy with the Tampa Bay buccaneers the only difference was the Indianapolis colts which that's my hometown gave him another chance and got them got them a super bowl championship
I was about to comment that he's the Tony Dungy of the NBA but add more to it. Former players, player's coaches beloved by his players, watched another couch win with the team they developed, commentators and both are religious.
Jackson helped create the culture that the DUBS are successfully benefitting from to this day. It's hard for an alpha male to just go along to get along. Just ask Draymond.
It boils down to Jackson's personality, combativeness, and power-hungry and divisive nature. I'm honestly not sure if he's a tiger who can change his stripes this late in his life, but the bball IQ and coaching ability is there. It's the soft-power issues that he needs to adjust & adapt to. I think the main reason he likes "his guys" (his assistant coaches and staff) was that they were loyal and kissed his butt. Whenever another strong personality butted heads with him, Jackson tended to divide the locker room in an attempt to oust that personality. It's not even a revelation that this might occur when he coached Golden State. In his one and only season with the Utah Jazz (when he was 37), he actively tried to undermine starting PG John Stockton and even got several other players on his side. Jackson wanted to be the starting PG for that team to play his more to fast-break style, and didn't particularly respect Stockton that much. His locker room divisiveness became so bad that coach Jerry Sloan seriously thought about quitting mid-season, and John Stockton decided to retire after the season ended. This is the personality that you get with Coach Mark Jackson, for better or worse. He presents himself as an affable personality on ESPN, but he is competitive, and his flavor of competitiveness is what you get when he's part of any team trying to win basketball. As a coach, he knows how to get the players as a faction on his side, which is how he gets his "player's coach" reputation. But NBA teams are organizations with lots of other moving parts and personnel besides players, and it requires balance to placate the right personalities to make the partnership a success. Jackson's personality doesn't seem to work with anyone other than those who respect him and aren't threatening to his position. That is why he doesn't get another serious head coaching chance, in spite of his obvious success.
Kudos to Pastir/Coach Mark Jackson, who chooses to represent Christ and his biblical convictions over the wicked morals of this culture and a passing away career in the NBA. His reward will be great in Heaven for standing for truth! It is well worth it all!Thank God that Mark refuses to back down for a fleeting career in the NBA. 👏👏👏👏👏
All these people in the comments casually forgetting that Mark Jackson didn't even have Jokic in his top 5 for MVP last season. The guy is a complete clown who knows nothing about basketball. He doesn't deserve to be a coach.
The only reason he was fired and hasn’t got another job is because of his belief in Jesus Christ!! I pray for my brother in Christ!! Jesus protect, guide, bless and provide for him and his family always!! In Jesus glorious and powerful name I pray!! AMEN AND AMEN!!!🙏🏾 up!!
Mark Jackson not being able to get another NBA job is criminal especially if you compare him to someone like Daryl Morey. I would say Mark Jackson is much better as a coach than Morey is as a President of Basketball operations. Also from a business point of view Marks stance on the LGBT community is much more preferable money wise to Morey’s opinion on China which almost cost the NBA billions of dollars
One word that describes Mark Jackson’s warriors situation is “ Politics “💯 This exact same thing happened to marty schottenheimer as the San Diego chargers head coach. He won 18 games and still got fired. Please do a segment on marty schottenheimer .💯
The NBA is the most liberal and 'woke' professional sport on the planet. Mark has been 'blackballed' because of his unapologetic Christian beliefs. All the 'smoke' surrounding him has proven to be rumors with no factual evidence produced about him being homophobic. Yes, as a minister, preacher, teacher of the Bible, and a Christian, he would obviously be opposed to supporting the LGBTQ's agenda but that doesn't mean he is homophobic. Mark lived out his Christian values and that naturally rubbed the 'woke' NBA folks the wrong way. If he was any other religion, they would embrace his personal beliefs and accept him as one of their own, but because he dared to mention the name JESUS, he became a religious zealot who had to go. Mark is a very good head coach and the only reason he is not coaching in the NBA is because of his religious beliefs, period.
A much-appreciated presentation! Thanks. Interestingly, Jackson was criticized for not taking on suggestions for assistant coaches. That he wanted "his guys" with him on the bench. Allegedly, Steve Kerr's best friend, Bruce Fraser or "Q" (as he's called, interestingly) is Kerr's best friend. Kerr has been criticized by some of the beat writers and other media types around the Warriors, for not having a dynamic coaching staff. It is damn near a crime that strong-willed "black" coaches have a short leash, regardless of their prowess. I have seen this dynamic my entire life. Mark Jackson is worthy and a legend in New York. He has a right to his thoughts and worldview. Others do and it does not prevent them from prospering in life.

This guy was persecuted because he was a defiant black man. That’s all it was. White coaches are way more difficult and no one says anything. I see the play!!
He's a devout Christian that made some remarks about ABC community. The NBA don't like that. He's an outstanding person, player and coach and deserves to be a coach.
Sorry but there are some things that I don't agree with him not being a coach not only in the NBA but a coach even in the NCAA. He could be a major impact on any level and would definitely become a figure of leading young men especially in college. However, it's his decision IF he wants to be a head coach. We all have to persevere with some challenges that are placed in front of us. He did an OUTSTANDING job with the Warriors and I will say that GSW first championship was HIS doing. NOW, with all these college jobs being literally handed to some former NBA players that are really not working, M. Jackson would be a great guy that could lead college players and bring in other coaches (both young and old) that are just as hungry as he is. Also, cannot push RELIGION on people. that is your thing so allow players to go but not be forced. Now i heard you said that the owner said for Mark to not hire friends? SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEET....They ALL HIRE FRIENDS in the NBA, NCAA, NAIA, 9 to 5, and I can keep going. French Politics. I know for myself that if I want to be back in the coaching field, then I am going to apply on ALL levels. There's more than the NBA that need his service. But I guess that ESPN money at the time was more lucrative plus less stressful and also he has his church in LA so don't know if he even has the time. I know for sure that If applies for a college gig, he will be hired at a D1 program that will respect what he demands from his staff and his players and be back in the mix.
I don’t think folks realize that Mark coached with no assistants. That’s unheard of at the professional level (college or higher). He also butted heads with management and ownership (not a good way to keep your job).
The fact that the Knicks, under literal all-time worst exec Steve Mills, were the only team to interview him goes to show, no, it was not his faith, it’s because he’s a power hungry megalomaniac who didn’t make adjustments when the team actually reached contention.
I've always said that Mark Jackson is one of the best coaches in the NBA. Him setting on the side commentating is a travesty. What he did for the Golden State Wariors is the reason why they are one of the best teams in the NBA. When you are Black you have to stay on task. You have to play well with others. Steve Kerr just fell into what Mark Jackson built. Being Black you have to work harder than anybody. Mark you should be a coach period.
Not surprised. I have seen that spirit in many NBA players and coaches for over 3 decades. It sucks and takes away from the pure game of basketball, really. But hey, it goes to all of their heads, the public hype and celebrity. Some evolve and mature from that mental place, some don't.
When you are unwilling to take direction from the owners of an organization, no other owners of similar organizations are going to want to deal with you. An employee is in no position to be a "my way or the highway" kind of guy.
Owners want a winning team, a coach to turn the failing team around and build a good foundation for future championships. That's what Mark did, you give talent like his whatever he wants. It would be foolish for an owner to demand a winning coach to do it their way. The truth is whoever would coach them from then on would have a lot of media attention and they didn't support Marks philosophy. Plus they knew the foundation was already built up.
