If you have been following my playthrough and read the descriptions/comments, you would know that I have certain issues with many aspects of Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet, as well as many other aspects of the Sword Art Online Gameverse in general. So, I have decided to start a small series in the name of "Fixing Sword Art Online Gameverse" where I will be talking about these issues. These won't be your usual nitpicks or just "things I don't like", these will be significant faults of story in the grand scheme of things and I will be presenting my underlying reasons of why these are significant issues for Sword Art Online games.
In this episode, I will be talking specifically about the True Ending of Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet and the 3 main aspects of this ending that ultimately marks the stories doom.
First off, once again, the utter failure of the "Choose your Story" aspect that Fatal Bullet was heavily advertised on, being outright non-existent here, since the ending is hidden behind an Affinity Grind with various and irrelevant characters.
Secondly, the horrible personalization of the OC leading every single critical moment to fail.
And third of all, the Ending being not really an ending, due to how inconclusive it is.
Hope you enjoy this episode and Im looking forward to seeing you guys in the future episodes, where I talk about more general topics, instead of being so focused on Fatal Bullet.

what pissed me off is that we don't get a chance to keep Itsuki. I'm a female player and I actually like his character quite a bit (even though he can be a bit annoying and has the emotional knowledge of a cucumber) and i just find it bothersome that in a game where "your choices matter" it iterally makes no difference what you tell him! he still runs off and becomes all yandere! in the ambush of the imporsters dlc you literally get the option to say "you're very special to me" and you still get that stupid ending. the worst thing is that the writers could have given you the option to make your words get through to him. you could have gotten him to believe you through a series of dialogue where you have to pick the right answers to make him change his mind and call off the death game plan. which in return could have pissed off Taipan who now holds a grudge against Itsuki, for basically turning his back on him, and against Protag for being the cause of his change of heart. so he's the one who causes the server shutdown and sends the nerve gear to Itsuki, Protag, Zeliska and Kureha. Itsuki naturally knows it's a trap but goes anyway because he is worried about you. of course there'd be some tension in the group, especially between Zeliska and Itsuki, where she gets suspicious of exactly why Itsuki knows exactly what's going on and them being understandly pissed when they find out that's it's basically his fault they all ended up in a death game. you could get some dialogue options to either defend him, be angry or defuse the situation (maybe that's where it's decided which ending you'll get. aka if someone dies, who dies, if Taipan escapes, what'll happen with Itsuki after, and so on.) and then the group ends up facing Taipan together (maybe even go through a reskined version of the Flügel dungeon with extra hard enemies and some puzzles or gimmics to make it more interesting and appear more threatening) of course Taipans character would need to be more fleshed out for and ending like that. i was honestly surprised that he got basically no attention at all even though he clearly had the design of an importand character. who knows maybe they could have even given you some quests with him, just something!

Agreed! As female players you don't get many make romance variety and Itsuki is the only one that I like but they always ruin it with pissing friendzones 😂😭

I need some help after i finished the game on sword art online, i started the game back and when I selected my character its says “Previously completed game data has been found. You can transfer a portion of your items, stats, skills, etc. to your next play through. Do you want to start a new game using this data” i dont know if im the only one having this problem
@yingyang8130
@yingyang8130 3 года назад
@@chrisomprome3916 did you select "return to the title screen" after you finished the game? because it gives you the option to either start a new game or rewind time to before you finished the Flügel quest once the credits are done. if so I'm not sure if there's any way to help you, since I always just started a new playthrough on purpose. it might not be possible for to use that safe file without starting a new game too but I'm REALLY not sure. but even if you start a new game with that safe file, you won't lose your level, skills, items (aside from a few key items you get though the story). the only difference is that the npc's affections get reset to zero and you have to map out the dungeons and activate the fast travel points again. If I'm wrong or anyone knows a solution for this person's problem please tell them!

I feel like muted characters can still have a personality. If the game's staff changed the OC's facial expressions and body language when speaking to a person or give you dialogue options, then maybe you would have the illusion that your character had personality. Say Link from Zelda, games like Wind Waker and Skyward Sword give Link personality despite him not having a voice. It's not hard to give a character a personality, it's only if you are able to write a good one or not. You could have a badly written character, but you could still pinpoint at least one trait. Even if they are cliche, it matters what you do with that cliche that you can modify it and turn it into something else.
@Gamerturk
@Gamerturk 5 лет назад
> If the game's staff changed the OC's facial expressions Oh god, you just reminded me of Pokemon Sun and Moon and the OC with his/her soulless smile at every scenario... But yes, completely true. An OC can be made more relatable with a better variety of only facial expressions. I also do believe "writing a good mute character" is a huge part of "creating a good mute character", so while you are definitely correct, I'd say that's already part of the same argument and shouldn't be separated.

I would say pokemon sword and shield MC but they at least show emotions in dlc 2 and 1 I think but mc is just weird hell I would like to see if they went back to the oc thing give them a personality and if they can't say shit at least do fucking sign language cause that would be better than anything

The ending gave me the will to not play the game because I like Itsuki, he was chill until I saw this. Like DONT DO THIS TO ME, EVERY ENDING IT BAD. ITSUKI IS A YANDERE IN BOTH AND KUREHA DIES. LET ME DIE, I WAS THIS CLOSE TO HAVING A ROMANCE IN SAO. MIGHT ASWELL DIE ALONE. THIS IS HURTING MY HEART!

I agreed with everything you said gamerturk but I think there's another point about why the true ending fail and that point is Itsuki from the start of the game I alredy know that He was the villain of the story. He say himself that he is a criminal and yet OC still believe him only because he said that was a ''joke'' MY ASS!!!!
@Gamerturk

That is true, but like the previous video last week, I wanted to focus more on the ending itself, without going too far back.

Simone Pinna for me the reason our OC look like not "MAD"(which if i'm the OC: MAD of course) is because we actually know how itsuki feel since we get high afection with him and of course I'm not buying the "it's joke" thing so does the OC but that make us know his personality. And the buzz, for me, sound just like a warning from him (which obviously everyone would aware of) and yet itsuki just want to get acknowledged by the OC only (kind of Yandere). In the end It's not like bad written story for me because i almost get what it meant. But the lack of choices. or at least one option dialog that make the OC sound clear about his/her feelings would be better to us to understand.

To be honest it really was the shit writing at fault cause honestly an 8 year old could've made a better story in general not even just the ending the story has so many flaws since the very goddamn beginning( even tho i still enjoyed the gameplay)

the company of saofb should take notes of God eater ressurection and rage burst, they had a mute but at times spoke up at crucial points in the story with a natural ish story line, plus you actually get somewhat attached to the characters in god eater,its much better xD

I was actually fine with affinity grinding (though I was baffled with why Bazalt Joe had to be included) because the True Ending seems to stem from the protagonist establishing connections with everyone. Being forced to be friend with everyone made them coming to your aid much more meaningful, especially the last cutscene where they're all in the field together; you made these friends and they are there for you. If you could get a true ending without being forced to establish these connections, it would seem off, because then characters you hardly got to connect with are suddenly risking their lives for you? While I agree that a decision making process could also be a good trigger for a true ending, I think establishing all these friendships was important to make the true ending more meaningful. Also I never have a problem with silent custom characters. I have a big distaste for OP playboy Kirito so I never even wanted to play the other games. Fatal Bullet was my first game BECAUSE of the custom protagonist. That's just my personal preference and while the game did do poorly in allowing your character to be more involved in events, I personally just like having a story all centred around my OC. It made the experience a little more personal and I would be more invested. (Especially since the designs I chose for both my protag and ArFA-sys are close to my heart so it was quite important to me) Also I'm a simple creature, I really just like seeing my custom character act all badass and emotive in cutscenes xD so the final true ending cutscene was just so wholesome for me ♡ I do agree with the unsatisfying ending. As a female player...I really liked Itsuki above the others XD It made me somewhat tolerate his actions. The whole moment where you connect with him near the end, gosh I actually feel for him; he just wanted a true friend. Its just unfortunate that he had to be too obsessive about it and turn all yandere and give off Just Monika vibes. It was for this reason I personally wasn't mad at him for doing what he did, because I liked him and wanted to reconcile with him. Though I was a little shocked that after the servers recovered, you couldn't even confront Itsuki about it like gURL U SAW HIM DO IT. Besides it was revealed that in the true ending, Zeliska and Kureha's Nervegears were actually fake and that you (and possibly Itsuki) had real ones. So when he just disappeared at the end with no real conclusion between them, I was a little upset. You spend the game actively having to increase your bond with him and he just leaves with no resolution?? I had no closure because of this. This is all just my personal view, I won't deny that objectively the ending and mute protagonist had major flaws stated in the video. Though I never actually expected an amazing story from this game since....its SAO. The same series that had millions trapped in a death game while the creator fORGOT HIS MOTIVE. I only really bought Fatal Bullet at a discount for the custom character experience and gameplay.

Thank you for the long comment! I'll try to reply to everything, but do reply back if I missed anything. I'm heading back home today and my mind is mostly on the travel arrangements right now :P With the exception of Bazalt Joe (who I feel like is actually the most interesting character in the game due to his backstory and is severely underutilized), I had no problem with the affinity grind, I found Itsuki's character stories tying back to the ending particularly good. Though I still feel like befriending literally "everyone" was overkill. Imo, befriending Kirito should have been enough, knowing all the characters would aid Kirito anyways and they are not really risking their lives in that scenario. I am a completionist, so I had everyone maxed out anyways, but overall, I still do believe the grind is too much of a chore for the average player, just to taste a True Ending that doesn't offer a conclusion. I can see how having a Custom Character OP was a breath of fresh air for many people. The main problem I have with that, above the sub-par implementation overall, is that the game does it's best trying to make you believe you are the same as Kirito, which undermines the OC concept a lot. I can't be whoever I want to be, if the dialogue options are severely lacking and everybody tells me how amazing I am. Visual Customization is great though, while I stick with my OG look, I mentioned in my review that people would be amazed at the options this game offers to customize your characters. If you like Itsuki, I do strongly recommend DLC1, which focuses on his (and Kureha's) past in an indirect manner. And if my assumption is correct, DLC3 should offer us more Itsuki, as well as a proper ending to his arc in the vanilla game. I'm hoping we get our confrontation there. I talked about the NerveGear counts in the part 1 of this series if I'm not mistaken, so I didn't focus on them too much here. The gist of it is, having 4 or 2 NG's doesn't really affect anything. Story decides who dies and who survives, so why convolute your endings, by having 2 NG's and make them shift the real ones based on the ending? Feels needlessly jarring. Also, last but not least, correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like your opinion of SAO Story Quality are more in line with internet memes than the stories themselves, or at the very least, due to translation issues depending on your source. Your interpretation of Kayaba gives me this feeling, considering in the scene, what he says is "I've been doing this for so long, even I sometimes forgot why...". Have you ever did something so systematically, for so long, that from time to time, you forgot your initial purpose until you asked yourself why you are doing it in the first place? That's essentially what he is saying. He didn't forget why he did it per se, he just lost track from time to time, after spending 2 years in the castle with the rest of them. And in a way, that was also part of his initial goal. To have a place where people "lived". As for the story quality, Aincrad has it's faults, mainly due to it's structure and limitations imposed at the time the story was being written. But I especially like Phantom Bullet and Mothers Rosario arcs, and the upcoming Alicization is something special imo. I hope I didn't miss anything, again, thanks for the long comment

Gamerturk The affinty grinding wasn't a problem for me because I actually found a really lazy but effective way to grind by resurrecting your party members. You literally have them repeatedly die while you are under cover next to them, and spam 5 whenever they die xD Since I did this with the original SAO cast, getting to rank 2 was a breeze with this method. I'm playing on Steam and apparently DLC1 has some issues that need fixing sooo...I gotra wait QwQ gonna buy the season pass anyway, so I can get DLC3 in the future. Also well I can understand whatever reason Kayaba forgot his motive after being at it for 2 years but like, since its still a story...it was still a lazy move from the writers. You sit through 12 episodes of people dying and come to the conclusion of not having an answer from the mastermind. I'm sorry but that was dumb as HECK. SAO's original series was so amazing when I first watched it but when I revisited it, and watched the second season I was underwhelmed, except for Mothers Rosario. I was so excited for it and they delivered. Phantom Bullet was okay but...I only really liked Sinon's development in it and nothing else. The main reason I even got Fatal Bullet was after watching Alternative GGO, which painted GGO in a much more interesting light than the original; I actually saw it as a game world rather than some barren gun terrace. I'm never really expecting amazing stories from SAO at this point but i only intend to watch the third season and keep up to date out of obligation and some weird sense of attachment as it was still an influencial series when I started watching anime. At this point I really want an ALO game with a custom character protag...because goddamn I wanna be a fairy. Perhaps another OC protag game might help them improve on the flaws of this game

I used the same method for maxing out everyone, including the ones I dont need for story. But my general approach to "grind" in games is that if players are actively going out of their way to cheese your system, then that is a sign that the "system" is flawed by design. I dont think anybody had fun when grinding affinities. I believe the DLC issues get fixed within a day. I'm sure both DLC1 and 2 were fixed already. Again, Kayaba didn't forget. During that conversation, he knew full well why he did it and he explained just one sentence after mentioning that he sometimes got caught up in the moment throughout the 2 years. As I said, he wanted to create a world where people lived in. He succeeded. Also, if you enjoyed AGGO, you may wanna watch my AGGO vs Main series video I did recently. That may shed some light on as to why the main series seem to not grab your attention ;)

Gamerturk Revisiting because after looking back on stuff, I came across a neat piece of foreshadowing about the true ending in a very unexpected place. I was looking back on the Pillow Talk events with Itsuki (because his voice is very soothing UwU), and in the 3rd event, he says that the dream he had was him fighting side by side with you, and he ended up shooting you. I'd say thats a pretty clever foreshadow, since you do fight with him against the boss before he reveals himself as the villian, then you both have that little standoff, pointing guns at each other. In the dream he shot you, but during the Pillow Talk, he expresses that he really hopes it doesn't come to that in the future. True to his wish, neither you or Itsuki shoot each other in the standoff, so I'd say that's a relief, but he was still upset about his dream depicting them against each other. He was hoping it was just a PvP match but sadly it became a more dire situation. Just wanted to quickly point it out because I think it was pretty clever, for this big piece of foreshadowing to be in a Pillow Talk of all places. It's just like how it was clever of them to have you use the gun Itsuki gives to you after growing close to him, so I appreciate these small details

My personal gripe with the true ending is they state that Kureha and Zeliska's nervegears were fake....but if you failed to stop the attack suddenly 'oh no, Zeliska's/Kureha's dead!'. If you've done all the requirements for the true ending then they shouldn't be real nerve gears. I don't understand why only a couple of the nerve gears had to be real. Why did they have that plotpoint? It doesn't make sense when they obviously aren't fakes if getting hit kills one of the two girls.
@Gamerturk
@Gamerturk 6 лет назад
I was actually gonna talk about that, but since it was one of the "threat" premises, I decided to push it to my "Threat Burnout" episode. Yeah, the way they juggled 2 Nervegears around was utterly useless and did not add anything to the story.
@SoftisNelaris
@SoftisNelaris 3 года назад
I despise what they did with this on a different, more fundamental level: The idea that the stakes entirely change depending on the meta decisions you make. Because it's still possible to get the bad ending even when you have the requirements for the True Ending... meaning that while Itsuki has one of the real NerveGears in all endings, the one who has the other changes entirely based on *1: Your random arbitrary choice when talking to Arfa-Sys before entering the end zone* and *2: whether you have the true ending unlocked and can stagger/stun the boss out of his kill-move animation in time.* A game that pulled similar shit is Army of Two: 40th Day. In the ending, the player and his partner confront the villain, but he turns the tables on them by claiming to have a nuclear bomb linked to a "dead man trigger" he was holding. He gives you a choice: Shoot your partner (the relationship between the two characters developed over 2 games, and they mostly only care about each other anyway) and let him escape and he won't nuke the city, or shoot him, and the nuke blows up. However, even if you shoot your partner, you still shoot the villain out of anger. This is the key point: In both endings the villain gets shot and so a Nuke should go off... Right? WRONG. If you choose not to shoot your partner and kill him the nuke goes off, but if you shoot your partner you'll still kill the villain except it turns out in *this* case it turns out there was no bomb... So the story is just arbitrarily deciding whether there is or isn't *a fucking nuclear bomb and the villain the has the trigger* based entirely on your decision.

Interesting video, but I don't agree on "only Itsuki's affinity is relevant to the true ending" Itsuki's wish is to be "unique" to the OC, but he fails to do so precisely because the OC is friend with a lot of persons. If the OC was socially inept, Itsuki could be the "one and only" for the OC, yet the latter is surrounded by people who trust and care about him/her; thus Ituki has to "share" him/her with others. It seems to me that it is this state of affairs that prompts him to execute his plan to distinguish himself by "risking his life" for the OC. However, I'll admit that grinding for Bazalt Joe affinty to level 4 seems pointless as he is irrelevant to the story. On Kureha's side it is even worse : during the affinty event she acts like she is proud to have GGO to share with the OC, and in the "main story" she is just jealous of our succes, acting like we owe it to her. That didn't sit well with me, and honestly I can't bear to hear her little rants anymore. Still, thanks for an interesting video, hope you keep this on ! ps: maybe you should wait for all the dlcs to be out before making a final review of the game, since the "true ending" will probably be in the 3rd dlc
@Gamerturk
@Gamerturk 6 лет назад
That is actually a very good point, that genuinely slipped out of my mind, because I regarded affinity as a "game mechanic" that unlocks affinity events. Never once did it occur to me that "affinity" may as well be just that, actual affinity with the OC, thus pushing Itsuki this way. While that point falls short, since Itsuki's plan is in the works, whether you have the affinity with everyone else or not, incorporating that into the game properly, to make it clear that "affinity" is not just an in game mechanic keeping character events behind a lock, yeah, it actually could've been much more meaningful. For Kureha's side events, yeah, I got that feeling as well, but at the end of things, we don't really know where in the timeline these side events actually fall into. Kureha starts getting annoyed towards the end of the game, starting with the Flügel questline. The character events might be taking way before that, when she is not annoyed with our success yet. Similar to the current DLC, which is taking place before the Flügel questline and I haven't seen Kureha make any mentions of her jealousy. My Ultimate Review will come out today, since... Well, a base game has to be reviewed as is, without any extentions or fixes that may come afterwards. People shouldn't be expected to play the DLC's to have a conclusive story afterall, just like I mentioned here. But I will be offering an Ultimate Review for the DLC chapters after all 3 has come out, as well as first impressions for individual DLC's in a short 4-5 minute video each. And yes, I will be keeping this series going! Talking about these and brainstorming about how things could've went better or just providing constructive criticism is something I like and tbh, it also gives me a sense of pride. Since constructive criticism is so rare on these platforms, which are mostly filled with mindless bashing, I feel like I am making a difference, as much as I can at least with the small reach I have. I feel like it is our responsibility to provide a place for non-toxic discussions as RU-vidrs and it is sad that many people prefer getting more views by riding on baseless hatetrains, rather than being responsible with the influence they have... Anyways, hope you enjoy the future episodes!

I kinda feel for Kureha though. Living in the shadow of her sister she hoped to be a figure similar to her for the protag but then they end up surpassing her, leaving her feeling irrelevant. Main reason I chose to save her in a bad/normal ending, because it made more sense even though I personally liked Zeliska more.
@Gamerturk
@Gamerturk 6 лет назад
Honestly, the game doesn't offer you many reasons to pick Zeliska over Kureha, so much that it felt like they made Kureha overly sensitive in the last couple of chapters, in hopes of getting her to annoy you, so you'd pick Zeliska :P
@PantherIsa
@PantherIsa 5 лет назад
Late here, present. (xD) I chose Zeliska because rightly Kureha was very annoying and always freaked at the protag's lead, even so when she died, she says "I knew it. You're useless without me" or something. Not having the courage to like her, if I could change friend, I would trade her for Itsuki, who despite being a good player and a villain, always supported the protag.

Also, about our OC completely ignoring the fact that Itsuki caused the crash... First off, its totally obvious it was him, I know that SAO doesnt exactly inspire trust in its characters inteligence, which is odd considering at least half of them are regular geniuses, but I doubt they would be really as brazen as to write our OC this demented. I replayed the part yesterday and actually the moment you log in and look at Itsuki, you hear some kind of noise, at first I thought it was a bug or something, but it happens at the exact moment before you get the options to ignore it, so I chose to believe that Itsuki has somehow influenced the OC to ignore it, or outright made him forget or diverted his attention from the memory. I know its a huge stretch, but considering the story will be continued in the dlcs, I wouldnt be surprised if that turned out to be a plot point somewhere down the road.
@Gamerturk
@Gamerturk 6 лет назад
Yeah, the noise is indeed there, but even as a stretch, it doesn't make sense in the universe. I'll honestly be surprised if it is ever explained in the DLC.

Finally someone who agrees with me that mute protagonists more often than not destroys a game depth when it comes to it's plot. Another thing is gender selection, I prefer female characters, but more often than not, they're not but males in female form (would rather they limit it to male/female only than this). I mean, this game pratically keeps telling me: "hey dude, ya know we made the plot with a male protagonist in mind, right?" and keeps throwing scenes that only/mostly makes sense with a male chatacter and not female. Thanks for that, usually when I bring this up people get all angry and personal at me.

yeah to be honest im with you like why give us the choice yet the only time a character refered to a chick at times is during kirito mode which basicly just simulates why you are right since its still a dude in a female body yet for a bit is refered to female then to male so kinda stupid they didnt fully do this
@jasonrobinson5974
@jasonrobinson5974 4 года назад
I know these are old couple years in fact. But I just wanted to say I agree with the male and female protagonist selections. If a game is male leading role. Then why give an option for female characters. It just doesn't look right on a lot of scenes when you play as female. On top of that this series is practically harem style so i imagine it was awkward for female players having to romance so many girls and only get one guy option. SAO FB is a good game as far as game play goes. But Female Character dialog just felt weird. I really hate it when Games don't have Gender recognitions. Anyways I feel if a company is going to make a OC that's geared towards a male protagonist then they shouldn't have character creation. They should have just stuck with Kirito and left it with that.

I think the ending fails even before it happens because the story doesn't give you reason to care about Itsuki's betrayal. The story up to that point is pretty much just a PvE romp with literally everyone except Itsuki being pretty friendly (even Bazalt Joe is pretty honorable considering GGO is supposed to be a hardcore PvP game), and the not-so-subtle evil monologue followed by the forced log-out part of the story basically spoils that Itsuki is the final villain before you even get there, with Death Gun being introduced to the story only to be a red herring that Kirito beats in Fatal Bullet's crappy knockoff of an actually good story that also doesn't work fundamentally because Kirito and Sinon are already intimately familiar with each other and Spiegel already being all but outed as a villain in Hollow Realization. Here's my proposal for not only fixing the *entire* plot, but elevating it above "mediocre" without scrapping Itsuki's betrayal at the end. The prologue dungeon should be mostly the same, except you actually have an inconclusive skirmish with Itsuki. The plot then proceeds more or less the same, except for two *massive* key differences: First, introduce Death Gun/Sterben as a major antagonist to the whole party by playing off his set-up in Hollow Realization; Instead of just targeting top-ranked players over gamer grudges, he's specifically targeting Kirito & co because of what happened involving Sinon, Kirito, and Spiegel in Hollow Realization and since OC's party is now aligned with Kirito they become targets as well. Second, actually make GGO a hardcore PvP shooter by introducing a lot of encounters with hostile Players who at first mostly just want to loot your gear, but as time goes on and the playerbase realizes that you have the rare ArfA-Sys Type-X needed for the new events, they start targeting you to try and steal him/her specifically. Working both of these points into the story gives a lot more room for drama and character development for the Fatal Bullet original characters, with all the hardcore players constantly attacking your party and trying to take away not only your hard-earned items but also trying to permanently take away your poor innocent ArfA-SyS who'll basically become a slave in the hands of most GGO players. This gives Kirito & co a strong motivation for sticking with the player, considering their experiences in Ainground and their relationship with Yui, Strea, and Premiere... To them, the idea of enslaving a fully sentient AI is abhorrent and a crime against ethics. At the same time though Death Gun is out and about hunting the Kirito Army and the OC party is caught in the crossfire since he's only targeting you due to your association with Kirito. Since no one knows how Death Gun is killing people, this introduces a dilemma to the OC: The help of Kirito and his huge band of seasoned, high-level players is a proportionally huge asset in dealing with all the PKers hunting your own party, but at the same time their help means that you're living in the shadow of Death Gun's threat. By intertwining these two elements as overarching elements, the relationships between all the characters are a much, *much* bigger deal. The only people you can unconditionally trust are Kureha and ArfA-SyS, because both are explicitly loyal to you and only you. Kirito "knows" (read: has a strong Kirito intuition) that Death Gun is targeting him specifically from the beginning, but he doesn't disclose this even as everyone has more and more close calls with Death Gun, creating a conflict between the OC party and Kirito Army as the OC party becomes increasingly suspicious of the link between Kirito and Death Gun until it finally blows over late in the story. This in turn gives more weight to your relationship with Itsuki, because while he seems really shifty, he *has* been giving you a lot of help... and as for Bazalt Joe, he's a major antagonist early on but the relationship between him and the OC party warms over time, as he proves to be pretty friendly and honorable compared to the hundreds of other, far more ruthless players that having been hounding you across the story. And finally, Zeliska can see proper relationship development with the OC based on a friendly rivalry (the race to see who can complete the new content first) that warms into proper co-operation and friendship, as opposed to the story we got where her only connection to the OC party is her having her own ArfA-SyS Type-X and having an interest in them.

Love your videos man and sorry for being 2 years late, so um first off this game was kinda of a roller coaster for me when I started playing this year and kinda had mixed feelings being excited having my own Oc in the game even I like muted characters and custom characters that are done very well in other games and the other reason dealing the affinity grind (which is fine), even though I’m trying to get the true story I didn’t like the bad endings along with the nerve gear part being fake being useless and having our Oc being mute kinda upsets me a little bit to let the other characters speak for us and the dialogue with Itsuki was done poorly and I know be bad getting tricked and be compared to Kirito was baffling to me and I kinda want a arc mainly centered around my Oc goals and motivations along with what makes him so special and different from everyone else on his journey and with the help of his Afra-sys joining him as well to be a great plot driven focus and character development and befriending everyone was kinda off to me expect Kirito, Sinon, Zeliska, Kureha, Joe, and kinda Itsuki. And I also think that two different arcs about Zeliska and Kureha would be nice to explore expect it didn’t happened at all and I can tell why you and others see why the game lacks including the true ending but I when get to the DLC it would make sense to have a actually story then the main story and I like some parts of the game giving some characters the time in the spotlight like Sinon during the Kirito mode and some others and I also think the game should let our Oc develop friendships with the main cast one on one in a actual conversation but with not choosing random answers though I do prefer saoif better being my sao game with great answers and cheesy ones to even though I have to restart everything IF it always nice that others game like Legend of Zelda, Dragon Ball, Attack on Titan, and more do custom characters some justice in the lore and story. My biggest disappointment is the Oc personality, Itsuki being way over obsess with our oc sounds very weird for guy oc’s, and the other weird choices that game does poorly and the story being unfinished needed more work as well and I agree with the creator succeed being in the death game with them and wanted everything to be planned out from the start. I hope maybe next they can fixed the writing and the flaws if another custom character game happens expect saoif that is going on pretty strong while being it’s own cannon and separate from the game verse timeline that’s all I have to say and keep up the good work.

I have only received positive feedback and healthy discussions, which is exactly what I aimed with the series. And as I told you last week, the series won't be on the same tone as the comments where I completely aim to drive my personal agenda. The series is all about bringing issues to light and sparking a healthy conversation about the topics. My followers on the Sonic side of my channel know very well that I do not tolerate toxicity.

I love the Gameverse and have loved every single previous game from beginning to end, and as we 'argued' before I LIKE that the Gameverse's main premise is that "everyone is happy and everything will be alright in the end" compared to Canon, so I won't really agree on anything else, sorry to say XP

I love how Xenoblade Chronicles X did the silent custom character; You're a main character, but not THE main character. If we got SAO games with custom characters that follow Kirito and co. through the story, we could get both personalized characters AND a story that doesn't force itself forward.

I'd like to refuse that sentiment. I'll just post the same reply I sent to another person in the comments if that is okay, since I feel like that covers it well. He has clearly defined personality traits and goes through a lot of changes, even throughout Aincrad, despite the huge timeskips. I have plans on a video, specifically on this ridiculous misinformation being fueled by popular content creators and influencers. Honestly, coming back to this after years, this game just seriously missed the opportunity to make the most interesting character in the SAO game verse, and maybe even overall in the franchise if they just put more effort into Itsuki's characterisation. We learn absolutely nothing about him but based on the crumbs that are hinted, it was already a perfect setup for this ending to make general sense. I noticed that whenever Itsuki makes a "just kidding" joke, it's ALWAYS when he's trying to reveal his true feelings before retreating behind a barrier, like when he's being sincere and stuff. The ONLY time he joked about something that wasn't remotely like that was saying he was a criminal, so considering the pattern that's been established up till then, where he actually does mean what he says, he was telling the truth about that. And that was the only titbit of info we had until later DLCs made it much clearer he is involved with shady stuff irl. But we never get to be told about ANY of that. If we just got to learn more about his life irl, to paint a better picture of the kind of environment he is so used to that makes him the way he is now, it would create the perfect setup and justification in why he becomes so possessive and twisted. I can only imagine him living a life surrounded by untrustworthy people and backstabbers, never having a true companion until meeting the MC. Him becoming frantic and possessive to keep them as their one and only special person, and for them to reciprocate so that he can feel assured that they're the one person who will never leave or betray them unlike everyone else, would start to make a WHOLE lot more sense. By exploring that, he'd become one hell of an interesting, tragically misguided character, compared to the barebones yandere twist he ended up becoming. In doing all that, it also makes his latter encounters more meaningful and heartfelt, fully knowing just how important and special MC is to him with this context, where he sends that anonymous mail then later reunites and reconciles with MC, pledging to become a better person worthy of being their friend. And if all this was explored and discussed WITH the MC, so that they're at least more aware of Itsuki's background, their decision to keep believing in Itsuki and forgiving him so easily comes more naturally too. It would actually stem from them understanding Itsuki on a deep level and knowing his pains rather than them just being 'a good wholesome MC who loves everyone' who should have no real reason to trust him based on how the game actually went. Literally all the tools were there for a perfect setup and they just----- didn't use ANY of it. It's always so disappointing to look back on and think about. He had the potential to be the most interesting character of the case by a long shot.

This is so true. I thought the requirements to get the True Ending were and still ARE ridiculous. Kureha's affinity and Zeliska's affinity, and Itsuki's YES. I understand that for the True Ending, but the yeah, the grind for everyone else's. Now Kirito's affection, perhaps in order for him to rally the "reinforcements" so to speak. MAAAAAYBE. I got into SAO: FB due to the fact that I was NOT Kirito. Kirito Mode? Really? Concerning the Silent Protag? Fire Emblem Awakening did far FAR EXCEEDINGLY better with Robin both Male and Female versions. We should have had choices and personalities to choose from. I liked the gameplay, as flawed as it can be at times. The enemy AI was no where near polished. There are a lot of issues and I blame the lack of effort of the developers and story line. My True Ending? You STILL CHOOSE who "Dies" between Zeliska and Kureha. One of them STILL DIES. Then you choose either to get vengeance and end Itsuki, or get one of the others in the cast to find and end him. Zeliska finds his id b/c she is part of the developers of GGO. OR Kureha kills him for you for the sake of bringing Zeliska's killer to justice . . . I don't know . . . maaaaybe that's too hard for the devs? Sigh . . . .
@Gamerturk
@Gamerturk 6 лет назад
Protag, yeah, thats definitely on the devs, since it is a herculean task to make a proper Silent Protag with actual branching dialogue, and provide different personalities etc. The story itself however, is just lazy writing in general, not related to devs. They could have done so much better, without really changing the content all that much, considering killing off characters in the true ending would mean their future DLC plans for these characters would need to be re-made from scratch.
@jakehorne833
@jakehorne833 6 лет назад
That is true, yet older games have done just that with the storyline, granted games weren't money cash grabs and whole products. Choices like the ones of Suikoden II, where you could end up ending the game less than 10 hours into the game by simply agreeing with your Silent Protag's sister and fleeing the war completely, before any of the meat of the game even begins. Certain characters can end up perma-dying. and the future scenes change drastically as a result. Now, the story? Yes, the writing is horrid, I keep playing mainly just for the gameplay as an action 3rd person. I just feel like others could write fanfiction of Fatal Bullet better than the story writing in this game. Which is very disheartening. For it's silent protagonist better than this. Enter the God Eater series.

Know i am very much late to this, new player just last week (almost near the end, gotten very invested getting true ending. Spoilers don't stop me from enjoying a game tbh). Overall i have a few issues with the two endings (yes i say two, because both Kureha and Zeliska's endings are the exact same...) 1. The bad endings as i stated above are literally the EXACT SAME! The only difference is which of the two dies, nothing more. If anything, i feel more compelled to save Kureha off the bat for the sole reason that she is a childhood friend. Literally the ONLY person in GGO the protag has any real-life experiences and relationship with. Zeliska and everyone else for that matter are simply friends on a video game. Don't get me wrong, Zeliska is awesome and i liked her a lot, but when weighing the options...i felt more compelled to Kureha simply because of the actual RL relationship between herself and the protag. So while it is sad to see Zeliska go...i honestly didn't feel too bad about it. 2. The true ending...as i said above, i was trying to aim for it, but i am just getting burnt out from it. The ending itself (while nice to see everyone alive in the end) is very lackluster for the countless hours you'll have to grind and all of the ridiculous steps in certain order you have to follow. Get new characters to affinity 4.75, get all canon characters to lvl 2 (before Mother Claudia to be exact), complete Kirito mode, do all the sub individual quests/events (including all of the OG characters too from Kirito as well-meaning countless more hours of grinding!), then get a amulet you can only get at a certain moment and then you have to stop the final boss from carrying out a certain attack.... all of this, for....that? I'm sorry, after seeing the true ending i honestly feel kinda cheated as a player. Put in all the effort just for a cliffhanger and a little cinematic where all the characters are alive and happy just isn't worth the effort. Sorry for the extremely long and well outdated tangent, but as a new player i just have to put it out there. Honestly, the true ending imo has no right being as tedious to unlock as it was. Imagine the damn headache that came after i did everything as my OC and then completed Kirito mode....only to find out i have to grind affection again as Kirito just to unlock the damn speech bubbles! Like seriously. Overall, good game. Love interacting with the characters as my own OC in the SAO/GGO verse, but so far im kinda disappointed in the lack of options (almost every dialogue option you choose essentially means the same thing, never once can you snap at someone or actually refuse to do something) and the endings just really aren't all that cut out imo...

@@Gamerturk Oh well if that's the case, then I hope you enjoyed my own little tangent about the endings xD Bit off topic, but I Honestly love games where you create your own protsgo...idk why, just always felt more immersed in the types of games where you play as your own creation, but Fatal Bullet kinda dropped the ball on it a bit. Too few lines of dialouge and even few meaningful choices. The few times your guy talks is pretty much always agreeing with everyone else. Not once so far have I come across a line of opposing dialouge from the protag. They literally get walked on by everyone and they happily nod or shake their head... One of the only times I enjoyed an almost mute created protagonist was your Character in Saints Row 1. In the entire game, your guy only says about 4 or 5 lines of verbal dialouge and every last one of them are either really funny or shows their actual emotion in the scene. So it is doable...but usually done poorly ...

That completely makes sense, and we must wait for the DLC new story, quest, characters, and more including new weapons, and we want to know what happens to Itsuki then. We should ask someone who makes SAO Fatal Bullet add New story before, during, or after the event of Main Quest When I said New Weapons, it looks like this on my list LIst of Weapons for DLC: M1911 Beretta 92 Colt Python (Revolver) Any Weapons Or Look it up of Internet Movie Firearms Database to find weapons to Add DLC

to be honest if it wasnt for the Ai to be a bbaby and be sad and such over and over and over and given us more choices with how they reacte and such would been great. i was very upset when i did the bridge boss and i had to run away with my ai who was destroyed she was stupid and later ran away cause she forgotten. like no shit you forgotten you litterly have barly any info and such since it was stated alot and we had to find pieces to help repair and fix your system like seriously. i understood at first i couldnt do much and i thought its an mmo and once we do some missions we could buy more voices or unlock them but nope. but the whole emotions kinda killed it as were spost to know kushra more then the ai knows her. im sorry but litterly gave us one voice option for the ai while the blank oc has 8 voices thats the stupid part right there. why give us no voice lines yet we had more choices with how we sound yet the ai one type of voice a baby and they talk every single time even during missions like seriously. i couldnt make three play throughs with my different ocs cause of the voice chip and how they acted over and over theres no choice. Also i hate the dlc still dlc2 will unlock our room fully yet nearly everyone is there already PLOTHOLE. we barly just got the room open and its a base of operation for nearly everyone who i dont care for

Kirito has plenty of Character Development, on the contrary to the "mainstream" belief. He has clearly defined personality traits and goes through a lot of changes, even throughout Aincrad, despite the huge timeskips. I have plans on a video, specifically on this ridiculous misinformation being fueled by popular content creators and influencers. But for now, all I can refer you to is the material itself or SAO Wikia episode/character summaries for more information that is not trying to deceive you.

@@Gamerturk Suddenly i got very interested on that video you're going to make, because i really like SAO, i like the setting, love some characters like Yuuki and Sinon, but i can't seriously wrap my head around Kirito, for this simple reason: Kirito is understandably very good at SAO for having basically no-lifed it during the whole beta test period and grinded solo during most of the death game, but that doesn't explain how he also manages to get 99% of the female cast deeply in love with him, naturally having the best reflexes out of all the players thus having been rewarded the dual wielding skill, being a PHD level programmer by managing to store an IA into an in-game object while having acess to the game's source code in the space of a few seconds, having genious deductive skills capable of revealing Heathcliff's identity in that perfect moment, and ultimately come back from the dead after having his brain presumably fried by the nerve gear after dying against Kayaba. Basically Kirito can do anything, no normal person would ever be able to pull off the stuff he does. Some of it maybe, but not all of it. And especially not a 14 year old child. That's why people call him Jesus-kun. I really hope you can make me see the guy as good character in your video, because right now i only see a really big example of a Gary Stu fanfiction-like character.

Well, I will make that video eventually, but with Alicization arriving this weekend and the fact that I'll be focusing on my Alicization Explained series, along with Uni starting next week, it is not in my plans, so I'll try to shortly answer the questions you posed in the reply to my best. > but that doesn't explain how he also manages to get 99% of the female cast deeply in love with him Keep in mind that when we watched Aincrad, we followed Kirito only around 1-2% of the entire journey. The key point is, we essentially met the characters in that huge journey, that became Kirito's close friends. We also saw people like Sasha, Yulier, Yolko etc who did not become close friends with Kirito because they had their own set of friends already. Meanwhile, both Silica and Lisbeth were alone. Lisbeth lost her entire set of friends and Silica was a "mascot" for people, not a friend. This was also exasperated by the fact that Silica was literally saved and accompanied to happiness again by Kirito, while Lisbeth had an extravagant adventure for the first time in her life, with Kirito's carefree attitude. > naturally having the best reflexes out of all the players thus having been rewarded the dual wielding Sure that is an argument. The counter-argument is, protagonists are protagonists, because they are above average characters. It is not very fun or interesting for that matter, following an average player. If Kirito would not be the best player in SAO, I can guarantee you we would be following somebody else throughout the journey, instead of Kirito. It's the same reason why we follow Luke in Star Ward, Harry Potter in Harry Potter, Frodo in Lord of the Rings. Because all of these characters, have at least one singular trait that makes them the protagonist of the story. > being a PHD level programmer by managing to store an IA into an in-game object while having acess to the game's source code in the space of a few seconds I actually very recently cleared this in my Journey So Far (Aincrad) video, but essentially, Kirito didn't hack anything. Anime portrayed it in a terrible manner, but what he did was using the Admin Console that was activated by Yui and copied his code onto an item. Best case scenario, Admin Console is a convenient UI as it is in many games and Kirito didn't do anything more than a drag and drop. Worst Case scenario, Kirito already had a decent amount of programming knowledge beforehand and he just copied and pasted the program/item via the command prompt. For reference, the Linux commands "cp" and "mv" are commands every beginner programmer knows. > having genious deductive skills capable of revealing Heathcliff's identity in that perfect moment He already had his suspicions all the way from their duel when he dueled him before. But at that scene, he doesn't deduce that he was Kayaba at that point. After the devastating fight, he was already emotionally unstable. That was his gamble, with the frustration of the situation they were in. He gambled that Heathcliff was protected by the system, seeing he once again, didn't drop to the Yellow Bar, just like he never did during the entire time he was known in the game. So he attacked based on that gamble, pushed forward by all the frustration that had pent up. He only deduced he was Kayaba, after he saw the "Immortal Object", because it only protects System Entities. > ultimately come back from the dead He never came back from the dead. I strongly recommend watching my Aincrad recap. He imagined his death in his head, as his HP was going down, mirroring the scene from Episode 1, where he imagined himself dying there as well. And he killed Kayaba, because he refused the systems judgement on him for mere seconds.

@@Gamerturk I never thought i would say that, but your explanations actually make sense. Although they're mostly based on the novels wich i admittedly haven't red yet. So the conclusion i got was that the anime just portrayed some key stuff really badly and made the viewers get the wrong idea about the character. Lol, it's funny to think that the TV show is what skyrocketed the series popularity while portraying stuff in a worse way than the novels did. I wonder if it would get as much hate if A1 had done a better job, they series might've been an even bigger hit nowadays. By the way, thanks for the reply, i see you took a good chunk of time to make a big reply to a random comment in your video and that's something most RU-vidrs don't do.

as a female player, that last line in true ending which itsuki told us "ill be villain even it means that i can have you" is actually romantic. im a fan of a romantic story as well. and as the character creation a agree with you that theres no single line for us to speak but i don't mind as long as i can chose gender. its a choice that i wait so long that just SAOFB had it in their game as a different people rather than as kirito. if you said its not releatable for us to high our affinity for itsuki for us female player i think you are big wrong, you see, if you are in the female prospective is actually pretty cute and romantic how itsuki always tease and joke around with her, and the urge for itsuki to want the protagonist attention is cute for female protagonist, but he do it in the wrong way. if it really turn out to be female as the main lead im sure after this event, after kirito told us protagonist not to come to itsuki in prison, im sure the protagonist will try to visit sometimes just like sinon. in fact im not 100% agree with you but yeah im dissapoint at some point.

There is alot wrong with the ending it seems that female protagonists ate destined to have a heart ache ending but from a womans POV i think the reason the main character wasnt mad because of how much the character loved him playing as a straight woman that makes sense e to me but if ur looking at it from a straight guys perspective yeah it makes little sense its almost like the true ending was directed to females just a thought ofcourse I may be totally wrong but yeah

So what if it sucks 95% of men in SAO are crazy assholes with no respect for women Agil klein & kirito being notable exceptions Also you thought reki kawahara could write a compitent story then you already Have to many ideas of this game Also tia's fate is in the DLC content which I believe is the real ending of the game
@Gamerturk
@Gamerturk 6 лет назад
I wouldn't go as far as saying "no respect to women". Its a Mature VRMMORPG, it's natural there would be players who try to get close to female players, much like it happens in real life. Trying to form a relationship is not really "disrespecting women". There are always exceptions that take it too far, but that literally happens in every game, even in our time. And it's not a one sided thing, we just see the one side of it in GGO, because male population is significantly higher than the female population. Should this been a female oriented game, it is perfectly plausible that you would see the other side of things. Heck, even in Fairy Dance, we see this with Alicia Rue and Sakuya, trying to seduce Kirito to bring him to their side in battle.
@KudaGeatsune3821
@KudaGeatsune3821 6 лет назад
Gamerturk granted but they were trying to seduce him that's different I'm talking about sugou trying to marry the unconscious asuna Kyoji borderline molesting sinon after the phantom bullet arc as well as his psychotic indolizing of her for killing someone cause he thinks its Cool And itsuki toying with the MC and several others for his own amusement that's what I mean when I say 95% of sao guys are terrible people with no respect for women
@Gamerturk

If you are under the assumption such people don't exist in real life, I'm gonna request a reality check on your end. Our real world is also filled with these kinds of deranged people, either in position of power or not. Just look at the recent Me Too movement that started blowing up in Hollywood, it's literally the perfect example.

Gamerturk I'm not saying that I've seen my fair share of crazy people but sao has made it quite clear that men in universe are more often than not terrible people it hasn't given the impression that there is decent men out there beyond a few exceptions agil klein thinker etc
@Gamerturk
@Gamerturk 6 лет назад
I genuinely disagree with that. Villains will be villains, but aside from the 2 examples (that were the villains of their respective arcs), men are not portrayed any different than women. Kirito, Agil, Klein, sure. But we have tons of others. Diavel, Keita, Kayaba, Eugene, Yamikaze, Dyne, many many other characters that are male, who do not take part in malicious acts. And then there are also women who are not playing by the rules in the series.
