I think it's quite obvious that reviews aren't really my bag but, I wanted to share some of my thoughts on 'The Witch', my 2020' Euro 4 Royal Enfield Himalayan 411. The time has almost come to move the bike on. This has been a fantastic bike in so many ways and I have made some lifelong memories aboard her. I'm sure it seems a strange decision but believe me, I have thought long and hard about this. I'm finding only having bikes is quite restricting, so one has to go as I cannot justify running 3 bikes and a car/van. Although the Himalayan is the bike that gets the most use, I can't possibly part with Ernie the Classic 500, and the latest addition, Gwenen the V-Strom covers most bases.

I expect 🐝 will be OK for riding round the mucky lanes that pass for roads in the west country. Absolutely pack in as much as you can before the government stops us travelling more than 10 miles from our homes. It will be sad to see The Witch go but fresh adventures keep us young.😊

I’m a little reluctant to subject Gwenen to the filth at the moment, but I’ll get used to it 🤣 I hope you’re wrong about the WEF cough cough government restricting our freedom to such an extent 😔 But anyways, I always squeeze as much as I can into life. It’ll be sad to see the Witch go, but I’m quite excited to return to, and take up some new pastimes 🙂 Thanks Lily

I have my work van that we sometimes use for personal use. Especially when climbing. When we were hiking in Snowdonia, the van was our home. So I get it. The bike is certainly a do it all, and does it pretty well too in my book. As my only bike, it suits every purpose.

Having a van as a base for that sort of thing is brilliant. I had a big van that my lad and I used to stay in when we travelled around mountain biking. I’ve bought a spacious car for now, but I’d like a camper of some sort one day. I’ll miss the Witch though 🫤

The Witch looks to be in great condition. I think you are right on target with keeping moving forward on new or different areas you are interested in. You will eventually probably return to a similar bike when time is right. Crhanges every one in awhile will keep you fresh.

It's done you proud that bike. From memory the Euro4 went much better than the Euro5 although the Euro 5 were easier to keep upright🤦. Is a good advert for long term owners. I haven't heard about clutch plates being a issue apart from itcy boots but she was loaded and had alot of tough terrain riding. Who ever gets this bike next will have a very nice useful bike.

No matter who is gonna get it, it will serve well I think. I remember the day when you showed us the new pipe. It was not so long ago, at least I have such a feeling. Anyway I enjoyed the "Vietnam rides" through the UK countryside fields very much. I hope that now it is time for the Vstrom. :) Great video Jeff, just like always. :)

That's a good appraisal of the Himalayan, mine is also coming up for it's first MOT. I'm tempting fate by saying that I've had no major issues with the bike, like you I replaced the relays with quality ones and put in an Iridium plug. The seat from SAS was one of the best mods together with uprated headlamp and spotlights. Mine was an ex demo bike so came with some extras already fitted. I do agree about a van, very useful I share an older camper van with the "Duchess" as we both like walking and photography and the van is kitted out for this. After a brisk winters walk it's nice to get back in the van for a nice hot cuppa.

Yes brilliant little bikes, proper workhorse. I’m only getting a smallish van/car but a camper would be perfect at a later stage. I used to have an LDV Convoy kitted out to some extent. My son and I would travel about a bit mountain biking. We slept comfortably and I cooked our meals. Love that freedom.

A great shame to see her go, it's served you well and taken you on so many adventures and made a lot of friends. I suppose I wouldn't have met you if you hadn't got the Witch... 🤔 We've been out several times and shared some laughs since! I enjoyed your walk around, nice crash bars! It will be a shame and you’re spot on with what you’re saying. Had some brilliant little adventures on her and there’s no doubt I’ve met folk like yourself just through having this bike. Very valid reasons for selling the Enfield, SB. For a budget bike it has certainly proved its worth to you and, as the old adage goes, "If you look after it, it will look after you".

I reckon there will be loads of these 411s for sale soon, the new Triumph 400 will be the king in this category, 452 Himmy looks awful i think. Seems a good reason to sell it to do other things.

Yes the value will be rock bottom with the new Himmy and the Triumph 400’s on the market. Just how the cookies crumble I suppose. I don’t dislike the new Himmy although I haven’t seen one on the flesh yet. They aren’t budget bikes anymore though.

Hi Jeff. Great summary of everything I feel about my Norman. The thing people probably won't understand, unless they've actually owned one for a while, is indeed the versatility of it. I can't think of a better "one bike for it all" than the 411 Himalayan. Cheap to buy as well, so you get multiple bikes in one for not a lot of money. I'll be sad to see The Witch go but our circumstances change from time to time and you have to do what feels right at the time. I fell a bit behind with the old RU-vid again and only found out that you were selling The Witch on the livestream last night 🤗 Having watched this video, I can fully understand your reluctant decision to sell. My 2019 himalayan has the paint peeling in the same place as yours, also on the footpegs. Footpegs are cheap and easy to replace. You look after the Witch so well. The new owner will be lucky

There are some hobbies we enjoy that we just can’t do with a motorcycle! A 4 wheel vehicle is a great idea!! The Vstrom will do you very well on the green lanes given the chance!!

Fully understand your dilemma. I reduced my stable to just 2 bikes (kept couple classics too which, are mot and tax exempt) with the family "pool" car for really bad winter days. Making memories is the important thing. You can always get another in the future. Impressed by the quality of yours. Alas my interceptor and 500 classic were not as lucky so moved them on. Enjoy your new ventures 👍

Hey Pike 👋🏼 Thank you mate! Yes tax and mot are part of the reason I don’t want to run 3 bikes alongside a car/van. I maybe keeping my eyes peeled for something exempt to mess around on. I take it the finish on your RE’s wasn’t keeping too well? The engine casings on Ernie don’t weather very well and it takes an awful lot of polishing to keep it right 🫤

@@Saddlebags73 The interceptor developed a serious top engine fault after 3k and exchanged under warranty. Kinda knocked my confidence in the classic 500 and also wasn't riding it enough. My Kawasaki w800 is a different kettle of fish however. Superbly finished and much more character than a Bonneville I had for a while. My triumph Bobber feels very well put together too. Shame, cause the interceptor was a great looking and riding bike👍✌

Oh those wonderful lanes running across a fabulous landscape, Jeff. I think it's a wise decision to take stock of what you really want to do for future years and after all you can always get something later on should you miss green laneing too much. The obvious choice of bike to sell would be Ernie as he sees the least action, but I can’t bear to part with him. Aah that's sad news for me that you're selling The Witch ☹. I'm keeping mine, a 2019 model with coming up 10,000 miles. All but 300 covered by me. I have the same sort of minor corrosion spots plus the paint coming off the very end of the rh swing arm. That's salty roads for you! Good luck with your new (ad)ventures, I shall keep watching and maybe see you on the road one day. Well, it’s going to be sad for me too. She’s been a brilliant little workhorse and I’ve made so many good memories on her, and she truly has exceeded all expectations. The small spots of corrosion can be expected when riding year round. “Bikerscampsite” isn’t one I know of 🤔 Have a good trip. Looks like you've looked after the Himmy and she's looked after you. As a bike that's been used all year round it still looks good. Hope the sale goes well. Can certainly understand wanting an alternative non two wheeled transport and life isn't just about motorcycling.

You've definitely put the witch through her paces. Yeah there is a bit of rust, but nothing a little grind down and repaint wouldn't sort out. Glad to hear the only issue was a simple spark plug change. Every 3k it needs a valve check? Wow that's very regular isn't it. It is very cheap, and the value for money has always been one of the strongest selling points of this bike. Oh I didn't know you were selling it, gutted to hear another bike won't be replacing it however I understand your need for a van, hope you find a nice little motor to replace the witch 🙂 Nice video mate, hope you're doing well.

Yea it’s been a brilliant little workhorse. The valve checks every 3k is a bit overkill I think. They didn’t need any adjustment the last two times. I’ll miss this one but I’m looking forward to a bit more variety with 4 wheels. Cheers Rhythmic, take care mate 👍🏼

good review. That's more or less why I am against interceptor when compared to w800. You can buy hardly used w800 for the price of a new RE650 and one thing is certain: you won't have to replace the chain, clutch, wheel bearings or cables soon...

Hi .. I made the mistake last year selling my 7000 mile faultless himalayan I thought I need a bike less .. have 2011 650 strom & classic 350...so last week I bought a bargain new one at same price on road ...as I paid in 2019....shameless plug for Hollywood service station up in dumfries I could not have a himalayan there bl......y brilliant atb dave.....😂👍👍👍

G’day Jeff, you’re selling the witch??😮. All sounds very familiar what with flaky paint on the forks & rust on the rails, just like the old fart looking back at me in the mirror 🤪🤣🤣. Variety in life is a great thing. Life is far too short to not scratch those itches. I also have to sell some bikes, six is just too many. Unfortunately the two 120 anniversary Royal Enfields will probably go, although they are not as popular/valuable over here. I’ve been insulted by values of around $7,000 each 😱. That’s less than half what I paid for them. Anywho bloke great to see more content from you, take care, shiny side up. Bah Bah & Hooroo for now mate.

I don't understand why you prefer this underpowered RE to the Suzuki V-strom which is one of the best motorcycles ever made. The v twin enjine has twice the power.

I actually prefer the V-Strom, I love it. I just need to get used to getting it dirty. The Himalayan got under my skin and I’m very fond of it, but I’m really looking forward to getting more use out of the Strom 🙂👍🏼

It’ll probably be worth 50p with the new Himmy and Triumph 400’s coming out 🤦🏻‍♂️ But it’s the general upkeep (tax, mot, servicing etc) that I can’t justify. Although I have considered SORNing it and tucking it away for a while 🤔

Don’t do it SB save the pennies for another year or sell the gardening equipment or the TV or even get rid of Sky TV etc but not The Witch 😳 the bike is YOU it’s the main part of your channel 😢 Whatever you do Butty Bach will be happy if El Nuevo Hombresito is saved and given a new adventure 😃 Ride Safe Ride NC DCT Dave & Butty Bach 🙂

Aw you’re making me feel really mean 🫣 She’s been a brilliant workhorse and I’ve had some great times on her, but it’s time. (Always time for a change of heart though 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️) Rest assured that El Nuevo Hombresito will continue his travels with me, most likely on Gwenen the Bee Strom 🙂 Many thanks to you both and take care up there 👍🏼
