3 Scary Allegedly True Camping Stories

Story two reminded me of the time when I was mid teens. My best friend and I went out on Halloween to mess with kids trick or treating. We weren't going to do anything bad just mess with them. So we started walking down our street , us two " tough guys " chuckling about what lay ahead when all of a sudden we heard the shrill cry of a screech owl. We two tough guys about shit our pants when it blasted again. We did the only thing possible, went back to my friends house and passed out candy. Yeah we were " tough " lol.

The owl story was depressing and horrific. Something like that happened at a farm i lived at when the foreman enjoyed killing the barn owls with a sick glee. I threw up when i came up on his carnage.

RIP family of owls.

I feel sorry for the girl in story 1. Her ex best friend is a b for forcing her to stay with that creep. It's not cool being a creep to a girl who clearly hates you and is clearly not interested in you at all. I wish that she had a report him for trying to s assist her. And I think it's f up that her ex best friend didn't be live her and gaslight her just because she didn't want to be live her because her boyfriend. Even do it was his best friend who did it to her friend. I am so glad that the story teller told her off and was smart 🧠 even not to be friends with her and that loser boyfriend and his creepy best friend of his.

I live on the gulf coast, West of Tampa in Clearwater. Years ago, I asked a friend of mine where alligators mostly go. He said, if there’s water, there’s gators. I was at a sporting training stadium once, with a chain Wing place on a title thruway. A free gators were always there. After fish you see the orange eyes. I walked to my car which Is parked by the water. I get too about ten feet from my car, drivers side on the opposite side. I look at the embankment and about six feet from my car, a roughly six to eight foot gator was lying on the grass. I stared for a few, weighed my options, and still being happy hour, I went back out to the deck and ordered another beer. Some things in nature here, you just let them be the boss. He was probably just getting some sun. I wasn’t going to risk it, though.

I was convinced my neighbor was a serial killer when I heard a woman shrieking for hours one weekend… till I realized it was just an owl 🙈

As a lifelong FL native that last story still somehow blindsided me given that these stories are all almost always about humans.

7:21 in the owl part is very true owls can make other nouses besides hooting noises they can make a screeching noise (hence the name screech owl google it) but most people are unaware that owls can also make a grunting sound that is creepy as hell first time i heard it i ran inside because i didnt know what was and only found out what it was after the third time because i just happened to see the owl doe (female deer) can also make a creepy sound when theyre frightened and if you dont know what it is it will scare the hell out of you truth be known strange to us sounds in the woods are perfectly normal and dont pose a threat to us at all its the animals that are threat to us dont make vocalizations as theyve been trained through thousands of years of evolution to be silent think about it you never hear mountain lions wolves or bears vocalizing when theyre hunting lastly when were in the woods people writing these stories often speak of the woods going silent and being creeped out by it that actually poses no threat at all to us humans as the woods going silent is just the small animals (squirrels birds rabbits mice) hiding from what they presume to be threat which is always us humans because they dont know if we pose a threat to them or not so they hide untill we they no longer see us or we stop moving and being noisy

First story why is the girl in that story telling her friend to have her boyfriend confront the guy? I get not wanting to start anything in the woods where she might not have had any help, judging by her so called friend's reaction. But that's just ridiculous. She could have just not spoken to the guy again or confronted him in a public setting.

Yeah...Manatees and gators don't generally harm one another, just kinda float along because the manatees are curious critters. So you see manatees on a river, it's not a guarantee of gators, but there is definitely a chance. Florida water is dangerous during the day, at night? Not saying op and col were being stupid but...ouch.

Story three went from 0 to a fucking 1000 in a matter of seconds. WTF

And as a Louisiana native, the actuality of getting a hand taken by a gator that fast is 0 percent. They don't snap off parts. They drag you in and wait to eat you.
