I like Terry but what was he really honest about? He got one handjob in 30 years? I don’t know why Neal didn’t ask real questions about this stuff like how did it affect your day to day life, what was an average day like, how much time did you spend thinking these things. It was all quite generic on both sides. ‘I felt like I was hiding from my wife’.. doesn’t really define anything. Almost Everyone hides some version of themselves or their thoughts from others to some degree. With the nature of this podcast I thought we would hear some real layers of these behaviors but ‘I liked porn alot’ ‘i watched porn in hotels’ didn’t really get there. Nice idea but not a whole lot of substance..

Correct. Addiction is different for everyone and the only real measurement, is if it affects your ability to have a functional and healthy life. People get mad at the “addicts” who can smoke weed all day but still love their wives and have stability. But the truth is, weed isn’t unhealthy and people can have a healthy relationship with it. That can be technically true with alcohol, heroin, and other dangerous stuff as well. Only you can know what is affecting your ability to be a healthy and stable and powerful human being. The hard part is being honest with yourself.

I'm with you but as long as we have a false foundation that there is something more than just these human bodies and people believe we have souls and etc etc we are kinda fucked, I'm similiar to you in that my chemistry is kinda fucked I was the same as Terry when I found porn it launched me in a unnatural direction in life I actually think growing up in a religous school and dealing with religion made it worse tbh, it's a complete shock to the body when you are told about God being up the in sky and life is all sunshines and rainbows and than you find a tape of a woman blowing a guy and your parents yell at you and just say "I will tell you when you are older." At an extremely early age I knew in a way humans are full of shit but it took me till the age of 24 to once and for all be completely done with all religions and philosophy.

@@SirGriefALot No offense, but I think you need to do a bit more reading about the nature of addiction. The personal responsibility model is just one way of understanding it. It's an immensely complex topic that can't be accurately summed up in a RU-vid comment. The fact is, some people are more prone to compulsive behaviours than others, for a variety of reasons. I'd recommend the book In The Realm Of Hungry Ghosts by Dr. Gabor Mate if you want to broaden your perspective a bit.

@@AirsoftTim92 it falls under a broader addictive scope, basically it falls under behaviour you wish to stop, knowing it causes negative effects for you, whether it’s spiritual, emotional or mental (usually all 3) - and not being able to do anything about it. It crushes self esteem, causes depression and can increase thoughts of worthlessness, so yeah, it definitely falls into the addiction sphere.
