This video is so synchronistic. When I go to my job. There is a corridor I have to walk to get to my dept. When I enter I feel like I'm choking before I touch the door knob. I even feel my chest tighten. I have been willing to "suck it up" to pay the bills and the money isn't bad but I just can't anymore. Thank you.

I’ve been there. It sucks. Obviously “sucking it up” is a sign of adulthood but using that as an overall life strategy it’s a bad bet. I made this new video in response to yours and some other comments: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nqk-v1mpSME.html Thanks for watching.

Me, too! The company I worked at, at our daily meeting, says "well, we lost a million dollars due to not having the equipment done in the time allotted"--then the pussified supervisor laughed about it! (Half the department texts about a good portion of the day in front of the supervisor, & he walks the other way when he sees it in front of him) In another incident coming to mind, the receiving clerk was hung over one day, and the supervisor's office was above the receiving area. The supervisor has some sort of illness where he coughs a lot, and the receiving clerk says "Joe (pussified supervisor's name), shut the f*ck up and quit coughing up there, I'm hung over and you're aggravating my brain (with conviction the clerk stated this). The supervisor then muffled his cough upstairs in his office not to offend the receiving clerk--I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. In the other incident (there were too many to list here by the way) that sticks out in my mind, was Leroy's incident. Leroy was talking to another employee for like 1 1/4 hours sitting & doing nothing, of course I get the pile of workload which needs to be done because I'm productive, when pussified Joe comes down from his office and tells Leroy and the girl he was hitting on for over an hour that "I've been watching you in my office on & off for over an hour, and I was wondering when you are going to do some work?" Leroy's response was "I'm talking to my bitch! Why don't you mind your own f*cking business and get the hell away from me!" (another mind-blowing moment for me in this hell hole) The supervisor then just walked away with his head down, and the guy who said this never lost his job by the way.The final straw was at the end when these hoodlums started bringing in firearms to work in the building, and what the company did was, at the meeting pussified Joe states "there is now a zero tolerance no-firearm policy in our building, and signs are on the building NOT to bring them into the building."When it was 90 degrees in the shop one day in late June, 2018, and to make a long story short, the 1st shift lead man's son who worked there (this company's un-verbal motto is "it's who you're related to, and how much ass-kissing one does" which gives you status to do nothing) tried to pick a fight with me because some hood rat I worked with told him I said something about him (I associate as little as possible with these types of employees there, by the way). With the firearm issue lurking, the amount of trash employees with their asses hanging out of their pants, the marijuana use in the bathrooms, the no-snitch policy the employees had there, the mixing of alcoholic beverages at work, the rap music being played coupled with dancing on expensive part boxes with them breaking when the employee broke the box after standing and singing on it & laughing about it, the employees smelling of pot, sex, & booze after lunch breaks, I finally said ""enough is enough" walked out, told the lead man "good luck with this trash working here!" Quit, and never looked back.What a horrible, profitable, poorly-managed company this place was. If I replied to everything wrong with this company and the hoodlums who worked there, this reply would be about 50 pages long, so I had to shorten the reply the best I could. If you work in this bad of a TOXIC environment, get out! Nothing is worth putting up with this crap.
@wisconsinrailstotrailscycl4277
The company had to put up signs for a "no firearms allowed in bldg." because a gun fell out of the waist band of a fellow employee's baggy pants was so loose, it fell out! I've shortened the response in the other comment to fill in the MAJOR things wrong with this company, there's way more...

I'm currently working in a "survival" job in retail and I absolutely loathe it. I disclosed my dyslexia to my boss and supervisor, as I was struggling a bit with the workings of the cash register and also I have short term memory problems. My supervisor treats me with such little respect and regard and never has anything nice or good or encouraging to say. When she's in charge of the store I am not allowed to stock the shelves and tells me to just stand there to greet customers. Once she put me on the cash and there was 20 customers waiting and I struggled immensely and asked for help and she rolled her eyes each time I asked and hurried through the steps and said "it's not rocket science." I stutter sometimes and she gets very impatient and tells me to "hurry up, you're waisting my time...get to the point!" My coworkers have noticed that she talks down to me. I thought by disclosing my disability it would help her understand my struggles and help accommodate my needs, but instead it's like she's using it as leverage to make the work day unbearable and extremely unpleasant. I can't figure out why she is such a bully. It's making going to work a dreaded, awful experience.

I found out what snakes in my company people are when my kid got a job there a lot of people didn't know he was my kid my kid told me stuff that people say about me plus I can't stand the supervisor wanted to grab them by a skinny little neck today and throw him into a wall today I did something that was following procedure and I got yelled at 4 it was a safety issue so for now on I won't have nothing red tagged or written up to get fixed if that's the supervisors attitude that's my attitude been with the company for 16 years don't need to be talked to like a kid especially from someone that's 10 years younger than me.

This video just speaks to me so much at the moment. I’m starting to have a lot of thoughts of wanting to leave my job and do something different...a change of pace, if you will. Where I work now, there are so many changes that are happening and they’re getting stricter each day. I get anxious about going to work, and I’ve been thinking of either starting my own health/wellness center or becoming a yoga teacher. All I need to do while still working is to learn to drive and then study to get a certification.

I finally got my business administration degree this summer but I had to work ar Burger King to afford it. I can't describe how much I hate this job, I think mainly because of the people and the managers. A toxic and negative environment where people are just consistently commenting and nagging about every single minor thing. Honestly the managers act like they're Gordon Ramsay and most co-workers think that we're running some kind of 5 start restaurant. I try to keep it cool but in my head I just wanna scream and snap at them.I don't know how much longer I can take this crap. My biggest fear is: "What if I quit and I can't get a job with my diploma right away"
@NamdevHardisty1
@NamdevHardisty1 7 лет назад
I’m just gonna say this: if you worked at Burger King to pay for a degree, you’re a bad ass. And, look, you might not get your job right away but you already know that you’re willing to endure some real BS to get the things you want. That’s rad. Now is probably a good time for you to start following Gary Vee’s stuff for that grind inspiration.

Thank you for your video. It is spot on to how i am feeling. I can add another thing more specific to my situation however others may be able to relate. Im in my 60s and i feel accomplished at my job ive been doing for over 20 years. However i now find myself surrounded and ostrasized by very young educated people who make me feel antiquated disrespected and unnecessary. It is taking a very big toll on me emotionally and physically as i find i cannot sleep. So its a bit premature but i have made the decision to retire and leave it to the young whippersnappers to take it over and do it better. Having made that decision feels like a huge weight lifted. Ive never been one to stick around when i dont feel welcome thanks again for your insight into this issue.

It does take time to find a new one, but if you're actively gathering information, figuring out what you want and don't want, and taking consistent action, you'll get there! And by KNOWING that you're doing something about your situation, it makes the job feel more tolerable because you know it's only a matter of time before you're out of there.

Hey man, thanks for this honest video. I've already gone through all these feelings: the first time was a lethal mix between deep boredom and feeling guilty for not doing so much. I quit after 6 months. The second time it was a storm of boredom, guilty and bad salary: I left the job after two years. Right now I'm thinking about leaving my new job after only 8 months even though it looks good on the paper (good salary, good careers chances, etc.). It's just that the job doesn't fit my personality and I feel shitty every time I wake up knowing I have to face that office and all that stress and responsibilities. Do I fear being unoccupied (especially now with COVID etc.)? Yeah, but I fear more being unhappy. Just to say: every word you said was true and I could see myself in your words.

I worked in IT at a university and I LOVED the job. It was very creativity based as the campus was media/design/gaming focused. BUT. I was made to leave as the campus as it's in the process of closing. I found a new job quickly for an insurance company. I work for a billion pound company helping to oversee their core insuring platform and I hate it. It hate it with a passion. The hours are unsociable the management are single minded and the work is very dull but very critical and high pressure if there is an issue it could be about £1000 a minute loss while a fix is found. I'm really struggling but this is the best place to work financially in my local area. I want to quit and become a full time youtuber as it's a passion of mine but I know that's just a pipe dream :( im looking round but all other jobs uninspire me to even apply for them.

It all depends on context. I quit my last job with nothing lined up because I wasn't gonna tolerate another day of BS. But, financially it was a terrible move and was rough for my family. On the other hand, my chronic stomach aches stopped the day I walked out. You gotta do what's right for you. Good luck.

Thank you for this video. I've working at his stupid call center for like a year and two months. Ive just been moving from job to job from the age of 18 (when i finished school) and i am now 21 (my friends and people i know would be graduating soon while im still with no valuable skill that would get me employed somewhere that has a good career path. Knowing me, i am too lazy and afraid to attempt to apply for a job that is outside of my comfort zone. It really burns me up inside like i am about to explode (like a jar with vaporising gas pushing outwards more and more as it vaporises). I potential to do anything in life but my stupid laziness and fear is holding me back so much. My supervisor is a condescending, rude, gossiping, toxic b*** and she has made my experience working here so bad. I feel like i am being suffocated because i cant even talk back because i ask for her assistance from time to time. What adds onto this is that i am young and i am wasting my time doing this dogs*** when i could be doing all sorts of thing This comment is all over the place, apologies, i dont think my frustration and anger has been conveyed. If anyone reads this, please give me sincere advice.

This supervisor/manager need to be put in his/her place you can do this by always have something to nagged his/her with question that you know nobody can answer, always bombard him and call her out in hallway whenever you see him/her not doing his job or wasting time. You got to return all his bad stuff that making you down dont absorb it and also dont invest emotion to that person. Whenever this manager go to your place always ask him why then follow by another why then say to him that he have consume more minute of the day standing micromanaging you but instead say that manager doesn't know his job and there might more email on his desk. Always tell when that manager or supervisor is being rude to you. Don't ever think that Manager are invincible they do that to you because nobody in his/her rank appreciate that manager and also turns out that manager has alot of bad loans and family expenses and they do this micromanaging to waste time. So you need to put that Manager on the spot. Keep your mouth shut to other coworkers as you know that your problem shouldn't be resolved by someone with same rank as you. By this time you should be finding way out of that workplace and get all the jobs pending so by the time you leave that manager will be fired.

Osman - Hi, Joshua here. First of all, thank you for the kind words. I’m glad that this video did something for you even if your personal situation is at a boiling point. You’re right that your comment is all over the place but you’re just dealing with a lot so its expected that you cover a lot. Without knowing you there’s a couple things I think you need to hear: 1. Don’t compare yourself to your friends. Yes, they’re “further along” on the traditional trajectory than you but by and large that doesn't mean shit. Do they have degrees that are even worth having? Are they on the path to doing something they love? If so, then maybe use that as fuel for your own fire but otherwise forget about them. I highly doubt that anyone 22 year old that you know has a valuable skill unless they're pursuing a passion that's consumed them since 10 years old. 2. You've stuck with a job that sucks for over a year-you're not lazy. If you were lazy, you'd say "fuck it" and quit. Maybe you don't want to get outside your comfort zone-I can relate- but if I had to guess I'd assume that you're too self-aware and that's why you don't apply for other jobs. You're assuming that you're not qualified and you don't want to waste people's time (or that's my guess). When you do this you're just firing yourself from a job before it started. Never fire yourself; that's someone else's job. 3. You need to analyze how you view yourself. I think you believe that you're lazy and scared but in reality you're just not doing the right stuff. Assume this: if you don't want to do something, its not because you're lazy, its because it sucks. If its something that shouldn't suck (like say learning to play guitar) then the way you plan to do it sucks and THAT'S why you're not doing it. Some mental (and actual) actions to take: 1. Approach your job as if you knew they were going to lay you off but they haven't told you yet. This will change your days. Its a lot of harder to bring home toxic stuff from a job you already know is over. It’s hard to take minor bullshit seriously once you've made this mental shift. I promise you that you will feel lighter if you flip a switch in your head that says “This might be my last week here. Lets go out on a positive note.” 2. Start looking for a new job ASAP. I know this is a shitty time but at the same time I see the job posting emails in my inbox every day. 3. Start focusing on the things that energize you again. You're young and you didn't mention anything in your comment about what you'd rather be doing. That makes me assume that someone beat it out of you. There's a thing that you love to do and you probably discovered it between ages 10 and 14. Get back on it. Not because you need to make a career out of it but because you deserve to be happy. No one owes you happiness but owe it to yourself to grab it. I hope this helps. Feel free to leave a comment if you want to chat IRL.

thank you for this video. can I ask what if you're made to feel excluded or have to ask for things to do?
@NamdevHardisty1
@NamdevHardisty1 7 лет назад
The exclusion one is hard. Your best bet is probably to try and reframe the situation so that you see yourself as the group and then try to bring others in to your world (i.e, grab people for coffee, when you bump into someone just say “Hey, you got lunch plans tomorrow”; stuff like that). Its subtle but the idea is you can’t be excluded if you ARE the group. On the asking for things to do front. You could set up a meeting with your direct supervisor and just say “I really like my job but honestly, I believe I can contribute more.” It’d be a good idea to even have a few examples of things that you think you could be doing. Another tactic is to just ask different co-workers if they need any assistance with anything-just let them know your day is kind of light and you’re looking for something productive to do (this might also help with the first part of your question). You’ll probably have to press them a bit because everyone always says “No, I’m cool” even though they definitely go home and complain about needing help. Lastly, you could just go after low-hanging fruit that gets ignored. If you sweep the floors because you have nothing to do, people will get the picture that you really need more to do. Thanks for watching and for the comment. Joshua

I've only been in my job for 3 weeks and it's only part time, but I have that feeling of dread... I genuinely hate having to go in and I get this horrible empty feeling in my stomach but I feel like I have to carry through for at least a few months but I know it's not what I want to do. The people are nice enough but I just can't get my head into the right place to carry on with it, but the problem, is I have no idea what I want to do afterwards. Any advice??
@ShainaLeis

Ahhh! I used to feel the same way. When I started my corporate job, I was only there for a few months when I knew I did not like it and wanted to quit. But, my mind tried to tell me, "You can't quit! You've only been here for 3 months. That'll look bad on your resume." So I ended up staying at a job I dreaded. Until one day, I could not take it anymore! I quit without a plan. I got another (lighter) job to pay the bills while I made it my mission to find work I loved. Since then, my life has never been the same. Anyway, I encourage you to take the time to get to know yourself and explore your talents, skills, passions, etc. It's the best investment you'll ever make for your future

Well you have two options- to quit without something else lined up, or keep the job while you look for another one. Comes down to what you value (freedom or a paycheck) and if you have the means to take some time off.

Thanks for sharing. On the one hand, maybe it sucks and you should quit. But, maybe they got an awesome vibe off of you and that’s why they hired you on the spot. Maybe they actually think that you would make a good addition to their tight crew. But absolutely don’t worry about quitting or confrontation. It should be as simple as “Hey, I appreciate the opportunity but its not working out and [fill-in-the-blank] will be my last day.” Good luck!

Wondering why you're scared to confront your manager? The one thing I've learned along the way, is that nobody else is thinking about your best interest- you gotta do you! If quitting is what you want and feels like the right decision at this time, you must respect that and just do it.

I was enjoying my job until the powers that be, didn't want me to. I was being micro-managed by 3 others, and sometimes more, although 'technically' I had one boss. Talk about people with NOTHING better to do to make their lives seem significant. So, that's 4 bosses for ONE EMPLOYEE! ONE EMPLOYEE! Sooooo Silly! Now, who's the silly one that remains under their employment?? I'm no kid, I'm responsible, I'm trustworthy, easy to get along with, and conscientious. Apparently, there is a problem with my ethnicity, my sex, and my high threshold for the ability to withstand abuse. God, I need a new job.
