Oversized frames work very well for progressive lenses. Hence you see older people wearing them. Makes cramming 3 prescriptions in a lens and looking good easier.
Gentle monster is really good for oversized glasses too. In South Korea, having a small face is a beauty standard which is why they make a lot of oversized frames. It’s also really good for people with massive heads like myself lol
Yes, finally! Sunglasses are one of my main fashion fixations. To me they are the most important accessory; very few notice how a good pair elevates the whole outfit, like shoes -the bookends of your style.
@@SchwappSchwopp unfortunately there’s no such thing as cheap and well made in the sunglasses scene. Not like Casio. The cheapest brand I could vouch for would be AkiLA
I think oversize frames are incredibly cool if done right, but can be super obnoxious as well. As for the office siren trend, I think it's just that - a trend :-)
Pharrell is 51 so he’s just referencing styles he lived through and probably wore. He watched Sally Jesse Raphael’s show just like all us 80’s latchkey kids. Now Sally knew what large frame glasses were! 😂
I feel like it’s a little cringe to wear glasses solely for fashion and not function. Sunglasses are a different thing, but even wearing those indoors is a little odd to me. To each his own, I guess.
i agree, i hate when people wear glasses when they have no need, surely it makes nice glasses frames for people who need them way more expensive. but mainly i think im just salty
100% yes!! i always say glasses and sunglasses are the underrated accessory that always add an extra umph that either completes the outfit, or takes it to another level
For me this is the first time in my life I can afford to buy multiple prescription glasses, online, to go with different outfits. An a lot of online eyewear companies offer a wider range of designs.
as someone who wears glasses everyday I feel like trends can be predicted a lot by what glasses are being made on the luxury side and I love how well this trend compliments outfits regardless of a person's class bracket. Love love love 2024 truly a great year for fashion.
Those frames look great on you! Lenses that make it possible to see better are an amazing technology all by themselves, and it is exciting to think about the potential for glasses to improve accessibility even more as tech enhancements are added to frame. And I love it that something practical that improves millions of lives is also a vehicle for self expression. Big cat eye frames are my thing every day, and I enjoy them so much that I decided to stop bothering with contact lenses years ago.
I love you take on the sports glasses. there totally is a shift going on. I use to hate the guys and the types of guys that would wear Oakleys but the vibe is changing and you can really feel it when I see action Bronson being in ads for them.
Great video as always man! personally I have been wearing oversized glasses since I understood my face shape back in 2018, and I've never looked back. I feel like especially with eyewear it's so important to be realistic about what you're working with as not all shapes work with everyones face shape.
bro, i just got into eyewear 4 weeks ago and bought 4 new pairs of sunglasses already. funny that you post this at the same time. eyewear is really underrated and has huge impact on an outfit.
8:20 I love oakleys cycling frames that are extremely popular.. had a pair, that got lost.. but they so mass produced that you can get them for less than 20 bucks now
Your classes are so incredibly cool! I looked them up, I had no idea this technology was already available! Can you please do another video and show us exactly what you can do with the classes?
Another topic that is't talked about much is haircuts, in my opinion a very important element in your own style, it would be cool if you made a video about it🙏❤
For almost the last year, I'm wearing the aviator sunglasses style, just inspired by Chief Keef in 2012, like the SWAG style that he blow up around those years, and I completly love it! Now it's a part of my fit. Nice video!
I’ve been a runner most of my life and when Bandit came on the scene, I knew it’d catch on as a fashion brand. New York based, in a city that’s been blowing up with running fever, with great fashion minds behind the scenes? It’s an incredible brand. Glad to see that you’re mentioning it!
omg ive been sooo into funky eyewear for the last like 2 years!! its such a fun way to spice up an outfit, add some colour or new shapes in, i rlly wanna expand my collection tho
I love eyewear! I have perfect vision though.. sunnies are my jam. I have some vintage aviators with leather side panels for winter.. or summer. And unfortunately I have to wear safety glasses at work but I try to get drippy ones
its funny to hear u discuss oakley’s and how they were perceived in the past compared to now because growing up i always thought if you wore oakley’s all you do is go to the gun range and fish and hit dingers (lol) but people like action bronson & larry june put me onto them and now i got two pairs of em myself
Ive been wearing prescriptions since 3 (bad genetics) and have a square face with well defined chin and cheekbones. I love oversized frames but wear them purposefully because they can make my large face appear even larger. I usually pair big frames with headwear or letting my hair down (instead of in a man bun) to balance out the width. i also recently been looking at even more futuristic eyewear brands like kuboraum and rigards. The ziggy chen rigards collab with clip on shades looking super duper straight out of the matrix and I'm strongly considering getting those
Can't agree more! Sunglasses have become a huge part of my outfits. I got a pair of KUBORAUM z16 tinted glasses and I wear them almost every day now. KUBORAUM is majorly slept on and their glasses are insane. They are pricey but they are leaps and bounds better in quality than most of my other glasses. Just ordered some Oakley's yesterday, it was funny to see them mentioned.
Any chance you could make a video about how face shapes play apart in which frames suite which shapes? Or if you have another video to reference in mind I would love that!
Love your video as always. In my country almost every girl with myopia wears big frame glasses in order to make her face look smaller since I can remember. I guess beauty standards play a big part in our choices.😂
My friend has oversized frames, she got her pair last year and I love them on her. I think she got inspo from Tyler but I would incorporate the whole granny style with it. (PVV) Right before the pandemic, I got my first pair of prescription glasses. I'm a homebody, so I don't usually wear sunglasses. I normally go for round frames but I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone by trying this office wear look :)
I will say love how glasses really can put a fit together. Either you need them to see or just for style it’s great. The Oakley resurgence caused by brain dead is great fun to see the company that made some of the crazy pieces of clothing and glasses. To get back into that bag. White dad core took those Oakley glasses and ran with it from now to then.
As someone with -8 vision who's afraid of contact lenses and lasik, this is cool to see. I wear blue light treated glasses when indoors, and transition lense glasses when outdoors. The only time I'm not wearing glasses is while sleeping or maybe swimming
Jimmy fairly make some extremely cool and funky frames. Definitely worth keeping an eye on them all lenses etc are made in France to order takes about 10 days to the UK.
I have a ton of sunglasses... I got a lot of the basics aviators, wayfarers, club masters, but I've been leaning into the sports wear kind alot lately.
I wear my sunglasses 1-2 times a week only in summer tho. I have a pair of rayban square and a pair of clout goggles (curt cobain type glasses) i rotate between the two depending on the outfit
#pvv I already wore shades almost every day. But now [as 1 of your more senior viewers] the eyesight is not what it used to be So I’ll be treating my self to a pair of prescription Moscots. BOP!
Been wearing prescription glasses since I was 4 years old but I’m just getting into embracing them as a fashion statement. Just got some leopard print frames which are fire👌🏾 #pvv
#pvv I recently went to Korea and picked up a couple gentle monster and blue elephant frames and I find myself reaching for them as an accessory to sort of elevate my outfit and tie all my jewelry together. I'm not saying that you need really expensive glasses but there a fun accessory and add some pizazz to the headspace of the outfit that I didn't have before. 10/10 recommend if you want to spice up a fit
I think eyewear is head shape dependent. I tried on a lot of eye wear throughout my years and I sort of have a wide face. If I wear oversized frames it typically just makes my face look bigger than it already is. I find that glasses with no frames I.e. aviator style look better on me since it shows off my prominent eyebrows rather than hide them which a lot of glasses tend to do on me.
there's something that pisses me off in ireland... people hate when you wear sunglasses when it's not sunny/warm weather. as if the sun disappears when it's not hot or not summer
I wear my prescription glasses for driving and stuff but i haven’t found a piece of frames that fit my face yet so i don’t rly wear glasses as accessories too much. If somebody knows what to look out for when buying shades lemme know😭😭
Much like knowing my body’s measurements for clothing, I know the measurements for frames that works best for my face. I also gravitate to a low and wider bridge because I have a slightly big nose, so this setup compliments my face best. As far as the oversized frame look, I just can’t lol. Maybe only with sunglasses, but prescription frames NOPE! I love the look, just not for me.
#pvv I've had a prescription pair of glasses for a majority of my life; but I've been really wanting to try different types of frames and such for a couple years now. It's just hard because I need my prescription to see adequately 😂 at some point I'll be able to get some cool glasses with a prescription but for now, I'm just rocking my one pair of black prescription ray-bans
In Korea, “office chic” is coded as “geek chic” - fuelled by the Miu Miu’s, Gentle Monster’s, and y2k maintaining its presence. Geek chic’s the biggest trend there rn and coupled with it increasingly becoming harder to find no-glasses in new concepts/looks in the music scene + the boom of (niche) sportswear/post-gorp, glasses are def more “in” than ever.
I am curious what category you would put the brand Rigards. A very artisanal brand with unique and complex designs. Or should they have their own category? 🤔
4:01 ‘91 here.. I’m reaching back to the 30s, and maybe even further. I do love vintage clothing.. even though, I get clowned for it by wife. I think a swim wear vid would be interesting.. I have a pair for swim trunks for the 40s that I wear, and yes it takes confidence, because it’s a “today’s modest” woman’s bikini; then 90s trunks. It’s underrated. But still crucial
7:59 // you are absolutely tripping if you think there are more people running today than ever in history. that might be the most outrageous take I've ever heard.
gentle monster has some nice glasses for everyday wear, cool sunglasses too. masahiromaruyama has some nice basics and also some very unique glasses that i've never really seen from any other brand.
also look into older models before they were bought by luxotica, they've always been pushing the boundaries with lifestyle frames, its just trending now and brands like braindead and piet are bringing some of those older models back
I was kinda thinking about getting a nice pair of glasses, but I have no idea where I should be looking for them, especially considering sustainability - how do I know the morals of a brand?
Great video. I’m a GenXer who graduated from high school in 1987. I just picked up a pair of Warby Parker, Winston Wide in Rosemary Crystal. They are oversize. My next pair will be the Ultra Goliath II, the glasses Elliott Gould wore in Oceans 11. I wear Oakley’s style sunglasses to Mountain Bike and as eye protection when on the range putting rounds down range
You kidding me? Glasses are one of the first things anyone fashion interested should reach for. Accessories in general are low hanging fruit, though jewelry is a bit trickier, but grab a pair of Wayfarers and you're good to go.
how does one who doesn't need presciption glasses get away with participating in trend like this??? I was definitely someone who got clowned for wearing "fake" glasses in middle school but its just cuz I love the look and vibe it gives off even tho i don't need them technically. would love to hear peoples pov on this
PVV: I already answered in my comment.. but since I an attention span. I wear safety glasses at work. But I have perfect vision. Yet I love eyewear. I try to get away the most fashionable ones I can wear, but I’m team sunnies
10:57 11:03 yep I f*ing hate this time I hate this type of tek it’s just not needed and get us more addicted I honest hate tek but I wouldn’t be typing rn so idk just rubs me wrong sigh am getting a old camera and flip phone when I fidgure this out
I have grey eyes ,so sun-glasses every day , Even winter. Large frames are ageing ,I'm 58 so that's a no no, I did Invest, they ar'nt cheap , in some Balenciaga glasses last year, dark-slightly large -sporty design, tic tick tic... why does 10 ounces of plastic cost £300.
Amazing. Thank God for His love, mercy, protection, and creations, and thank God during the highs and lows and God bless you and all of us in Jesus Christ’s King of all kings blood that was shed and name we declare and name we pray amen. 😊 Fantastica. Gracias a Dios por El amor, misercodia, proteccion, y creaciones, y gracias a Dios todo los dias mala o bueno y vayan con Dios a todos y yo en el sangre y nombre de Cristo Jesus Rey de reys amen.😊
