Iron deficiency is SUPER common among people who have IBS and SIBO, and it can be difficult to treat. But, it doesn't have to be that way. In this video, I'm going to discuss the three (well, four, potentially) things that will keep you STUCK in Iron deficiency if you're not careful.

Another little known inhibitor of iron is quercetin. Only a problem if you're taking a quercetin supplement and it doesn't help to eat/take your iron away from the quercetin as quercetin builds up in your system.

I started watching your channel a few months ago as an 'innocent bystander', but how things change! After watching my ferritin plummet over the past year or so, I had an extensive blood test, which revealed: endomysial antibodies = positive and tTG antibodies > 100. Looks like you've got me for life now.

I want to add, how i ended up with gastritis. I took iron tablets for a month and ended up with erosive gastritis followed by lot of digestive issues. Now i am working on my digestive track to build again. So i researched and found its better to take iron infusions or in liquid form. Please dnt take iron in pills form.

Okay, so a couple thoughts: -thanks for testing things on yourself! That's a really old-fashioned but wise form of doctoring that's widely out of style, and I really applaud those doctors who have that drive to know and thus improve the care they offer. -I have no idea when or why I subscribed (because thankfully, onions are still on my limited safe list!!!!) And you haven't come across my feed in months, but I'm super glad I checked my subscriptions and saw this! -because I'm allergic to ALL animal products (possible exception: honey) and am a grumpy and reluctant vegan. This is compounded by allergies to most other protein-rich foods. -Since I do have both endo and estrogen dominance in addition to the food allergies, I'm always wondering where my iron needs to be, and you really helped me understand this better. -Also, chances are good that whatever video caused me to initially subscribe mentioned Chronometer. BLESS YOU. I've been using it for months and finally my weight has stopped climbing, and I'm able to balance and supplement my nutrients better. It's not a well balanced diet but any means, but working with what I've got, it's certainly better than it was!!!! 🎉🎉🎉 Thank you!

Having low stomach acid also keeps your iron low. It’s a vicious cycle

Thanks. It's quite possible eating these nutrients together prevent iron overload, too, for nonplant life eaters. That's why it's important to know your heme iron levels, regularly. I'm menopausal, so I'm figuring out my iron, as I don't have regular periods. I get my iron from food, mostly. I notice I feel better, when I eat something from the red meat family, daily.

This is important. I track getting minimum 28 grams iron daily, do wholefood vegan, zero refined carb, and discovered via blood testing they when I do running workouts or cycling 5 days a week in the warm months, I lose A LOT OF IRON via sweating/ urine, so now I supplement vegan iron during heavy workout periods. Oh and ofc those pesty SIBO microbs gobble up my iron too😐

What if in reality your actually iron dysregulated and your body is just not able to use it? You need copper for ceruloplasmin to load iron into transferrin so that iron can actually be put to use. Importantly tho minerals that assist copper in doing its job, zinc, molybdenum, selenium and boron must be at adequate levels.

I'm definitely guilty of consuming too little iron 🙁 I'm curious to know what your thoughts are on using dessicated liver supplements to increase iron/ferritin
@mineralchief
@mineralchief 9 месяцев назад
Ignoring other minerals may indeed raise ferritin but as a result of collateral damage elsewhere. More than likely not iron deficient and much higher likelihood iron dysregulated. Copper and zinc may block iron (probably a good thing) and wont be able to use iron without them. I get 10mg from diet and probably only need to absorb one tenth of that, the RDA for iron is total bs, if spleen and iron recycling system are functioning properly. Absorption of iron is the first and least important step sadly.

I’ve been suffering with iron deficiency for many years. I’ve always been a meat eater and have it 2-3 times a day. Just did the calculations and not getting the 18mg/day. So I’m testing out Nano-iron. Absorbed directly into blood stream from mouth and no side effects apparently. Having no side effects so far and it’s been over a week. So I’ll see how it goes. 🤞🏻 going to have levels tested in 6 weeks.

Hi, what is the brand of iron? How did it work?
@zenzy88
@zenzy88 Месяц назад
@@alexisnannini2096 I did try it and didn’t have any digestive side effects. “The health factory nano iron” Although it didn’t seem to help. Turned out I had a hidden infection I was fighting, that wasn’t turning up in typical lab tests. I had a test done with a Lab in Texas, MicroGenDX. They use dna testing to find the bugs. After treating infection my iron is FINALLY coming up. Having another blood test soon to see if it’s come up further. ALSO! Excellent tip I got from Dr Karan online. A recent study showed that taking iron supplements was just as effective if you take Every Other Day! Especially if you have digestive issues from pills. He said that for some reason the body makes an enzyme to block absorption for a while. So it saves you money too 😉 I’ve been taking Thorne Ferrasorb (includes methylated B vitamins that help with absorption) they seem to be working so far. Levels went up 14 points in 6 weeks

Chronic SIBO here and definitely not iron deficient. Hemochromatosis means the more magnesium and zinc the better it seems.

Do you have any videos or information on endometriosis and what happens with sibo, leaky gut and other problems? I’ve got endo and I’ve not gotten anywhere in my treatment for 3 years now. I’ve also gotten AKATHISIA now I wish I knew how to fix this. You mentioned h2s messing with the cns I was diagnosed with that so I’m wondering how to fix the akathisia movement disorder. My doctor never tried or even knows about the bismuth so I think that’s one missing key. I forgot exactly which brand or how to get bismuth which one do you use can I order it? I can’t do pink bismuth.

How would one increase stomach acid if their iron is low? And they’re struggling with iron deficiency
@kasiapawlas1897

Stress reduction and mindful eating. Smelling the delitious food, thinking about it, enjoying it. Increases both saliva and stomach acid production.

I know that iron in food is the best choice but is there anything inherently wrong with the iron infusions? I don't want to take iron supplements since they make me feel horrible (even the iron skin patch) and my ferritin is below 25.

They can affect your phosphorous levels alot depending on which brand you get. They’re also highly inflammatory

Which of these applies when iron counts are normal and ferritin is low?

All of that advice applies for low ferritin. Ferritin is a better marker for iron levels. The level of iron in blood doesn't tell us much.
