I just joined Solar in Cali & let me tell you this NEM 3.0 as a starter is tough adding battery packs makes the profit margin less. Still learning as a setter but it’s definitely a Grind.

I started in November 2021 and trust me, better you got in now then have experienced the breeze it’s been only to hit the wall in April. I think the industry will recover we just need to wait it out a bit and get after it bro

Regarding selling solar in CA, the state has more than just the IOU utilities. There are like 40+ publicly owned utilities, 4 electric cooperatives, 3 community choice aggregators and not all grid tied solar PV has to be sold in the service areas of the major IOU where the new NEM (solar billing plan) rule changes currently apply ( SCE, PG&E and SDG&E). For example, LADWP in the city of Los Angeles still has solid export value for solar. There are others like PWP and Glendale Water & Power(just to mention a few). In the major IOU's, adopting solar + battery Storage is the way to go now. For the newbies, an easy free tip for "value add" is true energy independence. In my opinion, by coupling solar + storage and sizing appropriately, your client has options as a homeowner/prosumer. You have backup power, and you are positioned to participate in any future demand response programs(which has potential to generate revenue), virtual power plants and microgrids. By coupling battery storage, you have more control of energy export value and the ability to leverage energy arbitrage, which puts the clients ROI back to a reasonable time frame. Lets not even get into the future possibilities of setting your client up for success when we eventually start trading energy through smart contracts on the block chain and have bidirectional vehicle to grid charging(plug for people selling EVs lol)... @@JamestheSolarEnergyExpert yes, d2d for sunrun. I'm scared cause I'm 3 mons in and still haven't gotten a close. I hear about these outstanding closes by people online of 100 deals a year by top guys, it's hard to fathom. . Not sure if I just suck, or need longer to build my pipe, or if my market is too saturatated. Being that I'm struggling with closes now, has me scared for how things will be after April 14th
