Walt Grace Vintage It's a Humbucker Telecaster. I have a Mini Micawber Terz Telecaster & I keep it in Open G Terz Tuning which is essentially the same as the Keith Richards 5 string Open G plus the addition of a High G String on the Top or you can think of it like playing in Open E w/ a capo on the 3rd Fret.
@@murpsmanS.D. Lap steel 9k. That is similar to what Keith Richards tech put in Micawber. Square mount screw down. If you are going for a faithful replica that would be it! A 52 reissue, lap steel bridge, antiquity paf neck and a solid brass bridge. Me personally I am building a smoother modern version. The wax potted Seymour Duncan 59 neck and a potted Lollar J Street bridge 8.7k. Also am going with an ash body, a compound radius quarter sawn maple rosewood neck with tall narrow stainless frets, and a Gotoh solid brass bridge. A faster, warmer, smoother, more modern version. That is cutting edge. Cooper shielding, twisted wires, CTS pots and orange drop capacitors. Am very excited about that build. Always wanted a HS tele. But I am not going to even try to be a Keith Richards. Lol, Know myself well enough to build it for me.
Where did you find the Gotoh brass bridge? I found one on Ebay from Budapest that was perfect. I used SD Antiquity pups on both positions. the Lap steel pup took some modification to get to fit in a standard Telecaster pickup cavity. I had to add a steel base plate to be able to mount it to the bridge. I painted the body with Oxford vintage blonde, which is the color of the early Fender blachguards.
@@murpsman still working on my HS tele. Can't upload pics here. But on the Facebook group 'telecaster owners and modders ' have pictures of my HS tele build and the custom circuit I designed. Using a 1meg volume pot with a 330k resistor for the bridge pup and a 1meg resistor for the neck bucker. Parallel resistors brings the overall volume resistance to bridge 248k, neck 502k, and the middle position 335k. The middle position is actually 3 1meg parallel resistors because of both pups and the 1 meg resistor which equals 335k. Anyways, am going through great lengths to bring balance between the bridge and neck pups. Also, am usually a 4 way switch. Have an Esquire like wide open bridge in the first position. According to OMS electronics/electricity laws it theoretically should sound awesome. Haven't soldered it up yet though. Soon. Also, need to do a fret level and dress job as well intonation.
@@5150show Or as an alternative you could tune it to Open G Terz Tuning w/ 7-38 Gauge Strings which is the Keith Richards 5 string Open G plus a High G on the top which can also be thought of like this. If you took a regular Guitar & tuned it to Open E, then put a capo on the 3rd Fret you have Open G "Terz" Tuning.
Or what I do this time is I tune it to Open G Terz Tuning (w/ 7-38 Gauge Strings) which means from there I move those 5 strings down a notch & add a super thin .007 Gauge String for the High G. If you took a Regular Guitar & tuned it to Open E, then put a capo on the 3rd Fret, you can get a new "Keith Richards meets Billy Corgan Vibe".
