Hey Aymen, I just thought of a great tip. If you are riding at night 🌙 time. Slow down when coming towards another vehicle. Their headlight reduces your visibility, so by slowing right down. You are going to get a better reaction time to stop or swerve. If an animal, eg Kangaroo jumps into your path. I've always done this as a preventative action. Againt animal collisions! 👍🏽🍻👍🏽🙏Cheers, Anthony Emmett

@OldNotDead-Club thanks 😊 it's saved me a few times. I had a road train hit a kangaroo, just before I crossed him or her!! Some years ago and the roo, literally went over my head! Close call that one. I had to pull over and get my composure 😀 heart was racing 🏁 lol 👍🏽🍻

Tip: In the rain, drag your feet on the ground to test the grip levels, next latex gloves under normal gloves = heated gloves. When hot COVER UP not the other way around then open the vents and it will act as an air conditioner, every 100-200klms STOP no matter when you are and walk about for 5 mins then get going again. Carry water, fly spray and sunscreen and Panadol. First aid kit, duck tape, cable ties are a must, min tool kit and head mounted touch that has fresh batteries

My view is that a ride should never be a pissing competition , you want to race ? Take it to the track , anyone can go fast in a straight line , corners sort the men from the boys , also if ur gonna hook into it , know the route ,don't let ur ego outside your ability and your going to ride in a group yeh pack should only go as fast as the slowest rider.

From Vegas, last thursday i just did 1339 miles under 24 hrs (why ? Cuz i can...lol) planning your routes and stops are essential imo, i planned my stops to be an average of 150 miles (my tank will go about 220) hwy pegs are fantastic to stretch your leg (i ride a versys 650 ) i had my lunch packed (salad, spinach, tomatoes, ham, cheese) 2 small sandwiches, water and also electrolytes in another bottle. So no time wasted inside gas station and more time to rest. Half of the ride was on the oem seat and the other half i trew in a sheep skin. Left early morning so had warmer jacket and rain over the pants/jacket to stop cold wind. Once sun went up i just changed to lighter gear. At the end of the ride, my feet started to ache, i guess 20hrs in mc boots was getting a bit much. Next time ill bring another pair of riding boots.

Like others have commented I prefer to ride on my own when doing long trips. Depending on the route I tend to ry and minimise stops in the morning when I am a bit fresher and have more in the afternoon as I loose energy. Also tend to make the stops later in the day longer. If travelling at night, which I try to avoid, when I stop stay out of brightly lit shops and spaces, this gives your eyes more of a break. Lastly use ear plugs, reducing wind noise is good for your hearing but great reduces fatigue.

Emergency stuff. Arrange for someone to bring a tubeless tire repair kit, someone else bring a small electric or manual air pump, someone else a small 1st aid kit, someone else some minor tools like torx (particularly 25 & 27) and alan keys, #2 & 3 phillips, a few wrenches and some zip ties. Combine rest stops with fuel stops whenever possible, if ladies are on the ride, stop every 1.5 hour, limit time for lunch stops (avoid places that are super busy where lunch has to be ordered and cooked and the lass taking your order says, there's a 45 minute wait to get your food - you know that already means 1 hour +).

Great video. I’ve slowed down my style of riding over the years. I found I didn’t need to pass everything on the road. The rides I do now are with old farts, anyway. There is a riding group called the ROMEOS (retired old men eating out) and they pick a ride for the day, anyone is welcome and if if it’s not for you, a few just pick off and go their own way.

This popped up at an appropriate time for me, as I'm about to start planning a group ride to Uluru for Sept, or October. Warm enough that we don't freeze, but cool enough that we don't give ourselves heatstroke. All good tips that aren't generally talked about too. When you were talking food on the road though, I did spot the price board at the Kempsy servo. $1.53 for 98? Yes please. Cost me $2.34 last fill here in Sydney. Another lot of tax collectors.

A couple of years back my father in-law asked me to come to Austria, not Australia, to ride with him and his friends. Of course I said yes. So I'm coming from Canada to ride mountain switch backs. So they set me up with some ancient 600cc Honda of some type. Old, under powered, questionable rear tyre, but I still didn't care. I normally ride a 1204cc Buell that's far from stock, and would of been really fun in the twisties, but I digress. There was around a dozen of us. I rode in the middle of the pack. There were times I was slower than the rest but I'm riding an unfamiliar bike on unfamiliar roads. On one of our stops the one rider seemed agitated with me. I don't speak German so I had my in-law translate for me. He was pissed that I was riding slower. And actually said "are all your roads straight and no mountains like this ?" Yes ! They are straight. And no, I don't live in the mountains. And ours are nothing in comparison. And basically at the other end of our country from where I live. I hate riding with people like that. I'm not about to kill myself in another country because one arse hole is impatient. There is always the one idiot in every crowd. Nobody else had any issues with my riding style.

I ride from north of Brisbane to Sydney a few times a year often for family events and I want to get there as quick as I can, so I ride the Pacific Highway. Boring as batshit but it gets you there quick. There are average speed cameras on the road but they only read your front plate so they don't matter. I listen to music when I ride so I don't get bored (even in groups) and I learnt the hard way to stop at dusk and dawn (Harley Vs a big roo. The roo wins). I ride home through the New England Highway but there are plenty of cops there as well.

Most long rides with large groups are disasters. The ride has to match the speed of the slowest/worst rider. Throw in inexperienced riders and you have potential crashes added to the mix. A ride with a smaller group of strangers can be exactly the same. Running out of gas? If you don't have a clue how far you can go until you must gas up, you're doing it wrong... Maybe motorcycling isn't for you. On long rides the distance between gas stops & breaks should be discussed beforehand, with a clear understanding of who has the shortest range. (Well duh...!) 800-km in 14 hours? WTF...! That's an average of only 57 kph! Riding 800-km on backroads should be no more than about 9 hours of saddle time. Less if you ride at a 'spirited pace'... What were you doing during the other 5 hours? Pushing a bike that ran out of gas? Or was that just another example of why a group ride with strangers is going to be at the rate of the slowest rider...??? Riding at night with so many bugs on your visor that you 'had zero visibility', is asking to run into something. Could have been worse than a kangaroo... I always have bottled water and paper towel sheets in my pack. If you need to clean off the bugs, that is just another thing you need to better anticipate beforehand, or clean at the gas stops....

800 KM is the most I want to do in a day. Riding on the Interstate in the United States is about going from point A to point B. Much more interesting on the back roads and frequent stops are a must. The ride can be more fun than the event. If your always on the Interstate drive a car. Its safer and more comfortable. If your going to ride with that bullshit on your face just wear a full-face helmet. Much better protection against everything.

Thanks and well said. I like the open face helmet and I can remove the slave mask when it gets warmer later in the day. It's for the cold not protection.
