About Japanese Suzukis - Scotty was on to it this time. One way Suzuki did themselves in was to partner with GM who had them rebadge Daewoo designs for the North American Market. I have had a few Japanese Suzukis which have been excellent mechanically, especially the engines My 1991 Swift is still all original including the brakes and clutch and keeps up with traffic easily. The way it is going it will easily last another 30 years.

I'm surprised they're selling for what that guy bought the one in this video for because they were always in demand. I blew an engine in my F250 coming off the grapevine into Bakersfield. Strange that I got all the way over the grapevine hauling a huge 4 horse steel trailer with 3 ramps (super heavy) loaded with four horses. My veterinarian had moved there and I was bringing horses to him. He had one of these trucks. Then he bought a Chevy S10 when they first came out. It couldn't handle the weight of his vet box (they contain hot water as well as supplies). Dealer replaced something and it went less than 10k more miles and did it again. (Later they beefed it up -- apparently they didn't realize people planned to use it as a pickup truck.) So he pulled my truck and trailer with four horses on the flat into Bakersfield with his Toyota pickup that had over 300k miles on it. And he had his vet box on it because he was using it rather than have the S10 fail again!

Old manuals for sale. Take it for a test drive....quietly find a tree. Nudge up to the tree. Set the brake. Start letting out the pedal. If the engine doesn't stall at or before 2000RPM...the clutch is worn out.

Good tips. Thank you! But I think people are pretty aware of the value of the little Toyota pick ups. I get notes on my '87 from time to time from people asking if I want to sell it. A week ago a professional house painter said he'd paint my 2 story house in trade for the little truck. By the way, it's pretty easy to shift without a clutch...while you're saving up for the new one. 🤣

Where I live...I still see A LOT of old vehicles running around. Toyota mini trucks, Chevy and Ford pickups, from the 70s, 80s,90s. These are by no means restored vehicles. People maintain them...and just run them. The guy across the street from me, has an 88 Chevy, with a 350. It has almost 800k on it, and is completely reliable. He drives it every day! Never had the valve covers off of it!!! Another vehicle I see a lot...82 -95 Olds, Buick, Pontiac, Chevy sedans. And...Any Crown Vic!!! All bullettproof.

I bought a 2003 Susuki 4x4 mini SUV just a few months before the Pademic 2019 with 93 thousand on it. Been driving ever since, and it doesn't burn oil, very quiet. I just replaced the exhaust behind the cat, two pieces and that's all I have done to it besides regular maintenance. I am embarrassed to say how cheap it was so I won't. It does have auto transmission and yes it is gutless but its fantastic in Minnesota winter. And the Susuki wasn't a Minnesota vehicle so no rust!

Yay! You finally got an SX-4 to talk about! I was going to ask you about how reliable the engines were and you answered that question. Glad to hear the engines last a long time. I own a 2008 SX-4 with 21,000 miles.......Yes. That's not a mistake......21,000 actual miles. I inherited it from my mother. She bought it brand new in 2008. Mine has an automatic trans. and it gets up and goes just fine. But I baby it anyway because I can't buy parts for it anymore so I'm trying to make it last. The only bad thing about this car is I can't get parts anywhere since they pulled out of the country. If it does break I'm screwed :-(

I must say I enjoy driving that tiny thing!! I can easily go uphill at 120km (75mph?).. I feel safe solid driving even in our Canadian winters (6months up north).. it's now up to 377000km! A family member just bought a 2012 Suzuki Sx4 awd for $4500, only 123,000 miles on it! Had it looked over and all it needs is one outer tie rod, brakes, n rotors. (Gonna do both outer tie rods) Its an automatic and Ive driven it n i'll tell ya, in the 2wd setting plenty of pep n pickup getting on the hwy! I actually love that lil guy lol lol..

Nice video! I'd love an RX300. By the way, my V8 1UZ VVTI is an interference engine. Bought it at 170,000 miles three years ago and immediately changed the timing belt. Now at over 200,000 miles and running smooth.

My 07 highlander has a timing belt but it's a non interference engine. Older vehicles are better than new in my view.

I'm glad my Hyundai Elantra is paid off. Only paid 13k for it. If it makes it to 150k, I'm happy. These car prices today are insane.

Grannies cars usually have bumper dents, or they have run over stuff. Check the undercarriage.

Suzuki are a great car, very popular here in australia.the 1.4 litre turbo with a regular 6 speed auto is phenomenal. Suzuki should try again in the USA. You guys are missing out

To be away from EV trap, we must maintain our cars specially with manual transmission, so we can drive them, forever. And Scotty mentioned it can go even 400K miles.

In my opinion it's one thing buying from a granny if you need a decent car yourself, quite another just to make a profit from it.

Rubber timing belts are usually not too bad to replace when you can see the entire timing cover. I'd rather have an easy to change rubber belt than a difficult to replace chain. They cram stuff in there so tight that an easy to service late model is hard to find

Purchase my wife and 05 Suzuki XL seven that was the best SUV car we’ve ever had and we own about 15 cars that car was bulletproof. My daughter wrecked in the front got a fix was still going strong that car never gave was not one day of trouble and the only thing that ever has replaced on that was just the tires and the belts and that was it. Everything still worked on the car we loved it. I’m so sad that they pulled out the market because our next car would’ve been another Suzuki.

Well I just picked up a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire with 105,000 miles for $100. Had a check engine light that said PO303. After replacing the old battery. The battery read 12.75 volt 100% charge and only 235 cca and 59% life.

That's a great price, good for the new owner. In Canada with an 06 Highlander with 450,000km for my US neighbours that's 280,000 miles. That Lexus will go forever. Thxz Scotty
