Fishing a soft plastic worm wacky style means you are going to rig the worm with a small hook through the center of the lure. This is different than a texas rig and really helps make the bait fall in a unique way the bass absolutely love.
Wacky rigs can be fished around shallow water and even around heavy cover such as docks, letdowns and grass.
One of the biggest keys to fishing a wacky rig is really to let the lure do its own thing. You don't really need to impart a lot of action on the bait, simply let it fall.
The action of the soft plastic will typically trigger bass the are active and inactive to bite.
BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

I make my own stickbaits. I don’t add salt or any sinking additives. My bites skyrocketed because they hit it better suspending rather than sinking.

Excellent tips. I never thought to lift my rod up after casting to provide slack for a natural straight fall instead of a useless pendulum fall. Thank you.

I saw a tip for the wacky rig to help preserve the worm. I can’t remember who did this, but the guy used clear electrical wire shrink wrap. I had some black so I tried it. I caught 6 bass on the same worm and there was little to no damage to the worm. Enjoy.

The Berkley General powerbait stick worms are PACKED with salt. They have amazing action and are also very durable. I have a lot of yamamoto soft plastics, but both styles of zakos are my favorite! Very versatile. Can be used as a Chatterbait trailer (split tail) or use the pdl tail with a weighted underspin EWG Berkley Fusion hook. But you're right about the hit worms! For some reason, bass LOVE the 7" bubble gum worm. I don't really know what it imitates, but they eat it like, we'll, bubble gum lol. Thanks for the videos! Love watching them!

This info was PURE GOLD for me. I'm just learning to use my Spinning combos (Lews MACH CRUSH and Lews PEARL) after years of fishing baitcaster combos. Now that I'm in my older years I'm finding that a Spinning combo is lighter to handle. I'm using lighter baits also and trying some micro lures. That said, this was EXACTLY what I wanted to see! I prefer the Yum Dinger precisely because it falls so slowly. It’s great for the super shallow stuff I fish. My highest percentage spot in my lake is where a lay down touches the bank. With less than a foot of water, that slow fall is 💰

Good tip on the knock off. Bank fishermen tend to not have money for a skeeter. My buddy and I like to keep a big fish in the basket for antagonizing the the guys in the shiney boats when they fish past us before we let them go.😁

The wacky rig is my favorite way to fish a worm around rip rap even when using a small weighted wacky style hook. It doesn’t get hung up near as much as a shaky head or Texas rig. Dead sticking a wacky rigged FCL 6.2” Mid Mag worm has been very effective for me lately. I’ve even been catching some large white catfish this way. Great tips!

@@BassFishingHQ After reading “Knowing Bass: The Scientific Approach To Catching More Fish” I started infusing earthworm scent into my plastic while making my worms. It ranked off the charts with flavors that bass prefer. I believe that is why the catfish are biting it too. They come over to investigate and get a taste of the earthworm, and it’s game over. You have covered many points in your videos that are explained in “Knowing Bass” which leads me to believe that you may have read it. If you haven’t, check it out. Oh, I do mainly catch bass. The catfish are just a fun bonus. Lol

Any time that I get a wire coat hanger I will cut several 1/4 inch pieces and throw them in my tackle. When I don"t have any high salt baits or if they're not biting the others I just slide a piece in each side and cast away!
