Some of these napkins can only be done on a sewing machine or serger, but there are ways to hand sew them. You can take a look at our tutorial on different ways to sew hems: www.onlinefabricstore.net/makersmill/different-ways-to-hem-fabric/ The invisible hem with bonding tape and hand sewn blind hem are done without a machine. If you want to be able to see the raw edge of the fabric, there are decorative stitches like the overcast or blanket stitch you could try. If you want the frayed look, you could use the back stitch, which is the handsewn alternative to a machine straight stitch, then fray the edges like in the video. We don't currently have tutorials for these hand stitches, but there are plenty out there!

Keep on sewing. Watch RU-vid tutorials on sewing machine maintenance for old and new machines. If you can, go to thrift stores and look for machines. Maybe you won't get one this year but when you find one, you'll be prepared. When I was 12, my mom bought me a used machine and I would sew for my Barbies. Wish I would have never quit but I'm getting back into it over 40 years later. Have fun!
