So apparently, the reason why Asian hair is like that lies in the type of environment in which they inhabit. East and southeast have very high humidity, so very straight and thick hair helps to keep excess moisture out of the scalp and skin, same reason why Asians have smooth hairless skin. Curly and wavy hair work better for drier climates. This also applies for europe, southern europe is much drier than and curly hair is more common.

@@AnimeDGhmit’s gotten longer but not super long. it still sticks out but it’s long enough to just brush behind my ear. i still don’t know how i want to style it because it’s not long enough. i’ve just gotten used to the way it looks now lol

I'm half Indian and half Korean. I've mostly been using the first method. I' ve been only getting short style cuts and it looks good especially for a teen like me. I sometime make the front messy and it looks pretty good. I'm trying out different hairstyles that suit my asian hair

I’m Portuguese, but my hair is like this - black, dense, and porcupine-like. I suspect I have Asian ancestry from my mom’s side of the family, who are from the Portuguese archipelago of Madeira (which has had an influx of immigrants from all over the world for hundreds of years). My grandfather and some of my mom’s cousins literally look south Asian. Weirdly enough, though, my hair was brown and had a much lighter texture when I was little. It gradually changed to its current state around my adolescence.

The same goes for South Asian hair too, i never thought spiky hair on the sides was a problem though and always thought South Asian hair is quite different from East Asian hair, cos everytime I wanted east asian style bangs, my Indian mom would go like 'East Asians have very fine and straight hair' but when I got bangs i realised my hair can rock them quite well hahah. Cos East Asians get perms for wavy hair but mine are naturally that wavelength so that works good for me lol. :P

Greetings from Mexico. I have no asian background (to my knowledge) but my hair does this when it's short. However, if I let it grow it doesn't stay straight, it starts to wave. So it's technically 2b hair, but it looks like straight asian hair before it reaches like 3 or 4 inches. I saw a chinese man with his hair looking like mine, and that's how I got here.

I too have like this type hair which grow outwards and sharp.it’s not getting smoother unless i use head cap and I try using lots of products please suggest any medical treatments so that I can get smooth hair and not grows outwards

Atleast the hair sticks out only in the sides, for me all my hair is spiky as hell, it sticks out too much and doesn't stay upwards I hv nvr used a hair product nor hair dryer cuz my parents hv prob with tht

Us mexicans/ native Americans have the same porcupine hair. I use African American leave in conditioner and it after a couple hours makes my hair more manageable.

I guess everybody has their own idea of what looks good. Personally, I don't like hair shaped to the scalp like pressing it down especially when the volume isn't enough cause that will make it look bit awkward and deformed unless your head shape is aesthetic lol cause flat hair will take the shape of your head.
