Scotty my 03 jetta has gone through 3 alternators and batteries within a years time i the first w were oreillys rebuilt alternators and the last one was a new one, the belt tensioner is good any idea on why my car could go through that many alternators?

Scotty, I truly love you but you need to use the Fantik correctly. You HOLD the button down for boost mode. Works great as shown in my video, if someone pushes boost by mistake the leads can short, that's why they did it that way to not blow someone up.

I love Scotty Kilmer; gets items *for free* to review, and gives a review that is unambiguously bad. I mean, it's crystal-clear how Scotty feels about it, and I really appreciate the lack of sugar-coating. He doesn't like it, and he thinks you'd be stupid to buy it. I mean this sincerely: _THANK YOU!_ A lot of other professional reviewers will still try to be favorable and wishy-washy so that they don't lose their sponsorship. I can understand why they do it ... but it still sucks. This is *not* an issue with this channel, and I *LOVE* it.

Scotty, as many users responded, you did not operate Fantik correctly. And you even did not try to power on the nucam in the video (green light will be on, then off, then flash). It works excellently for me. I can use it as a backup camera on the road and also as a surveillance camera which can be hooked to my home WiFi. Auto mechanic for the past 50 years? Maybe those new products just do not fit an old geek who does not read manual but rely on his old school learning.

Seriously. It seemed to me like user error on the battery jump starter. I have one by hulkman and it’s fabulous with its two button (typically one button needed) operation. One thing one might not know if one didn’t read the manual is that there is a way to disable the protection circuit so it’ll output power even if the car battery is completely flat. I would not be surprised if this one is the same.

He did read the instructions. He showed the instructions, which are printed in big letters on the back of the product. It didn't work. Maybe the product was malfunctioning or defective.

Scotty you have to press that button and hold it until it says "ready". I believe it say 5 secs( I don't have my manual in front of me). Without depressing the button the charge is potential energy, i e., stored. Good for charging things. Once the button is pressed for the stated seconds the energy becomes kinetic (moving energy). In this case "moving" out through the terminals to your vehicle. The damn thing works!!! I jump started my 05 Sequoia! It turned that starter over sooo fast. I also jumped started my riding mower. It works if you read the instructions and comprehend the words and sentences!!! Come on Scotty I follow you for a reason and half doing crap ain't the reason either! Try it again or not! I am not paid and yes I do own one and I bought my Daddy one too!!!!

weird to see him not read the instructions. also might need to upgrade his hands so he can take that out of the box. welcome to 2022 scotty, some of the newer cheaper stuff works, you just have to read the first page of the manual. the one button should have spoken to him more than it did lol.

Hey Scotty, if you had placed the Fanttik jump starter in manual override mode it would have started the car. This is done by pressing the power and light buttons together for 3 seconds. In manual override mode, my device outputs 16V to the clamp connectors more than enough juice to start that car.

My Fantik worked on my riding mower and on my RV. I also use it for charging my phone when I travel.

Sorry Scotty, but I believe you didn't use Fanttik jump starter correctly. It has override mode in case when battery voltage is 8V or lower. To activate the override/boost mode, you need to press power button and flash light button together and hold for 2-3 seconds. Once displays "ready " you start the engine. I just used it on toyota's diesel 2.2L and VW's 2.0 L diesel engine that were sitting for over 2 months. It started them up without any issue, bringing up that both batteries were below 8V

I think you used the jump starter wrong. When you hold the switch a green light comes on with battery percentage. Then you hold it 2 seconds. And it will jump from the low percentage to 15 volts. You may get yourself in hot water if you don’t follow directions. Love your channel BTW. No hate here .

Seems like the jumper you tried just needs more instruction reading before use. I have a similar one and just like you couldn't make it work and decided to check the manual and realized I missed some button or did not press it long enough

@@TheBrattypopstar741 low battery and dead battery are two different functions. That’s the difference. He was using it wrong and literally failed to follow the directions. Just as he used the “boost” function on his jumper, he needed to use the same in the fantik

@@TheBrattypopstar741 that's a lottery. If the battery voltage is too low, it will think it detected an error and refuse to work. Those cars where it worked had just enough voltage for the jumpstarter to think everything is fine. You can say that this mode of operation is stupid, and I'd agree - when are you connecting this doodad to your battery if not when the battery is too low to start? Why would you have to take an (obscure) extra step to make it work in this situation? However, that's how ALL of them work, including the Gooloo. They both did the same thing, only difference is that he used the Gooloo correctly. If he had RTFM'd, he'd have had one less item for this video. That's the danger of listening to his advice. He's highly opinionated and not as knowledgeable as he thinks he is. Whenever someone sounds that cocksure, I take what they say with a grain of salt (or several).

There is hardly anything innovative being developed these days. The majority of products being pumped out are generic crap with a brand slapped on it, maybe a custom case design, often just a different label/silk screen. Including tons of good old trusted brand names. A real shame.

The Fantik one is really good. I have it and there is a mode you need to put it in to start a battery that is really dead. I have started a car with the fantik jumper and the battery was only outputting 9v.

The Fanttik has 2 buttons which must be pressed to activate manual mode for low voltage batteries, below 8 volts. After this review Fanttik is running a flash sale. Quick go buy one before Scotty changes his review and the price goes back up!

I really like this series. I trust your opinion on good or bad products because you are almost always right about cars. You can't trust online reviews for sh*t these days. *I've got a Noco Boost Pro that I keep in my car. It also has the extra boost button, and an emergency LED light. It works great, and retains a full charge when unused for a year. I've jumped a few vehicles at work over the last few months. Excellent product.*

I have a NOCO genius boost GB50 that’s a few years old. I don’t think they make that model anymore. Same deal though. Holds a charge for a year and rides in the trunk and performs when called to duty.

I started a dead Pathfinder with a 12 volt rechargeable lithium battery from a power tool. No handy booster cables so I used a piece of scrap extension cable from a table lamp. Now we have 18 and 20 volt power tools so don't ditch the old 12's.

I have a NORCO Lithium battery starter unit that I keep in each car. They work great. In -30C temperature with a dead battery, they worked very well when the battery was flat.

The Fanttik is great. Woke up to a dead battery today and mine worked perfectly. Scotty you never activated the jumper, you have to push and hold the power button and the side button and wait for it to say Start. Worst review I’ve ever seen. Like you didn’t read any of the instructions and just bashed on the product as if someone (gooloo) paid you to do so. 👎

LOL did YOU bother to read the instructions? Go to 1:48 and PAUSE the video. The instructions are printed CLEARLY in large letters on the back of the unit! 1. Attach clamps. 2. Press button for 2 seconds (no mention of having to press any other side button as you are claiming). 3. Ready to go. 4. Start vehicle. Obviously Scotty would have done this. And don't be absurd in thinking that Scotty wouldn't have read any additional "paper" instructions that might have come with it -- of course he would. The unit just didn't work. If Fanttik is actually a good product then more likely the company just sent Scotty a defective product.

Scotty is crazy. He doesnt know how to read instructions, also seeing him trying to use a phone is even funnier. I watch him for entertainment he never disappoints.

I just got a Hulkman jump box as gift, haven't tried it yet but, reviews seem legit, and the packaging was spot on... However I do have personal experience with the "Noco Genius Boost GB70" (12V- 2000A) and have all positive to say about it, well worth the money, especially for how small it is, we have big jump boxes, the size of smaller Jerry cans that can't do the jobs that little thing does.

I have used many of this jump starter and there's an option available when the car is completely dead, you have to hold to buttons together or maybe this one is different to activate it. I have this company small electric screwdriver and build quality is amazing Model：T8 APEX Manual Override: - The lowest voltage that T8 APEX can detect is 2 volts. If the vehicle’s battery is depleted to less than 8 volts, manual override will be necessary for the jump start. - Press both the power button and light button at the same time for 3 seconds to get force output, when the "START" indication is shown on the screen, start the vehicle. try this option^ remember this are small portable jump start, they expect most the time battery has some power left. I mainly use the hulkman portable jumpstarter and it works the same way when battery is completely dead it won't work if i don't hold power button with light button same time.

I live in Ak. We use those jumpers all the time. They are all finicky. Usually it's the terminal that's dirty inside that causes those to not work. Looked like you did not push the button after you hooked it up to the battery. I'm not watching again, but you pushed the boost button on the second one.

I have a Hulkman 85S jump starter I'd recommend, and if the battery is too flat, the jump starter needs to be put in manual mode as the weak battery state can sometimes be too low to work in auto mode. It also fits tight in the case but not as tight as Scotty's example.

@@ChernobylPoptart yeah, it seems like a beast of a starter. I've also witnessed the self protection module at work while trying to start a friend's van. After several tries it went into safe mode to cool down. The van wouldn't start until we replaced the cap and rotor.

Ditto. I have the hulkman as well. My guess is the fanttik has a similar protection circuit as ours and a similar way to disable it as ours. Scotty did not RTFM 😑

The fantik ta apex DOES HAVE a BOOST feature. You have to just press the light & power button at the same time the pack will go to full power with 16v & will work fine. Please check the feature out.

I got an android radio for my Camry from some Chinese company. First one smoked and blew half an hour into using it. Second one the display would flicker on and off. Finally got my money back.
