Yes guilty of 'cramming ' training. It's all or nothing for me. Not good. Thanks for this reminder James. 👍

I’m training for my first marathon. It’s on April 14th in Limassol, Cyprus. I chose this one to be my first one because it’s my hometown and is mainly a flat route. I know it will already be too hot in Cyprus by that time, but I’m used to running in the heat. I follow your advice to make it safe and sound to the starting line. I follow an 18 week plan to make sure I will have plenty of time to prepare for the race and have time to taper myself. Unfortunately this week I am not training at all due to covid infection. I hope I can soon return to my trainings.

I’ve liked watching your videos over the last month but this week noticed that they’re all beginning to be swamped with ad breaks. There’s no reason a 5-10 minute video should have 4+ ad breaks. Long term I think it detracts from the views for your channel. Something to consider. Anyway, appreciate all the info I’ve learned from your vids and happy holidays

Training for a 34 mile ultra in May. Still on the mileage increases at the moment with shorter stints at a higher speed.

Those Coros plans look tough! working up to 5 runs per week, some over three consecutive days? Not sure I’m looking in the right place though. I was looking at the HM plan. Has stride running on the day before race day. Surely that can’t be good?

Training for Newport (Wales) at end of April 2024. Broke the sub 3 barrier in my 4th marathon this September with a 2:59:30-put on a bit of weight since but got a bit faster at the 5k/10k just in the last 2 weeks for new PBs. I'm setting a scary goal of sub 2:53!! Starting a 20 week plan and this week will be 61.5 miles, my plan peaks at 74 maximum. Hope you are doing OK with your own running James!

I’m “training” for Boston, but I can’t right now b/c I’m dealing with a hip injury. Timing couldn’t be worse.

17 weeks and a few days away. I hope you will be able to get better and build some miles in the next few weeks and then do a 12 week plan.

You should not be afraid to just pull out. Short term pain, long term gain. They say hindsight is 20/20

Thank you. It’s Boston, I’m not ready to pull the plug yet. Took me 15 years to BQ. I need to talk to some Drs & see what they recommend. Still hoping I can salvage it.

@@seeleftyrun I speak from recent experience. It's up to you if you want to press on. That's admirable, and I've done similar, but I did question (afterwards) if that was really worth it

@@seeleftyrunif it really took you that long to qualify then probably you won't run a (significantly) better time anyway. So why not kick back, relax, heal and come back to training gradually for 8 weeks before the event and let it be a nice celebration of your 15 years of work? Just enjoy it! Don't let your body break from pushing it.
