30,000 KILOMETRE REVIEW - ALL THE ISSUES/PROBLEMS ON MY 3.5 YEAR OLD ROYAL ENFIELD HIMALAYAN

Love your channel. An Indian Himi owner that speaks English and passes on quality info. My 2021 has been problems from the start. When I first got the bike everyone would flash their high beams at night even though mine was on low. I tried to lower the headlamp but could not due to a bracket stopping the headlamp from lowering. After removing the headlamp and grinding the protruding metal, I was finally able to adjust the light downward. At 1,300km the speedometer started rattling, and I discovered that all the screws within were breaking off due to poor quality plastic. It was fixed under warranty and then as soon as it expired the problem returned again. So at 9,000km I opened up the speedometer and glued the boards in place with silicon glue. No more screws to break off. Then the constant stalling in city traffic was frightening, the dealer said they fixed a pinched hose under the tank and the problem continued. Then the rear suspension around 1,500km started squeaking at the swing arm bolt and the dealer greased it. Then the rear brake started releasing during city emergency hard braking. Under a hard braking, it feels like something physically breaks, you feel a strange grinding sound as you lose the brakes. The front brake also has an intermittent problem, sometimes when you go to apply the front brakes, the lever is stiff. In other words you have to squeeze super hard and then the lever breaks loose and the brakes begin working again. You need to apply both brakes because you never know which one will fail. Today I had failures on both front and rear brakes at different times. The bike at 9,000 km suddenly started making a sharp rattling noise going over small bumps in the road. This is the first street bike I ever owned in 50 years of riding that had the steering bearings go bad under 160km. And of course my wife and I hate the seats, painful at anything over 20 minutes in the saddle. But, with all that, the bike has charm. I am just not sure what to do when the glue no longer holds the speedometer together.

I find the headlight fine, but agree. The headlight aim is the issue. I found with mine, even on low beam it was aiming at the trees. I was able to adjust it but I will eventually replace the unit for a full LED one. I agree, the stock bars are cheese. The side stand is extremely untrustworthy. I mostly use the centre stand. I kept the lower front mudguard but have fitted the riser bushes to increase the tyre clearance.

Preventive measure is the key - true story! Half an hour well spent! Thankyou Ben! I have the BS4 as well and one thing that kind of pinches my heart is when I see the "fit" of the side panels. The airintake side, the panel is "open" from the top and the battery side as well it's "open" from the top. My ABS module near the battery is rusted though I had got it changed a year ago. But, yeah, it's just sad to see those fits tp look like that for such a beautiful motorcycle.

Hello Ben I just found your channel and I am going to watch all of your videos. I plan to buy a Himalayan this spring. Where I live in Indiana in the USA there are few Enfield dealers and they don't carry many spare parts. The lack of spare parts does concern me, I wish someone would make a list of recommended spare parts. I plan to get a new 2022 Himalayan I don't plan to do much off road riding it will be mostly paved or gravel roads out in the country exploring small towns and taking photos of the past. I will start watching all of your videos tonight to gain as much information as I can before I buy my bike. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. Bob

great video, as always....a lot of vloggers that started out saying they "wouldn't change a thing".....are doing the exact changes you have done.....after having mine since November, I am noticing a lot of these issues pop up as well.....and have had the necessary parts on hand for a few months now...now that I am due for the initial valve adjustment, I can take care of all the up front additions...the plug, boot and wire upgrade, LED fog lamps, LED headlight, USB hub, and the EVAP delete.....

Hey Ben, Thanks for the content, it's very useful especially here in Brazil, where we don't have many knowledge about RE motorcycles. Tried to delete my EVAP system yesterday, using your video as a guide (alternative method), but after I finished the job and started the engine, it ran for a couple seconds and stalled as I accelerated a little. After this, the bike wouldn't start, sounded like it was flooded. Reversed everything and it's working fine. Any idea what I could have done wrong?
