0:40 - What a thrilling morning line up there was in 1986. With schools off, Thames and the other ITV companies had to fill two and a half hours with cheap programming, family friendly. Better than what BBC 1 were offering in July 1986 - after BBC Breakfast Time there was wall to wall coverage of the Commonwealth Games from Edinburgh, News and that was your lot on BBC 1.
How beautiful was summer morning tv. Variety as well day by day too before infected by This Morning and Loose Women. I wasn't a fan of The World of Survived but the theme brings back great memories
Exactly a week after the Royal Wedding - Andy and Fergie, for it was them, not Chas and Di (not Dave) five years previously. No Sesame Street - you can tell that Channel 4 was to have it over a year later. This time next year the morning output was to be networked in preparation of ITV's daytime schedule and Schools programmes going to Channel 4. 3:54 I just love that Survival theme tune and opening titles. Pity we don't have all of it on here. Just noticed that it was published on here 29 years to the day as well.
The ITV Daytime schedule changes were being phased in over 3 years it started in Autumn 1983 with the Party Conference coverage moving to Channel 4 then in March 1984 with the midweek afternoon sports coverage (Racing and Snooker) going to Channel 4 ITV then the morning changes began in April 1986 with the morning regional news updates just before schools and a 5 minute bulletin in the middle of the schools programmes at 10:55am most of this Summer 1986 schedule was networked though the weekday daytime sports coverage on ITV later on in August 1986 was regional coverage on Granada of Crown Green Bowls and Roses Cricket and networked coverage of the European Athletics Championships in Stuttgart
