This is a 30 minute guided meditation focusing on using the breath and sounds of the ocean to promote a state of deep relaxation and naturally guide you into a still, clear, calm headspace.

Posture: you can do this meditation sitting or lying down...
Sitting on the floor:
Sit with your legs crossed either with your back unsupported or supported against a wall with a cushion in the small of your back. Sit on a meditation cushion (or a couple of pillows) so that your knees are lower than your hips (this helps keep your back upright and hips at the right angle). Rest your hands wherever they feel most comfortable on your knees, thighs or in your lap.
Sitting on a chair:
Sit with your legs at least shoulder width apart with the soles of your feet flat against the floor (or with your legs crossed meditation style if the seat is big enough and you're comfortable). Sit with your back unsupported or supported by the back of the chair with a cushion in the small of your back. Rest your hands wherever they feel most comfortable on your knees, thighs or in your lap.
Lying down:
Lie on your back. If you have any trouble with your lower back try placing a pillow beneath your knees, or lie with your knees bent towards the ceiling and the soles of your feet flat on the surface you're lying on. Rest your hands palm up or down by your sides, or resting lightly on your lower stomach.
Is it better to sit or lie down? - This depends on how you're best able to find a balance between being comfortable and alert. Meditation is a state of both relaxation and focussed attention, so find a position that you will be as comfortable as possible in as well as being able to focus on your breathing without falling asleep (unless you want to of course!).

I deal with multiple mental illnesses in myself. I discovered this video 15 days ago and have watched it as part of my morning routine almost every single day since so I can start the day calmer than I used to. That's been very helpful to gain inner peace. My mental illnesses came from military service... I think you have easily the best videos on the USA servers of RU-vid for meditation videos.... Your videos reduce my paranoia issues by calming me down so I can function with better mental clarity.

@@carolinemccready I'm surprised i do not have PTSD from my time in the military. I consider mental illness to a side effect of military service. I do not have the mental illness I thought I would get in the military but I am comfortable in my veterans retirement. It was fun to serve.

This is so relaxing. If I’m having back or knee pain I will use the quiet time to visualise the words “back pain” (or whatever is relevant) written on the beach & as I breathe in & out the tide gradually erases the words. I find it calming & soothing. Thanks.

🍂Hello, i love this meditation its been six months meditating, i was able to quit every social media and every other bad habits completely,and also this lead me sleep better and quickly,this improved my life a lot, and it lead me to find real happiness ,im hoping to do this meditation forever, i hope after 50 or 60 years later i would be thanking to my self because i did this meditation now 🧡🍁

@@carolinemccready Hi Caroline :-) i have all your albums now from your website.....so great to have. Thought i would add an idea or two from my experiences so far, knowing you are possibly making some more meditations. as per the discussion above.... So I struggle more often than not, to make breathing to a specific count (unless i am already relaxed enough to slow my pace) so i really like the "no rules " kind of approach and going with my bodies natural pace, in the moment, and then being able to bring my pace down gently whilst my breathing deepens. My favorite by far has been the twenty minute one, as there is no pressure to find a certain pace. In this meditation i like being talked into breathing into stillness and then having some gentle music to go with unguided once i am settled. Its always nice to end by being brought back and telling myself thankyou! As sometimes i turn to meditation as relief in stressful times, and we do deserve to thank ourselves for all our daily efforts. So the end comments always make me feel good. I was thinking to myself, if i had a meditation with a guide at the beginning that is similar to the twenty minute breathing into stillness.....and then go unguided for around 45 minutes, it could become the perfect siesta :-) I don't think i would fall asleep, but i think it is around the same time length as a suggested afternoon nap?, without going to deeply asleep? you may know more about this than I........ I'm really just thinking this out as i write, i havent done all of the meditations that i purchased yet either.........maybe this helps with your future efforts. This is by far my favorite meditation. I have listened to it every day for about a month. I can't pinpoint exactly why this one works so well for me. I think the music sounds with the ocean waves might be part of it. I am wondering if you use this same music and wave sounds on any other videos of longer duration. I only ask because there are times when coming to the end; I'm wishing there were ten or fifteen minutes more. Btw I listen to many of your meditations and I love them all. Thanks

I haven't used the music on any longer meditations, but I'm going to be making some longer versions of existing meditations and I'll add this one to the list for a 45 min version. I'll also be making more meditations with ocean waves. It might take a little while as I have some videos to get out first, but will definitely get it up. Hello @LalaCat D, I've been working on making version of this meditation with extended music. My original plan was to just extend the music but then thought it would make a nice sleep meditation, when I went to 'tweak' the music and vocal slightly it took on a bit of a life of its own and has changed more than planned! That definitely sounds jarring! None of the videos on the channel have ads in the middle or the end, so it’s likely that the ad you got was at the beginning of the next video… To avoid that happening make sure autoplay is set to ‘off’… If you’re watching a video from a playlist click ‘share’, paste the link in your browser and watch from that link. Unfortunately playlists on RU-vid override your autoplay settings and automatically play the next video in a playlist, but by clicking ‘share’ and watching from that link this plays the video separately from any playlist… and as long as autoplay is switched off the end of your meditation will be ad free.
