I need a different option for flounder audition for a 13 year old girl. She just played Nemo in finding Nemo Junior about six months ago, so nothing from that is an option for her audition. Lots of the other kids will pick from Suessical to audition for the role with so an obscure song with the same vibe as big blue world would be great
I'm a huge fan of Jane Eyre the musical and love the song you mentioned for S! I actually performed in it at university when I was in undergrad getting my degree in musical theatre. It's such a gorgeous show and never really done. I'm not sure why honestly. Thanks for sharing all of these song ideas, they really sparked my creativity!
Super late but I have one for V. Very Soft Shoes from Once Upon a Mattress. Not sure if it’s super obscure but it’s a fun catchy song that can be sung by any gender.
Lucy! I need your help I’m auditioning for a community theater play and when I sing me a song it’s a little bit awkward because I don’t know what to do with my hands and how stand. so if you can make a video and help me with that that would be so helpful
Totally feel you on this one and you are not alone when it comes to knowing what to do with your hands or how to stand. What always helps me is to work on the lyrics as a monologue first. That way the music and singing doesn't get in the way and you can focus on the intentions of the character and what they are expressing or wanting in that moment free from meter, pitch or rhythm. Then add the music back in. Hope this helps!
Im auditioning for Rodger and Hammersteins Cinderella and I'm not sure what song to sing, I'm leaning between shy, happily ever after, or a change in me but im not sure if those are overdone
Hope your audition went well! My honesty opinion is always go with a song that is somewhat in the style of the show but (most importantly) that you love singing it and feel very confident with the song. That's the most important part is to just show casting your talent and skills from an authentic perspective.
For altos looking for obscure songs I’d recommend anything from City of Angles (You Can Always Count On Me, It Needs Work, Lost and Found), Me and Ricky or Julie’s Song from the Theory of Relativity, Everybody’s Girl from Steel Pier, Kiss of the Spider Woman from Kiss of the Spider Woman (that may not count as obscure), Meadowlark from the Baker’s Wife, Lion Tamer from the Magic Show, and He’s My Boy (if you’re old enough) from Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. For Sopranos I’d add Moonfall or Rosa’s Confession from the Mystery of Edwin Drood and Promise Me This from the Theory of Relativity.
I know this song probably isn’t obscure, but I want to sing Dead Girl Walking from Heathers for my musical theatre major at a performing arts school. Do you think this is a good idea?
@@ameliaarnette62 HI. I did not sing Dead Girl Walking I actually sang the first 60 seconds of Apex Predator from Means Girls for my audition and I did get accepted!
