I've been around people who suffer from depression all my life (Please don't think I surround myself with mentally ill people.) Unless it's extreme depression that doesn't go away, I view it as a normal part of life. Don't be afraid to get help. I don't even view it as mental illness anymore. It's far too common. It's a part of life. Everyone needs help every now and then.

Im a couselor....and its more than 30%. Its higher in bigger cities. and of course drug abuse is not considered a mental illness....but it should be.

After dating about 60-90 gals over 30+ years, from my perspective, 90% of females were steeped in BPD, NPD, OCD, Depression, Anxiety, and all sorts of destructive (and SELF-destructive) ailments. I can't remember ANY gal I dated who was fairly chill, emotionally stable, reasonable, logical, and non-vindictive. I wish it was otherwise, but I took a lot of notes on and of my experiences, and it was pretty shocking and disappointing. 😕 I felt bad for many and often tried to support them, but in the end, projection of their previous baggage was almost always how everything devolved. Quite unfortunate!
