Before going to bed I turn a portable fan on. The noise masks tinnitus. It's cheap and efficient. I can't sleep with music playing or the tv on, so the fan works great.

You guys are both right and it's so helpful to hear you validate it. I have loud tinnitus still but very seldom compared to when I 1st learned about habituating. I have the trifecta of tinnitus. Arthritis in my neck, way too many rock concerts since the 70s, & I have anxiety through the roof.. I had fungus and I'm treating that with otc tinactin. Im managing my individual issues. I use mindful meditation, masking, medicine.

Most doctors whatever practice, don't have the patience to try several methods to diagnose or treat a patient. Some even show irritation if they can't properly diagnose your condition or if you're not improving. I guess the reason for this is they lack the latest research or studies. They also either about money only or simply lack the patience to deal with difficult cases.

My tinnitus was static during his first 2 years, just spreaded to my other ear, last 6 months during this the third year of it, it's growing and already doubled its already really loud sound, do im condemned to have it louder and louder untill the last day of my life? Or is there any chance of it just to remain at it is now? Thank you from the bottom of this hell we are living.

I worked at UCSF while I was living in the "City". A great place. I would like to see audiolgists like you at the VA. Most I ever got was that is just have to live with it and it is getting worse to the point of bothering my sleep and any time I want to be in a silent place - it isn't silent for me. And people, who don't have tinnitus, don't understand how bothersome and how covering hearing it can be. I cannot hear high pitch sounds. Haven't been able to since my 20's.

All great but in US sessions with quality audiologists and needed therapy are not covered by insurance (other than hearing test).No Medicare or Medicaid coverage for anything .Most oder patients need to cough up at least several hundred for a basic amplifier never mind a decent second rate hearing aids.Some fine Tinnitus doctors charge $700 per hour (2hour minimum) to even talk to you .Good luck.If you live in Europe in a normal country it is usually covered .All you have are apps,vitamins,few prescriptions from ENT or Dr. If lucky .Need to save $3000 for a basic Phonak.Vicious system in America.Nobody understands nor cares.Hope you don't go nuts until you habituate somewhat.Othetwise..great research and great videos .Keep the hope going.

Doctor Ben, Is it true that in patients who have tinnitus the hair cells in the cochlea for some reason have died and is it irreversible? Thank you from Portugal
@treblehealth
@treblehealth 2 года назад
Damaged hair cells within the cochlea contribute to hearing loss and are not currently reversible. People with tinnitus often have hearing loss. There are also people with normal hearing and tinnitus; these people likely have micro-changes to the hair cells.
