I'll explain the thumbnail here for all the people who missed the joke/sarcasm. I wrote "I should have bought a Toyota" because when I posted the photo on social media and I got dozens of messages and comments telling me I should I have bought or Toyota or I should have bought a land cruiser. Every time anything goes wrong with the patrol or nav, doesn't matter if it literally has nothing to do with the 4wd eg a tyre off the rim or when I got water in the fuel in Cape York I'll just get smashed with all the hard core Toyota fans telling me how this never would of happened if I had a Toyota. It's hilarious for me and embarrassing for them. So I made a joke on social media I'll just make the thumbnail of this video "should have bought a Toyota" then it will save everyone telling me and all the Toyota fans will come running from everywhere to see the video to try give me more grief about how bad Nissan's are. And for people who get upset about titles and thumbnails, you need to find something more important in life to get annoyed about. "300 metres in 7 hours!" is not clickbait, that's simply what happened and I did get stuck and multiple things went wrong so I don't see how any of this is "omg dramatic clickbait". Titles and thumbnails make an absolutely massive difference to how many clicks and views a video get so of course I'm going to pick the most interesting and exciting title I can in regards to the video. Thats just how RU-vid works, much less people will click on a 'boring' title and thumbnail. I do RU-vid full time now, so I need views if I want to be successful and continue doing this full time. Everyone relax and just enjoy the video, I thought this was a pretty entertaining one :)

Hey mate, been a fan of your show since the beginning. I reckon you don't need to keep doing bigger, badder, more gnarly tracks to make your channel amazing. That is kinda what the 4WD action guys do. With them, each video has to be more extreme, more near accidents/vehicle damage. It's their brand. However, just watching you and your family tour, drive and camp is very entertaining because it's what I want to be doing. Environmentally respectful, challenging but accessible, cool 4WD camping. Just a thought for you ;)

Hey mate, unfortunately I can't please everyone every week, some people like hard tracks with some challenges, some people like easy touring. I just continue doing what I love doing and have always done :) out there having a great time with my son and making the most of life. If you look back through my videos its always been a mix of hard tracks with some challenges along the way and some family touring stuff, good to mix it up you know, people got bored of the same thing every week including myself. Also, I just did a whole four part series of touring the VHC, I can't challenge myself to some hard tracks here and there? 😁 Lastly another little point to note, 4wd 24/7 are extremely successfully for a reason (A LOT of people enjoy the challenging tracks and some things going), the same reason this video has been the most successful for me (in regards to views and watch time) out of the last 15ish videos I've done. I do this because I love doing it but I also have to consider the fact this is my business and full time income, if you ran a business wouldn't you want to do what is going to be the most successful for the business?

@@TylerThompson90 you've always done some gnarly tracks mixed up with some relaxed touring. I don't think popping a bead too extreme and definitely not a staged event for effect like the 24/7 boys do. They're out to bust stuff for effect and it does have its appeal in a way. I envy your confidence to go harder tracks that I wouldn't try by myself and it is inspiring to watch. Keep doing you tylzz 👌👍😎 PS I wonder if the nav would've made it up that hill? Oh and came across this one about beadlocks tho you're probably up to speed on them by now 🤪 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oL2gloypD6E.html

I have to say that in addition to having fun and quality time with your son, your also teaching him so many great lessons. Showing him that if you don’t know how to do something or how something works that’s ok and you can learn and stay humble. That if you attempt something and fail, that you don’t give up but keep trying new ways to achieve the goal. Each video you put out shows you being honest and transparent, not pretending to know things you don’t and not pretending to be someone your not, this is super refreshing given the society we live in currently. Keep doing you and keep showing your boy real lessons filled with fun.

Love the content, I’m shock at how you stay so calm. I’d have been mad as hell. I’ve had a very similar thing happen to me, except the tire was cut by a sharp rock out of no where and I didn’t have a proper off road Jack either and really struggled. I think you did really well under pressure as always. That tire shop should be pretty embarrassed but I’m glad they tried to make it right. Cheers

Hey Tyler, just to let you know there is no such thing as a adr compliant beadlock rim. That is why these rims have the tires fitted the way that they are, just like a normal steel rim. You could refit the tires so the beadlock does hold the bead to the rim, but you could only use them for competition/racing. If using them on the any road sealed or dirt, any cop driving by could pull you over and defect your car. Worst still if you get into an accident solo or with other vehicles with your rims fitted up as a true beadlock your car insurance company can/will block your claim and leave you to pay for all damages even if you are not at fault. Now as to why there are no adr compliant beadlock rims in Australia I can only find 2 reasons. Reason 1 tires are made/designed to seal to the rim on the outside edge of the tire bead using the air pressure to hold the rubber tight to the rim. With a beadlock the seal is on the inside edge of the tire bead, with the air pressure pushing the rubber/beadlock ring away from the rim. Reason 2 The bolts, can be damaged, can break and can loosen and fall out. Say you are doing 100km/h down the highway and a beadlock ring breaks/falls off then you tire goes after it, no need to say how shit your day is going to go. And I think there is a 3rd reason that there are nor ever will be adr compliant beadlock rims in Australia is the cost to any company selling rims here to design, engineer and have the rims tested to comply with Australian Design Rules would put the rims into the $1000s to make any money in Australia. On the plus side with the rims you have if the tires are fitted like a normal steel rim the bolt on ring can stop some damage from rocks smashing and bending the steel rim were the tire bead is. Sorry about the great wall of text. Edited because there is always an exception, Humvee rims have an internal rubber band used to lock both beads. RU-vid will not let me post link to youtube video, copy the line below to see how that works. How To Mount Military Surplus 16.5" 2-Piece HMMWV Rims (12-Bolt or 24-Bolt) - RU-vid

What about those Second Air internal beadlocks? Are they legal and/or effective?
@BrianConroy1
@BrianConroy1 2 года назад
@@tonymeredith6969 If you have to drill a hole for a second valve stem then the rim will no long be adr compliant. You need to find rims that have 2 holes and have the adr compliance. Sorry I don't know if there is any one that makes those.

This. Plus, if you look at the inside of the rim of many tyres, they have moulding ridges an inch or so apart. These have to be squashed against the outside of the rim by the ring, so can cause air leaking because they are not dead smooth like the normal tyre sealing edge. I also felt the ring that he took off seemed pretty flimsy - I wouldn't trust that at highway speeds.

Hey buddy, click bait or no click bait - misleading or not title, I don’t give a rats backside !!! I still watch every one of your videos ( many several times over ) because I’ve come to learn : you put a lot of effort into your trip planning, your execution of tracks is spot on and you bring great quality work showcasing what a good 4 wheel drive can do off road. Many of us may not have the latest greatest vehicles nor all the mods needed to do some of the tracks you do however I feel like I have because you’re taking us along for the ride. So don’t worry about the haters out there, they’ll hate because of the green eyed monster - jealousy. You keep doing what you’re doing mate, your fans will continue watching, enjoying and supporting your work and your channel. That’s not an arse kiss either, that’s from someone who sincerely appreciates all the time and effort you put in. It’s your legitimate full time business now and like many other businesses, sometimes people forget just how much work, effort and hours goes into the behind the scenes stuff. Clean the bead mate, welding gloves, deodorant spray and bbq lighter to light. we did it 5 times with 35,s on 1000 dollar track. We found 18" tyres came off heaps where 16's and 17's on other cars did not come off. Cheers

Love the vids mate. Did you consider using your recovery boards more often? It looks like the 4 on your roof would be easier than packing rocks and spinning wheels? Reckon it’s also good education/content for others that carry boards. Cheers man! 👍🏼🇦🇺

Thanks mate! I replied to someone else so ill copy it over to here Just not really situations where they would help that much, clearance and bellying out was the bigger issue on the rock step, if I had of put the recovery boards down they just would of gone flying as soon as the wheels touched them. And then with the section leaning into the bank you'd need like 30 of them, 4 would make very little difference as I needed height, not traction, so it was quicker and easier to fill with logs and rocks. That was my thoughts anyway haha

Not sure if it would have helped in this situation, but sometimes driving close to a bank is a more effective way to keep you from getting body damage. Assuming that it keeps the vehicle more upright... Being a big Toyota fan, the first thumbnail didn't bother me at all. Everyone that has a lot of experience 4wdriving will know certain Patrols are the best 4wd you can get for all-round hardcore off roading. I'd still never buy one haha. Thanks for all there effort on the videos. Great entertainment!

Sell the beadlocks and get a set of wheels that are just normal. Ran twin locked Gu 4.8,6" lift on 37s not beadlocked for many many years on hard tracks. 10psi on beach, 15-20 in rocks/hill, never popped a bead or had a puncture. I'd never have beadlocks on a daily

Really need to question is it worth getting beadlocks, due to not being legal for road use... Only good for comps etc! Feel for you having to spend all that time, frustrated etc on the track trying to figure out the headlock situ. Anyway as usual great filming/editing. .

Dude, so hectic!, awesome and normal from you. Personally, I would have pulled the winch earlier. Get that you have to make content, but damn, that is a HARD call. Really enjoy your self pressure to make it! ps. Getting bead-locks is in the NAME and they have to LOCK!. That was painful ;)

G’day Tyler, we love what you are doing and therefor watch your vids.! Good vid and some very good commences from the Audience too. As an outsider with much less 4WD experience in OZ and with an Patreon account I was waiting for your vid on YT and of course to see the first 100 commences as always. Yes, I take the time to read them, because still in dry learning phase condemn in home office. Interesting to see that you still jump in the TOYOTA vs. NISSAN thing.. I am laughing my a… off on it.!! Why just don’t give it a flick…. To reply on such thing does not contribute to your contend. We all know nobody is perfect and shit happen sometimes even to the very experienced. Sample for criticism : why you did not stay next to the dude who assembled your new tires to the headlock rims look what he is doing and how he did it “wrong” you could have asked your questions and with a bit off experience detected it befor it went wrong fitted. Very much respect for your solo driving without an well experienced spotter and guidance, sure things not always go right while sitting in the driver seat and having limited overall view. I would have done worse and the “think before you act” in some situations like that at the stage not always functioning. So, no tip from my side except your recovery gear looks to me incomplete. High lift stands and exhaust jack for such solo trips I would put under the seats. Keep the sunny 😎 side up. Cheers

Cheers mate! The Toyota vs Nissan thing is simply to have a laugh and give little back to them and it also great marketing for my content, gets more people involved. This video has gone really well and the way I've marketed it and titled it is the main reason I believe. Im not sitting here 'crying in the corner' about the situation, just having a laugh. And with the regards to the bead locks when a tyre shop tells me very clearly they know how to do it its not my responsibility to stand there watch them and tell them how to do their job, you assume it would be a case of 'trust the professionals' but obviously not. Im not here to start a war with them (hence why I never mentioned their names) or make out like my life is ruined, just made for an eventful day when I was out filming.

@@TylerThompson90 last commence on the “trust the professionals” May that is my personal thing! I am a professional with 50 years experience. Do I trust other professionals? Yes, but they have to proof it to me! How? My own way! If they don’t want me let in their workshop to see how they carry out repair and installation jobs, I walk… My virgin LC200 was modified 2019 in MEL 95% from remote 9,000 km distance. ( clear Job description and parts list from me) Yes, a full kit out and all went very well. The first 4WD workshop I visited could not even read and interpret my job and parts wish list, leave alone to make and provide a detailed quote in excel. I spend 2 hours there with explanations and looking into their workshop, they could not convince me and believe me 12 month later the business was dead and gone.. The next door 4WD shop owner was the total opposite and after 30min. talk it was settled. 100% satisfied with all jobs given to them. So, “do I trust the professionals” YES… But I select them and judge for my self. Have a nice Sunday. Cheers
