Very nice David, a great presentation. I'd have liked the speeded up sections in real time. Unfortunately slowing it down to quarter speed on YT makes for very poor viewing. A Grand Day Out as Wallace and Gromit would say.

I could upload the full clips at regular speed but it’s all wind noise and a bit shakey

Dear David Bello. 👍👌👏 Uhm... yeah, nice drive But I would definitely neither fit in that little convertible (190cm tall with really wide shoulders) nor be able to "handle" the foot- pedals (feet size 46,5 and really, really wide). I guess that the old gentleman enjoyed the much more comfortable ride in his 6cyl 164 automatic very much.. By the way: I can hardly wait to watch the next video with Ivy, the green goddess. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you.

Yeah it’s cramped but I somehow managed. I have wide feet too but it’s the shoe that was worse than the actual pedal spacing. The 164 keeps proving itself! Thanks for watching along 🥳 as always

Dear @@DavidBello Thanks for replying and especially for another heart. I thought that you maybe had used some clear vaseline to slide in the small car/bucket seat!? ;-) 2) What??? I saw your shoes, you don't have wide feet. At least not in comparison to mine (when I was younger, firefighters used to call me for putting out steppe/grass fires! ;-) Sincerely yours.

You are indeed a privileged person to spend quality time with such a beautiful and rare car. The fact that it was borrowed is amazing. Good for you.

Volvo- the inventor of the 3 point belt. The P1900 no seat belts Lol!
@DavidBello
@DavidBello 3 года назад
As I remember the story, they adapted the Air Force 3 or 5 point seat belts and created the 3 point harness in 1959 which would be just 3 years after this little fibreglass limited production car

Thoroughly engrossing David, first detailed piece I've seen. What a fabulous car, chrome round the windscreen, rear quarter windows a triumph, love the sailing heritage logo, sounds great, crazy gear stick. What a privilege getting to drive such a wonderful rare car. Would love to see one in the flesh, not sure if there are any in the UK, would love to photograph my P1800S '68 next to it. Thanks for posting going to watch the history link next 👍

I guess I just have to cross that off my list because of my 11.5 4e stompers. Thank you for the vid.

yep, those are Jag XJ pedals. Speaking of Jaguars, on my uncle's '86 XJS with the infamous V12 it has the parking brake on the left side of the drivers seat and when you have it pulled up the handle will actually drop down to allow driver access in/out of the car. LOL I heard a story from his mother who bought the car new in 1986 and then she later gave it to him. But when she bought it new I guess one of their workmen backed it out of the driveway and then he set the parking brake and since it's an automatic I guess she never thought twice about using it so a bunch of people struggling with it for a long time trying to figure it out. Then somebody looked it up in the owners manual, and to release it you have to pull the lever back up into position in order to be able to release it. IMO that would've been a much better design on this car, or perhaps they could've relocated it to where the 5 speed shifter would've been that you mentioned.

This is fantastic! Great cars and a very nice video again. I kind of recognise the engine sound of the P1900 from my own 1953 PV 444. Same B4b engine of course. Seeing this vid almost make me think that it would be worth the money and the effort to ship my car over to you in California and fly there myself, just to criuse with you for a couple of hours. Greetings from Sweden. //Peter

David what is your impression, driving the P1900, not everytime you get to drive a P1900 while Dave is driving a 164, I wonder what other model Volvo have you had the pleasure of driving, the 444, 544 , or the duett.
@DavidBello
@DavidBello 3 года назад
It needs some changes in the rear axle bracing and geometry and I was real nervous on those turns but it never felt like it would spin, flip or forget how to brake. Just noisy, mainly. I would go to a quieter exhaust over the sport setup and add lap belts at the least. I would like to experience a 444/544 very much
