Every time I watch these very "information packed" videos I WISH that you would provide more videos of what you are talking about. I spend all my time trying to visualize what you did. Did I guess correctly? I never can tell without a lot more work. MORE VIDEO coordinated with less and more focused talk would really be an improvement. Tell us what you are doing as you do it on camera. I love your shop...I have the same equipment - learning to use. Nice video. The 300 prc is really catching on. Originally a 30-375 Ruger. What's cool about the 300 prc is u can use that ammo in a 30 Sherman mag. I got one getting made from Gray Sloan from swift Creek rifles. Batt action. Bartline barrel. 1.35 at shank. 1.25 at the end 30 inches long. Manners stock. Love your videos. Great builds.

Great info!! Great job showing where you have hiccups and how to recover. Not everything goes perfect. Should be some great comparisons between the two rifles. Gavin, I know there is a lot of folks that will thumb there nose at a 1/2" rifle and talk about how their guns will shoot in the .2"s or even .1"s but if the truth be known it is very difficult to shoot tight groups with a heavy recoil, sporter style stock. I prefer five shot groups to tell the story of consistency but with factory ammo and the style rifle, I would say that rifle is going to shine with handlaods and good (learned) bench technique.

I love the builds! It would be interesting to do an actual budget build, maybe get a used 700 or win 70 action and buy a very budget oriented barrel ($150-250 or even a low round count takeoff barrel for sale on forums) and attempt to put something together for under 'x' amount of money and compare the accuracy of quality components to budget components given the same time, care, and precision involved? Would be interesting to see, for me anyway. Keep up the good work!

Gavin, Have loved your videos from the outset as your are down to earth. I have a greater appreciation for the cost the gunsmiths charge for their work. I like this build but because I am recoil "shy" I would not consider a caliber of this nature. If you ever get the chance in the future to build a 16-17ib "Fly" rifle in say a 260AI I think that would be an interesting build and load development exercise. Have a great day from Australia.

I've thought about having my 7mm rem mag re barreled to a 300 PRC. In my testing the bipod is definitely the weakest link. It may be worth doing some testing/measuring on your end before writing off all bipods (hint Harris is the problem) square your rifle to the wall and measure the offset of the legs. Always bump the legs out one notch to make sure your not riding on the springs. Grab an atlas, why sit your $2000 rifle on a $79 bipod. I get the budget idea but there are some places not to skimp.

First off thank you for providing so much epic content! I have a request.. can you somehow measure if your receiver in this 300prc build “RR” prefix rem 700 action is symmetrical at the rear scope base? I have heard that the newer actions need the rear portion of the scope base bedded. I also have done this on 4 actions to check. Place new never mounted steel base place it on action tighten front base screws finger tight. Now some will have a gap under the rear right side of the base as well as the entire rear section of the base is floating. The worst one I saw was the RR prefix I tried this on a C pre fix much older and it was rock solid. Also maybe I read the other comments and people don’t are up in arms about it being to expensive I have purchased everything to do this procedure from brownells for under $2000 I have 6 rem 700’s none of which have cost me over $400 buy a remage barrel $300-$700 and last time I checked a custom rifle that’s going to shoot that good will cost you $1500+ optics are opinions and don’t count in cost of rifle.

To be clear- i enjoy the content- that said, the direction your channel has taken does not jive with the title "ultimate reloader" . maybe "a guide through basment manufacturing". I first started watching as i got into making ammo, not building firearms. I found you through some articles and you were one of my first tube subscriptions. (You and JRB, but he has gone dormant)This was a couple years ago. Personally, the equipment in your shop costs more than my house. Although it is cool to see you build these rifles, a "budget" build should be, to me, something sub 1k (optics included) with no need of gunsmithing. If your saving money by using tools that 99.9% of your viewers cannot afford than it defeats the purpose. That said, it is cool, i do enjoy it, I will continue to watch, and who knows, maybe ill win the lotto and be able to get me some of those machines.

Ultra Mag ditches the belt, and is all about max velocity for standard long-action rifles. With powder charges up to about 100 grains, it's the kind of standard 30 cal magnums. 300 Win Mag is more of a staple/common 30 cal magnum with less recoil, less heating of the barrel, and longer corresponding barrel life (I presume).

@Reel-Lentless The key thing with 300 PRC (like 6.5 Creedmoor, etc) is that the entire cartridge is optimized for today's longer high-BC bullets.

total cost over 25K easy people depending on where and who does it, so in AU its would be around the 15K plus cost of good Extreme long long-range scope so add 5K so around 20K to 30K depending on which caliber, so a .338 or 300nm would be around that or you could buy a mk22 and get it blueprinted and then you will have a totally pro f class shooting platform for sure? 🙌🙌👍👍👌👌✌✌🦘🦘
