If I ever get a vr4, I’m bringing it here. These guys know what they’re doing. I have a turbo eclipse that misfires, I believe it’s leaning out, but the car is bone stock except for intercooler piping only which I am not sure has an effect on the AFR since it’s only the pipes replaced with wider metal pipes.

Hey Des, On a brand new build it's recommend I break in the motor following a accel and decel procedure that takes about 2 hours and an oil change. Can this be done at your shop or do you do a base tune first and the driver breaks it in?
Tbh the 6g72tt is a more engineered engine than the 4g63, the 4g63 just had safety margin in all the right places and "lucked" into being the better engine more or less. You can tell when disassembling the two that a lot of effort was put into making the 6g72 more light weight and optimized and to be fair, these engines weren't designed with the intention of people pushing 1000 hp through them. A good example of this is the 4g uses all the same size bolts for the camshaft caps while the 6g downsizes the inner cam cap bolts to save weight. Stuff like that is what leads to those engines lifting heads above about 800 hp, with the fix being adding stiffness back into the head so it doesn't flex under high combustion chamber pressure. TLDR: the 6g72 engineers were more aggressive and the 4g63 is better for what most of us want to do with it, which is make a bajillion hp with it.
