Hello, i have problem with the same power supply. When is starter 12v, then voltage drop about 15 sec to zero and then need to remowe cable and put back-start 12v and voltage drop, what can be a defective here. Thanks

yes. to increase a converter efficiency (because when dc rail voltage decrease that time the PWM IC have to switch more and more by extending its duty cycle to the maximum limits, so that its efficiency will decrease) the PFC is used. it maintains the dc voltage at specific value, for example if we connect this PSU to 110 volt, that time the voltage at bulk capacitor will 140 VDC but when we will turn it ON, immediately the DC rail voltage will boost to 410 VDC. so that the main power supply will work perfectly without loosing its efficiency

@@HaseebElectronics I am guessing PWM is voltage monitored and PFC is current monitored ( I.E. what gets dumped on to the negative rail ? ) why so much complexity in the PFC circuitry when all that is required is comparators around the negative rail , I need to be patient for your following parts in the series.

@@keithcitizen4855 actually both work as SMPS working principle. Just PFC is identical to a buck converter or a boost converter. it is to maintain a specified voltage on the DC rail. i will explain it in very detail you can also check video number 221 on my channel, that is for PFC power supply in LED TV its main roll in any SMPS circuit is to stabilize DC rail voltage to ensure the output efficiency of the converter for example, in this PSU we need 12V16A that is a high amount of power (to drive a power supply at low input range of voltage. the converter efficiency will decrease from 90% to 70%. ) so the PFC circuit will boost the dc voltage to a 410 VDC level, disregarding the input voltage (110 VAC to 240 VAC that means 140 VDCto 340 VDC) in this way the our required power supply will regulated and using this design technique, it decreases the cost and improves the regulation

I have a ps4 CUH-1115A source that doesn't release the 12v. I don't have the voltage of 5VSB at the power supply output either. What part of the circuit and components should I examine?

welcome dear. 1. in first stage you have to check voltage at main dc capacitor (BULK Capacitor). you should find dc voltage (ac input voltage x 1.414). if not present check fuse, bridge rectifier. check video number 304 2. then you have to check standby section 3. then it should operate PFC and then 12 volt section will work at end

@@HaseebElectronics the first step would be to measure the voltage on the capacitor from 100uF/450v (accuses 175v more or less) until everything is ok. I examined the standby stage which I believe is controlled by the integrated Dnp015 , on pins 1 and 2 (gnd and vdd) I get 10v. I have the ADP-240AR scheme which by the scheme would be 24v. The output is missing the 5vsb voltage on pin 4 of the CN121 connector

coil whine problem becomes annoying. it occurs due to looseness or weak binding of core or coil former. it causes noise, excessive heat dissipation and lowers the efficiency and after a time it destroys the coil enameled coating its solution is insulating varnish, dip the coil in varnish and let it dry for 24 hours repeat one or two more coating process
