306 - San Juan, Puerto Rico - “Island as Identity” 

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico until I was 18 that I traveled to New York City. But I kept coming back-and-forth. But what I remember growing up? My grandfather have teaching us of Spain the culture. Dancing. The way I'm the songs. That's what I remember and then later on. I started understanding about tienos. The natural indigenous from Puerto Rico, then I learned. About how Puerto Rico was discovered. But then as years past, I learn english, but not understanding really? What really happened and then later on? I got interesting in learning history. And how they were a descendants from Africa, too and learning later on that. How many people came to Puerto Rico from diffriend nations nations? But I never saw people different. Never even question head but I, but I love Puerto Rico.It's beautiful oh god bless my people and everyone

When videos of Puerto Rico are produced, the area of La Perla, near El Morro is shown. The houses are painted in different attractive colors and it gives the wrong impression that it is a tourist. Nobody says that that beautiful area seen from drones is dangerous for non residents. No tourist should visit it. Our PR archipelago is beautiful, but be aware, many die at the beaches or get stranded in forest areas, rivers. Enjoy, but be save.

Falso que Puerto Rico sea como lo describen personas que no viven aquí. La violencia que mencionas no es así Eso son personas que andan en malos pasos y se eliminan ellos mismos. Yo he vivido toda la vida aquí y nunca he visto nada que ponga en riesgo mi seguridad. En Estados Unidos se ven muchos mas casos y situaciones peligrosas. Que los pueblos tienen maleza es falso. En los pueblos lo que hay es cemento, calles y edificios. La maleza será en las afueras . Visita a los pueblos y verás los hermosos que sin. Y gente indeseable hay en todos sitios. No se puede generalizar. Aseguro que la generosidad del pueblo, su gente, son lo mejor. Cualquiera que quiera saber más, que nos visite, y recorra los hermosos lugares y así podra tener su propia opinión.
