What a superb interviewer -- for a young guy as well - he was respectful and let Crosby speak, and he was not starstruck. I've followed Crosby for 55 years, and that was the best interview. I know David liked it because I've had a few chats with him and know he does not tolerate fools. Well done.
@davidmurray2539
@davidmurray2539 Год назад
The interviewer had a very sketchy knowledge of pop/rock music history. David was able to assume the role of tourist guide to a foreign visitor. He was effusive. The tourist was attentive, and the whole thing could not have worked out any better.
@mindsigh4

@@davidmurray2539 plus, in march 2022, Crosby called Kanye an idiot. prophetic 😁
@davidmurray2539
@davidmurray2539 Год назад
@@mindsigh4 Yes, but for a very smart guy Croz was very capable of the flippant, not very fulsome response. Similar to initial comment on the death of good guy Eddie Van Halen's death to which Croz's response was, I believe, "Meh." He cleaned it up shortly afterwards of course with words of praise, in the wake of much public blowback in defense of the guitar hero. Sure you can call bad guy Kanye names but for a guy who had to have struggled with his own emotional issues over the many years, you'd have thought David could've added something along the lines of Kanye having a plethora of very serious mental issues, evident to many for a number of years now.

Great interview. It was so natural, felt like you were chatting with a friend but with the freshness of someone new coming into his life, which he really appreciated. He didn't want it to end - you were that good. I wish you'd done the interviews for the documentary - it could have been more about the music, his inspirations, the greatness of his songs/songwriting. Round 2?

David, you still inspire me, maybe even more than when I was a young kid. I met you at an airport in MD. I intended to tell you how much your songs inspired me to write words, play music, and express creatively what I felt inside. It was just before you left the Byrds. Maybe not the best moment for some kid to greet you and take your time when you were having a rough tour day. My intentions were good, but it went wrong. Hoping you realize your music never let me down. I still find genuine inspiration and genius in your music. And I'm forever grateful for your lifetime of creative work. Maybe you will yet write the people's anthem.

Crosby always gives a good interview, and I really appreciate how open he is to just having a conversation with someone. He listens to people and honestly answers questions. And, he never big times anyone, which is refreshing to see from someone who has accomplished as much as he has. I think age and the ravages of his previous drug addiction have given him great perspective and humility.

Spot on.Crosby's later years have greatly outweighed his addiction years in terms of personality. I only got into CSN a few years ago.I didn't get them earlier because i have a tunnel,closed musical favour.Also,i couldn't warm to them.I now know it was because i saw they didn't always get on.That was unconscious because i didn't know their history. Either way, they are amazing musically.

Many people in the listening public would like to bring back those lovely times where the musicians go over their hits, for the umpteenth time. Croz can't afford to spend valuable time rehashing the "good old days," and to what end? There's no creativity in playing retread "cover band" of your own old material. There is enough recorded material where someone can find their favorite performances. You heard David -- doing the same old thing with CSN became sheer torture. Three cranky people trying to ignite the old magic night after night "for the fans" is counter-productive. I'm not going to say why Croz and Graham had a very bitter falling-out, but let's just say that the horse has left the barn and isn't coming back. Croz doesn't "owe" the fans anything other than his honesty and artistic integrity.

Nice to see this relaxed chat with very few frills; it is like a conversation many of us might want to have. Sad to again hear that CSN (then Y) became toxic, as they were a great sound for me to grow up with, from the ‘60’s. But that’s life. Drift with the breeze and the currents. Yet hold on to respecting what you achieve and to what other people enjoy from your presence amongst them. R.I.P. David Crosby. And thanks for adding to my life’s soundtrack. 👍😎🇳🇿🎸🌹✨

21:35 I was waiting for this moment as soon as they started talking about harmony bands! I was first introduced to Venice by a concert poster at the Belly Up in Solana Beach, California in 1997. The blurb on the poster said they were one of the best vocal bands around. It was a quote from David Crosby. Pretty high praise coming from Croz, I thought. I went to see them and the first note they sang I was blown away the way Croz talks about in this interview. I often went to concerts where they were the opening act because I wanted to see them more than the headliners.If you ever get the chance, check them out. You won't regret it.
