I understand your reasoning to “ask them to meet up” when they reach out. But it still feels like it’s coming on too strongly. They’re only testing the water with their first couple texts, and they usually keep their true intentions hidden too. So for us to demonstrate such high interest…wouldn’t that be giving them an ego boost/all the power? They’re the dumper, and if they’ve disappeared for months and suddenly pops back up, it should be their job to clarify what it is they’re hoping for.

Hmmm everyone has different opinions on this topic but in my opinion it’s not worth it once you leave especially for bullshit reasons you don’t deserve another chance

It's been a year now, I don't want my ex back and he still has his rebound girl. It took my ex 6 months to take everything out of my unit and acted as if he wasn't over me but I'm stubbornly staying in NC ever since aside from business exchanges which are over now. He got his wish and he's not ready for a relationship so I don't see his rebound lasting anyway. But it's a "New year, no exs (coming to say I miss you)" and "New year, (find a) new boyfriend"

Hey Rory, get well soon!! I don’t really know how to handle my situation. My ex reached out to me (in September) a year after he broke up with me, when he saw that I was moving to Paris for a year. Since then we have been texting quite a lot. But he has this weird way of texting me once a week about some random stuff (most of the time he just reacts to some of my Instagram stories, which he also started to watch again in September). This always leads to a short conversation, that I end because I don’t see the sense in it and then he waits exactly a week to text me again. We even met twice in november, when he was in Paris to visit some other friends and it was really nice. We had some nice talks, everything was light hearted, and we also watched the Eiffel Tower sparkle 🥴 Then he was here over Christmas and he sent me a message saying “I’m back in Paris ;)” so we planned to meet again, but in the end he didn’t “have enough time”. I don’t know if it was just an excuse, but if it was why would he have texted me in the first place? I’m just wondering about his intentions because he’s sending a lot of mixed signals… is he just playing with my feelings? Should I keep responding when he texts me? Thanks for your help x

After four years apart, my ex and I have been playing this game lately where we say really nice things about each other and send each other funny memes (he always starts it), but nothing ever comes of it. He’s even said « we should get a drink » a few times, but that still hasn’t happened. I don’t really care about the outcome anymore, it’s just kind of odd. Hi Rory, firstly, I hope that you're feeling better! I also contracted COVID-19 before christmas and luckily recovered from it. Secondly, I wanted to thank you for getting me out of a very difficult place after the breakup, helped me move on/move past the breakup. I worked on myself, moved country and started a masters. As for this video couldn't have come at a better time as I am actually meeting up with my ex in the next week or so, but do you have any advice? other than to go out and have fun? I am uncertain if I even still like her or how not to make it awkard. I imagine the date going somewhat awkard (especially at the start) and I feel like if I mention too many memories like 'remember that time we did this or we did that' she will think I am overly invested in the whole thing and pull away. I have also managed to not be attached to the outcome and have the mindset of 'lets meet up and see where it goes' In reality, I'm not sure if I want to get back with her and perhaps it's a sign of me moving on and thriving with my life independently or do you think it's the loss of trust between us? She hurt me so much that I feel as though I could never see her the same way as I did when we were deeply in love. But it's as though I can't squash those good times we had (almost as if I have the rose tinted glasses on) and it hurts me to see we can't be like that again..... HELP lol

It’s true, the last couple of months I stopped putting effort to being myself on our dates bc of how miserable I was. I felt like a shell of who I used to be. I should’ve communicated how I was feeling instead of pushing it all under the rug and expecting everything to be okay.

Sorry to hear you have CoVID. What would you say to someone who reached out after 5 or 6 months to the dumper and now isn't getting much communication from them? They suggested getting coffee but have continued to push it off saying that they're busy with work etc... Rory, just recovered from Covid myself. It wasn't particularly fun. I'm unvaccinated and it sounds honestly like you've had a worse time of it than me. Strange to conclude that you'd be in hospital without the vaccine. You're likely just at no more of an advantage for having had it, you're a generally healthy and young guy. Why would you draw such a conclusion? If the vaccine plus booster worked you'd never have gotten it in the first place. Anyway all the best brother and thanks for all your help.
