Those .327's look shockingly similar to what I got in my test medium. I said "15 inches" and had the same one sided expansion/tumbling look to the bullets. Very close to my 5 shot 1,305 FPS average from my LCR. Seems consistent across the board even a couple states away.

I think your Jug-or-Not has been vindicated. Plus, since you are shooting water, you don't have to do a calibration test each time. The only variable that would concern me is the jugs orientation because of the handles. Maybe also how tight the lids are on. Even so, those are probably too small to matter.
@GunSam
@GunSam 4 года назад
@@Fudmottin I try to as much as possible use the same brands of jugs, but sometimes it's not possible. From what I see is that some brands do orient in a way to give +/- about a half inch more or less water thickness in the bottom of the jug. But, this is why I use the term "about" a lot, because a small dent out the back, a large dent or an almost exit is "about" a certain number, and i'll mention a couple of numbers. Now when it wouldn't be consistent is in the winter lol, I have left some filled jugs out there to where the freezing water had them expanded so much the bottoms were round, solid ice! Might be a fun way to shoot them though.

My choice for EDC. Federal HST's though.

I have noticed lately that the Hornady critical defense in the 32 calibers do not perform well, you have to use the federal 32 H&R mags or the Speer Gold dot 327 mag to get good performance out of the snub nose 32's

great ballistics test video sir, i look for all videos in regards to .32 calibers.

I personally have never seen either Hornady Critical Defense or Critical Duty ammo expand very well at all in any caliber. 2 stars at most.

Yeah, I tend to agree. Critical Defense (in every caliber) expands very reliably, and penetrates well in all my testing. But the final bullet diameter just isn't all that exciting to me.

I’ve been really impressed with .32. I wonder if other revolver manufacturers (besides Ruger & Charter Arms) will (again) chamber snub revolvers in a .32 caliber.
@GeographyCzar
@GeographyCzar 3 года назад
I really hope they do. I'm a little put-off by Charter's reputation, and of course I didn't like my Ruger LCRx. I almost traded it for an LCR, but decided to just sell it. I am hoping Taurus or better yet S&W starts making them again. The best would be if S&W brought back the 6-shot i=frame but in 32 H&R or, if they could make an alloy strong enough, 327 Federal! Imagine a gun slightly smaller than a J-frame, but 6 rounds of 32 Mag or 327... man. I'd pay $600 for that, no hesitation.

I was disappointed watching this video. I was hoping to see a cut out, or at least a close up of the gell to see what the 327 did. Also would have loved to see a close up of the shot bullets themselves.

Clearly velocity matters. I wonder if that BB was from calibration of the Gell.
@frankbrowning328
@frankbrowning328 3 года назад
The 32 H&H Critical Defense load is very disappointing. Hornady's flex lock bullet is great one but in this loading it does not appear to have the necessary velocity to properly perform. The load should be designed work in a 1.9'' - 3'' barrel, Hornady please fix this load. If they need to lighten the bullet to provide the speed to reliably expand do so. If they need to increase the frontal area of the nose to provide more resistance and therefore promote expansion make it so.

Couple questions for you. Would you feel safe with the 327 as your side arm in bear country. 2nd do you think 327 is as good or better than a 357 ? a lot of people are saying 327 is as good if not better than a 357 , I'm very curious to what you think. My wife has the lcrx 327 , I have a ruger sp-101 snub 357. But it's a brick to carry. So I'm looking at the lcrx 327 and 357 foe weight carry. Thank you in advance for your time and trouble.

First off, no, I would not feel safe using such a small caliber for bear defense. From a snubby, 327 is very similar to 9mm from a pocket pistol. (See the comparison shoots by Gun Sam - his comment is pinned). Personally, I would want nothing less than a 3" barrel 357 magnum, which brings me to answer #2: 357 Magnum is way more powerful than 327 Federal. I'm not sure where the comparisons are coming from, but from the chronograph tests I've seen, 357 blows away everything that is regularly cited as its competition except possibly 10mm. Even with 10mm, 357 destroys it out of 6" or longer barrels - from what I've seen. I don't own those calibers, but then, I don't live in grizzly country. For Alaskan bears, I'd want a shotgun with slugs, or a semiautomatic rifle. For the little black bears we have here in Minnesota, a .38 loaded with Underwood's 158 grain +P hard cast lead rounds would probably be adequate. I've tested those rounds and found 400 ft-lbs of energy from my 1.9" barrel and almost unlimited penetration. From a full size handgun they'll outperform any 9mm round I'm aware of.

@@GeographyCzar Thank you for your prompt reply. Most people get big headed and won't reply back , so I do thank you for that . I live in Va. In the Blue Ridge Mountains and our black bears get huge I have one on my teeny tiny site , I even have a Bigfoot on there 0059." The Big Fellar " That's how I named my site ,we have a big boy who enjoys messing with us . No one goes outside after dark. He or she is never seen ,and if seen , it's hauling ass . It likes to move items from here to there. We played rock for over a year. I'd put it over here ,next day it would be somewhere else. So everyone in my family has a concealed permit even my Daughter in law . Black bears only growth standard is food. The one tearing down my bird feeders is huge . Car hit him couple weeks later and totalled the truck . The guy was having him mounted lol. He said it was pushing 600 lbs. The one shot in Canada was bigger than the world record Grizzly ,you can google it . Ron Spooner shot it. If you know of him he's a famous writer and hunter. I always carry a glock 20 converted to a 9x25 dillon or one of my 44 mags when in the mountains. We even have big cats , but the game commission always denies it. But I've seen them . Scary looking things ,when you're used to a house cat or bobcat "got them too" and you see a mountain lion it leaves you drop jawed to say the least . We hope and pray the story's of hogzilla breeding for so long un-killed , will die off soon too. meeting a 1300 pound pig in the mountains will be bad too. I always thought that was a lie ,till I saw the story on National Geographic and they don't just make up story's and lie. Had to lift it with a backhoe ,can you imagine . A 13 year old boy killed another one last year ,it was literally eating the tree down he had climbed up. Peace.

@@thebigfellar7178 yep, you want nothing less than long barrel 357. I like your choice, 44 magnum. One of my oldest friends lives in Estes Park, he says the black bears around there have grown to fill the niche left by the extinction (or near extinction) of grizzlies in Colorado. He bought a full size Glock 10mm after one started breaking into his attached garage to raid his meat freezer. One night he went into the garage to see what the commotion was and he said it looked four feet high at the shoulder. Upon his suggestion, the bear ran, but it was in such a hurry it forgot to squeeze carefully through the open side door on its way out - took the frame right out of the wall, LOL!

@@GeographyCzar I made my glock 20 into a 9x25 dillon because I wanted terminal velocity in a high capacity handgun. Terminal velocity means anywhere I hit you ,good chance you die. Then I bought the Springfield xdm in 10 mm . to make up for the Glock. My rifle is a ar -10 in 308 25 rounds . Once you see a Bigfoot with your own eyes , you want lethal force from then on. I don't mind people laughing at me . I was the same way . I always thought they were hogwash too. I had never seen one , and i practically lived in the woods. Then we bought our little farm ,and there he was. Just like that. People said Hogzilla was hogwash too. And Giant Squid that can pull a boat under. Funny how they are real too. Now the mountains and valleys aren't what they used to be , I look like a pirate going in , guns and knives hanging all over me. lol. But it is what it is , ya know. Peace.

@@thebigfellar7178 BTW, I've seen the Blue Ridge. Lived practically in sight of it (Hickory, NC) for 3 months. LOVE it. Thanks for the account. I believe you about Big Foot. The year I turned 30 I first set foot on the Olympic Penn in Washington state. I realized no one could ever know what was 10 feet from the edge of the road. The rain forest is just too thick, and there's millions of acres of it! Same with the forest I saw as a teen down in the mountains of Carolina & VA. Thanks again for your comments. It took me back to a time and place I've never forgotten. I'd love to have your budget for firearms. Someday soon... if we 're still allowed to buy them.

Federal loads down the 32 H&R, and the 327 Fed up. For a real fair comparison run some Buffalo Bore 100 Gr XTP again some Fed 327
