You said it correctly at the 10:50 mark; if that polishing and fitting work had been done at the factory (hand finishing, like the ol' days), you'd have paid $900 - $1,000 for that gun. I recently purchased a brand new S&W 629 for close to $900 and it still needed some work once I got it home. Plus, I found some sort of tooling mark on the underside of the barrel. Still love the gun, but out of the box it doesn't compare to my model 29 manufactured in 1979 in terms of fit and finish. I also had to do some work on a Marlin 1895 I purchased new not long ago. I guess that's just one of the perils of modern gun ownership, unfortunately. I honestly think manufacturers skip certain things during the assembly process because they know it'd raise the prices of their firearms. On the bright side, after doing that work yourself, you've got a nice, hand finished firearm that'll last a few lifetimes, if not more. Enjoy, and thanks for sharing the video.

GunBlue did a presentation awhile back on the new S&W Classic revolver he bought. He pointed out that working as a Police Department Armorer that he had to disassemble, inspect and polish brand new S&W Revolvers before they were put into service. He did this as his career and vocation. He was pleasantly pleased with the new S&W Classic and viewed it as vastly superior to the old models out of the box. The thought that they were machined and polished to perfection from the factory is observed when you handle an old one. Many of them went thru a gun smithing or have 25,000+ rounds thru them to polish things up. So it is true in observation but false in science. I suspect that Ruger wants to be able to show a jury that their guns do not leave the factory with slick, smooth, or light trigger pulls. I have found that dry firing a Ruger polishes & marries up the parts. It may take more than 6 hours of work dry firing... The hammer spring is always higher than needed and should be replaced. I never use federal primers with replacement springs. You cleared $50 per hour after taxes polishing it yourself. You also know that on your first range trip you have perfection. The Ruger design is so simple that it it almost made for DIY Gun Smithing. This was an excellent video for the "Stay @ Home Ordered" performance center enthusiast. I have a special edition Ruger made for a retailers specification. Elvis Ammo has one too. It seems that they polish these as we both had fantastic triggers straight from the box. He measured his trigger pull and it was very low to what is stated in the inner webs. The frame mark on your Ruger is disappointing. S&W issued revolvers with cockeyed barrels thru the last decade. The Colt problem this year is mind blowing. It seems that QC inspection PRIOR to shipping has been leaned down to much. Taurus fell about as low as you can. They seem to be turning around. A new facility in Georgia is a good sign. Rock Island Armory is importing revolvers from Checoslovakia. They look really nice. Charter Arms is still plugging away. They simply just work. Their new 32 Magnum (7) Shot 3" revolver looks very nice. The Kimber Revolvers have set a new standard. They are not afraid to sell a revolver with a match trigger. 1st of all sir i want to thank you 4 watching and the great comment also it is good to hear from you again, i didn't want this to be a hour and a half video it was just basically for gun buyers to be mindful of what their getting out of the factory's of these brand named gun company's and that they should not be too disappointed even thou we pay good money for a product that should be already for use by the consumer once they recieve it...it's just the way things are done these days of slam bam here's your gun Sam!!.

I think they are just trying to hold their price. People will only pay so much more for a revolver. Not many gun smiths are around for this same reason. We cannot afford their services. Two generations back the economics were different.

Nice. I never saw a Ruger box like that so they must be new, but look really nice. Looks like the Wiley Clapp cylinder. This is the exact revolver that I am trying to get for my mother. She's old and don't like recoil, so I figure .32 S&W Long would be about perfect in this.

this revolver with the 3" barrel is made for this revolver it add's the perfect balance without looking short or long, it just looks like well designed pistol to me this is a normal size for the .32 caliber i'm very glad i purchased it, i know i'm gonna be hooked on this caliber because of the variety of .32 cal cartridges i can use in it, i believe you mom will enjoy it, has she tryed your LCR yet?

I'm saying this in regards to all the firearms manufacturers and the build quality, Not because I'm a some Ruger hater. for what we pay for firearms, they should come right out of the box slick as wet ice on ice. they did that in the 40's 50's 60's 70's and 80's but for some reason, Value quality degraded. Back then, when you bought cheap you got cheap and that was expected. However, now premiere manufacturers are resorting to slapping things together right as soon as the CNC machining is done. thing is, if we accept that level of quality, it is only going to down from there. there shouldn't be any excuse or reason for turning out crap when you buy a name brand that once stood for sound quality and workmanship.-Dave

Dave i agree 100%, and when i saw the M-CARBO shim and spring kit video for the sp-101 i knew i was gonna have QA control issues with the gun, with all my S&W revolvers i never had to do any thing to them they came naturally smooth and blemish free, but the only .327 federal magnum on the firearms roster for sale was the ruger, there were no others that california would allow sale to the public, so i already knew this was going to be a major project, so i spent my whole saturday tearing down and hand buffing the contact parts of the gun, i remember buying a ruger for 333$ out the door when i first bought my GP-100 in .357 mag, a know for sure this is price gouging i bought my s&w 686-6 a year ago for 719$ and its a much better gun, rugers prices should be at least 200 lower than s&w's thanks 4 watching Dave.

What do you use to clean the cylinder ring carbon and chambers?
@Ford360CID

sorry for the delay, i also used mothers aluminum polish as well and a tooth brush to agitate the polish to remove the carbon rings.
