Putting it in a pan of boiling water (120f /100c) for 8-10 mins. Try this next time, works without any damage to housing. Also works to dismatel seized older brake pistons.
Thanks for watching and for your input, Bears Rod Shop! I actually tried the boiling method before dismantling and filming, but it didn't work in my case.
@@Pexyz Hi Pexy, thank you. W109 is in bits at the moment and I am struggling slowly to put it together. Tell me is the air slide Valve supposed to close off completely on 3.5 v8
So the problem was the auxiliary air valve was stuck wide open resulting into a very lean air and fuel mixture during warm-up phase. Job well done, your video was very clear. Thanks for posting.
You're very welcome Amade 1756! Thank you so much for watching and for the nice comment! Good luck with the 450 SL. I hope it works out for you. /Peter
Thanks for taking the time to make that high-quality video, I will take mine off because I’m having a similar problem on my 3.5 L V8 now, thanks again!
You have no idea how helpful this video is. Ive been trying to figure out whats goin on with my 74 450se w116 for tooo long. Im gonna try this and hopefully it helps
Really appreciate this video! I´ve got 450SE w116 with same engine. The problemn ist that its very difficult to find certain parts for the engine. Everything needs to be fixed of its own. Please make more videos of this D-jet! Thanks!
Nice work. I had the same idling problem with my 1971 350SL M116 engine and D-jetronic. I took the easier way to solve the problem and put a plastic plug with 8 mm hole in it inside the upper rubber hose. And now it idles steady 800 rpm. Of course this would cause a problem when trying to idle car in winter temps but I only use it summer time so it is no issue for me. Maybe I´ll try your way to fix it properly later.
Super job, did you fit a new gasket before you refitted the air slide valve? I didn't see, but they're easy to cut from gasket paper if you don't have one.
Looking back at this video, I think this may be the problem that I'm having with my recently newly bought w116 280SE, after changing the injector seal rubbers, the intake manifold gaskets and some rubber hoses it still idles kind of the same like this, but it's performing great under load!
Great 👍 video I love watching your videos. I have a duel Zenith carburetor and its high on idling. Would you happen to have any tips on fixing this issue? I have a 1970 250C Mercedes Benz.
Thanks Danny, very nice to hear! I'm far from an expert on these carbs, but I know that the acc linkage can cause problems if axles joints and springs are seized or not mounted properly. Otherwise maybe you should check the nozzles. Greetings /Peter
This is huge thanks. My dad has one exactly like yours with the same problem. A Chevy mechanic said it might have been a valve problem, but I will try this first. Where do you get your filters from for oil and fuel?
Thanks Alexander! Very very nice to hear. I guess you should be able to order the filters at some local parts store. Otherwise you can get them from your MB dealer. They're not very expensive. I usually buy my filters from a local parts store. Good luck with your project! /Peter
Hi, im having problems with my 79 450 slc, car starts when hard on gas pedal, runs in the high rpm, dies immediately when i lift my foot off the gas pedal, wont start again unless you clean the spark plugs which get all wet
Hard to say, but maybe you have problems with the cold start valve? Unfortunately I'm not very familiar with the injection system you have in your '79. K-Jet i think. Greetings //Peter
Hi Luke and thank you very much for watching 👌. Your fuel pump might look different, but the function should be the same. Your car is quite early and the look of the pump may vary between model years or if it's been replaced sometime during the years. //Peter
Thanks for the video and congratulations for the work! One question: I am renovating an MB D-jet 280SE 6 cyl, 1976, which had been idle for 20 years. It works very well, but it loses power on the way up, coming to a stop. I already changed, candles, cables, coil, exhaust and the problem persists. What can it be?
Thanks for watching Marcos! Hard to say what the problem is on your car, but one idea in continuing the troubleshooting would be to connect a fuel pressure gauge to the feed line. That way you might be able to see if you lose pressure. Otherwise it may still be on the ignition side. /Peter
The idle pressure is 2 bar. It may be that on the way up the pressure drops. I will try to read the pressure gauge on the way up, to check if the pressure drops. Thanks!
Was it rough under driving too while it had a rough idle? I have a w126 500sel with the same issue. Car runs and idle rough with no power until it heats up fully. Car also has no catalytic converter delete, can that cause the issue?
My car ran rough only when idling. I guess your 500 has a different engine and another ignition system than mine. Unfortunately I don't know enought about them to give you proper adivce. Thanks for watching and good luck with your car!
