This is so awesome dude!! Love playing with this timing. I’ve done it a few times before but u really helped with giving me ideas of how I can play with it. Especially opening up possibilities and variances with handing. R, L, L, R, L, L, R, L. So cool! Thanks for this!
:) :) :) I have so many fun 332 lessons coming...I Love this rhythm too! At first I was going to do a whole course on this Rhythm alone...I still might...we shal see :)
Thank you so much! 🌟 I'm loving these beginner videos ! Just got my first handpan and with no music theory background I really appreciate the breakdowns and back to basic tutorials! 💚☀️💙 Appreciate you !
Great content. Great delivery. Forms a connection and inniates action. I had a wonderful session after ur last vid and can't wait to practice and incorporate this lesson in the morning. It's much appreciated. 🌿🤟🏼JusNoFus
awesome! I so glad you like it :) Its a favorite of mine. If you feel inspired id love to hear what you work out on fb group :) facebook.com/handpan360
That’s what I love about really understanding these rhythms on the center, plain and simple, then when you start to apply them on tone fields it gets really fun and you know exactly the pattern we intend to do. Sometimes if I rush to tone fields too early I loose the core idea.
@@Handpan360 Test recording on here brother - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Wzw6xyk59y8.html 332 Rhythm starts at 2:15. Kept me busy during the holidays learning it. Great fun. Tried your other groove as well at the end , the 3 + Paradiddle one. Still needs a fair bit work till it gets tighter in my mind. Much love and thanks for teaching me these. Happy new year to you as well.
Man I’m so happy to hear that. You are most welcome, makes me so happy imagining folks playing during Christmas time. got a handful more coming before Christmas, stay tuned :)
It looks like soooo much fun!!! I'm in the very early process of buying one of these gorgeous drums. Very overwhelming process with the various scales. How does one decide? And then there is the question of what type of handpan. And finally, what is the difference between the hang drum and the handpan drum? Buying my djembe was a much easier process. Thanks for another inspiring video!
I am working on all videos to answer all those questions. In the meantime, if you would like, I do phone and zoom consulatations and I can answer all your questions and point you in the right direction :) Just hit me up on my FB group: facebook.com/handpan360
Really dig the flow and structure of this video. Do you create a detailed script first or do you start with a general outline and shoot short scenes and add additional footage as needed?
Each video is different. Lately it seems to be ideal to start with a title, and work backwards. So far I haven’t scripted anything. I do bullet points and make sure I get each point somewhere in the video. This particular video was unique. It came out of my morning practice. During practice, When I find something I would love to make a video of, i record a quick overhead of the basic idea. But these usually go into the vault never to return. So this time the gear was reasonably ready to go so I just decided to film it right away. I just covered the important basics and the melodies unfolded bit by bit as I started to remember the things I like to do in this format. Still, by the end I had just under an hour of raw footage for this 10min lesson. I love the natural flow of this method but it is super Labour intensive on the editing side. Close to and hour and a half or more per minute of edited footage. This has had me consider experiment with formal scripting...maybe I’ll end up with a hybrid. Not sure, more trial and error needed 😆 Great question as always 🥰
@@Handpan360 Cool to hear your process! The end result builds very naturally and has a really cohesive feeling even though you build it up in an organic and intuitive way. I have heard from other music RU-vidrs that the video editing is the most intensive part. Sounds like a lot of work!
@@KarolBlonski I am so glad you enjoy it! I tried my best to fill it with as much of my favorites as possible :) One could definitly spend a few weeks/months exploring the variations. Ive been playing it for 10 years and still not bored of it
@@Handpan360 With your energy, for sure nothing and you will never get bored;) I will be visiting for sure! I have been playing for about 14 months and I know there is still a lot ahead of me. Good job !
I'm a righty but feel like I can play this better starting with my left (on ding). It feels easier to move around to the other notes with my right hand. Any reason why I should start with my right (on the ding)? Thanks in advance.
No reason whatsoever 🙂 there are all sort of patterns one of my hand does better than the other, seemingly with no rhyme or reason, that’s one of the main reasons I love exploring with both leads. You can lean into strengths and develop weakness. Nothing is in a vacuum. Every choice is about where you are going and where you are headed, and what is the intention. For instance you may choose to use the right hand on the ding of the melody was leading to a fill starting with a note on the left side. It really just depends. But generally speaking, for much of your practice and playing, it’s great to go with what feels natural and good...and still developing now and again, the less natural feel, which will make you a better long term player imo 💓💓💓 Great question
