Solid gains throughout the entire performance band. Approximately 9whp and 5wtq at the top end. I actually gained as much as 23wtq at 2800rpm, which is enormous.

Yeah it really is hard to tell just from the video. There was definitely rasp reduction. Now, it sounds more like a quasi-rasp - a bit of a mechanical sound with a high harmonic. However, even that is limited. It's like the car wants to rasp like it used to, but won't. Before, it was like an a raspiness on-off switch at 3300RPM. I have the Stillen exhaust to blame entirely for any raspy tendencies that are left. It also removed the drone I was getting at low RPMs.

Honestly, I'd recommend a tune. It's not critically necessary, but it would help you out. So if you went with an Uprev reflash, you could get a tune in the meantime but later on down the road you could simply use one or two of their 3 free e-tunes to get the tune in line with the addition of a new cat-back exhaust. It's a bit of money up front, but I don't think you would regret it. You'd see gains and you would get that peace of mind from knowing your car is running more reliably.

@cbeck611 They're essentially advanced straight pipes. While typical straight pipes simply replace the catalytic converters with simple pipes (i.e. absolutely no resistance or emissions control), these have specially tuned Helmholtz resonance chambers built into them to 1) eliminate unwanted frequencies that cause rasp or droning in the exhaust note and 2) actually help the exhaust flow, giving you more power and torque than either any set of High Flow Cats or Straight Pipes.

@socboy001 I understand what you're saying. However, I wouldn't get too wrapped up in the back-pressure issue. While I don't claim to fully understand it, I can certainly tell you that just because you open it up doesn't mean there is no more pressure. Depending on the car and depending on the mods, the pressure difference can be played with a great deal. You'll be fine with a full header-back exhaust. People do it all the time. I just put my Stillen headers up for sale, if you're interested.

@MrOblivion582 I'm actually not sure. I did dyno after the headers, but I think there was some other issue with the car that was causing a drop in power. Either that or the original dyno was recalibrated. But after I did a before/after dyno for removing the headers, it showed that they had given me about 11whp at around 6600 rpm. The numbers that Stillen advertised were actually spot-on. So to answer your question in a roundabout way, yeah, it should have put me in the 280's.

@js04r Possibly. I just worry that more video will simply fail to capture the differences - like it might be something you have to hear in person. The guy who installed them on my car actually says he doesn't hear any rasp anymore. I think it would be a safe bet to assume that these would both perform and sound better than RTPs. But that's really just educated guessing on my part.

It seems really unlikely that you would have lost power - especially if you went from stock cats to ART Pipes. Either way, the gas mileage jump, if not indicative of some problem (as that's a big jump in mpg), could be indicative of the car running pretty lean. The problem is that the 350Z ECU (for the DE much more so than the HR Z's) sort of doesn't know what to do when you add too many breathing mods. A tune ends up being necessary, but will work wonders: more power, more reliability.

@pfregeolle As I said before, the difference is very hard to notice from just a RU-vid video. In actuality there was a significant difference.

They cost me $660 up front, but I'm getting a $200 discount for getting independent, same-day dyno data and sound clips. I actually just wrote up the first independent review of these on my350z. The link is in the video details on the side, if you're interested.

Can you hear any rasp when it revs down? My Berk HFCs have the same rasp & I thought I had blown the honeycomb or had a loose heat shield but I googled it & was told it's just back pressure or something associated with the engines. What's your input on this? Cuz I was about to buy ART pipes but if it has the same rasp then idk anymore..

Ok so it turns out I had a bad 02 sensor , wires were ripped .... So I replaced it and removed the CEL and now it seems to b running better . I'll still end up tuning it eventually though

thanks for the reply , list of mods are ,MD 5/16 SPACER , MD ART PIPES AND NISMO CIA , SHOULD I WAIT TILL I GET THE FULL CATBaCK EXHAUST to tune or would it make any difference

@11aamiller Well, at the time of this video, it was a matter of money. That and my Stillen was working just fine. However, I actually DID end up getting the Motordyne TDX V2 Exhaust. im hoping someone can help me out here , so i installed the art pipes yesterday and it seems like i lost power :/ .... and my mpg jumped from 17 to 25 that cant b good right ? i was reading in forums that if u put a lot of bolt ons ur car sometimes it would run lean and a tune would take care of that , i this true ?
