I don’t have nearly the planting space that you do yet, but definitely hope to grow (pun intended)! I grew Anaheim chili peppers last year and they were very mild. I dehydrated them to use a base for my chili powder mix. Aji Dulce peppers are very small, sweet and thin skinned used in Puerto Rican cooking. I grow them for my husband. Last year I tested a few San Marzano tomatoes from different seed companies. Johnny’s Seeds did the best. St. Clare Roma tomato seeds also did well. As for bell peppers, I’m growing red, yellow, and orange California Wonder. The reds were phenomenal for me last year. If I need green peppers I’ll just pick them off those plants before they mature.

Best video ever!!!! Thank you! This was so incredibly helpful, and I know that you had to have done a ton of prep work to make such a valuable video! I somehow had the idea that you had to plant many of the same variety rather than 1 or 2 of each variety, such as your peppers and tomatoes! I will be re-watching this, at least 1 more time, but I am guessing more than that. I do have a question - about how long can you store your unused seeds? I had thought they were to be used up in 1 year or they would have a poor germination rate.
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a 8 месяцев назад
Good question. Seeds do start to degrade over time but it depends on the veggie. Onions about 2 years but tomatoes about 7 years. Even seeds that go “bad” faster will still germinate. They will just have a much lower rate so you may need 3-4 seeds per cell versus 1-2. They keep longer if they are kept at room temperature (vs super hot or super cold) and away from light (no clear packaging). MIGardener resurrected a tomato seed 30 years old so seeds can last a long time.

My winter garden is doing great. The garlic is thriving and Im excited to harvest it when its ready. I love eggplant especially with a tomato slice. I fry them. Feel you on the corn. I had a horrible time last summer with mine. This is my third year for my asparagus so I get fresh asparagus this year. I also companion planted strawberry with the asparagus too. My pineapples are on second year so I expect a few of them too. Dragon fruit doing well. I have my container tomatoes in the greenhouse and they are still producing. I have some teddybear sunflowers Im going to try this year. As well as some wildflowers and marigolds too. However, I do need to get me a planner. As you saw in my video I row plant most things. I do have a couple raised beds and plan for more. But i do not plan good 😂. I will get the seed box out and start planning soon. I have half my row garden empty. Got some grape vines going so Im curious to how well they will do. They are dormant now. I will make another video of my garden progress and put it on my channel. I need to make some more. Are you really complaining about an 11 second ad she gave you a whole hour of free information? She put hours of her time into this video to share free information with you, but you complain about an 11 second ad 😑 I'm sorry but you shouldn't sweat the small stuff and you could be saying thank you to her instead

This was great planning. Loved being part of your thought process. I have a newbie question: should I expect that my fall/winter garden of tomato plants, eggplants,broccoli and collards will not make it thru to my spring transplanting mid feb, for space planning purpose? Also never plant same type of family in same spot? I have it all scattered in my 2 beds. I’m in Zone 10a. And I used your planner last year and loved, so will help me review where I planted etc. being a former IT PM for man years 😊 Soooo helpful!!!

I usually use up my seeds within 3 to 5 years, so I just keep them in an air-conditioned environment in a dark place like a closet

Not sure if you allow your flowers go to seed, but in the event that you do, how do you maintain your garden if you change your plans. I change my locations of where I plant things because they do not always work out or soil needs to be amended or bed need to be replaced. I allow all of my plants to go to seed and the seeds always tend to drop or pop.

I do the same so if something pops up in an area that I don’t want it, I pull it like it’s a weed. Also, you can wrap tule around the top of your flowers so that if the seeds drop they’ll drop into the tule and not into the bed.

A while ago i sent you a message about a fig tree that I grew from a twig a friend gave me that grew to 12 feet high and 8 ft wide and how we go 36 jars of fig jam from it. We are trimming it soon and I would like to know if you want to trade a twig from your Maringa tree for a twig from my fig tree? We live in Saint Cloud Florida so the climate should be the same.
