Hello Jean, yes I am starting to stitch daily again as I too have enjoyed hand sewing since childhood and am now recovering from stroke so trying to coax my brain and hands to work more efficiently again. I am happy to be a new subscriber and wish you well for 2024. Vera in Northern Ireland

Hi Jean - my mother taught me how to embroider when I was a little girl; I have loved it since then. I discovered what I have been looking for all my life, it seems. It is called "slow stitching". I discovered two ladies who do this, one in the UK and one in Australia. The gal in England is Anne Brooke. Look at her 2020 projects. I have made the book - just for the love of stitching! The other gal in Australia is Lisa Mattocks. I have made her quilt called "Alfred". There are twenty 6 x 7 1/2 inch rectangles, all hand sewn, all birds using scraps of fabric and laces. I use thin batting instead of fabric or flannel. It is so easy to sew. I loved working on all of this. Like you said, it's a bit addicting. I loved every minute of it. They are on RU-vid and Instagram, easy to find. I hope you like them, too. Cathy Linde

Thanks for the book recommendations, Jean! Fragmentation and Repair is a great inspiration book with some excellent exercises to explore. And on pg. 58/59 is a very touching section on personal items, tokens, mothers left with their children in the London Foundling Hospital, something that would help them reclaim their child.

Does Shelley Rhode’s book show how to stitch the various stitches that are used in the Daily Practice?
@Stitchinpost
@Stitchinpost 2 года назад
The book's focus is more concept and technique, not on stitching tutorials. Does that answer your question?
