Hi there!
I'm Emily and I had a late diagnosis of Inattentive ADD (a type of ADHD) just two months after my 30th birthday. Finding out I was neurodivergent was scary and exciting, but now I'm ready to start treatment!
In this video, I start to vlog my fifth week on Concerta, with this being only my second week on a 36mg dose. I talk about my side effects, benefits and improvements. I had a great week - the improvements to my mood and motivation have been massive!
I hope that this improvement in mood and motivation leads to a lessening in my depression and anxiety symptoms over time - my goal is to stop taking antidepressants one day soon :)
Concerta XL is a prolonged/slow/long release stimulant medication (its scientific name is methylphenidate!) used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This medication is sometimes called Ritalin, Daytrana or Focalin - particularly in the US. Other ADHD medications that you might be familiar with are Vyvanse, Dexadrine and Adderall, which are amphetamines, rather than methylphenidates, however, they are all stimulants. This video shows my 6th week on the drug and highlights some of its effects on my mind, mood and body.
I will be continuing a vlog showing my experience with ConcertaXL as I test out my current dose and through the titration period. (Started on 18mg, now taking 36mg).
Whether you're considering starting Concerta XL, have already begun treatment, are curious about ADHD and its links to depression, or are simply looking for some reassurance that you're not alone, this video is for you.
Be sure to say hi in the comments - I'd love to make some new friends in the neurodivergence community, and don't forget to like, share and subscribe for more videos on mental health, ADHD, and related topics!
PLEASE NOTE: I am not a medical professional, this video is for entertainment and anecdotal information only. Always consult your healthcare provider if you are considering taking any medication to make sure it is safe and right for you.

Thank you for these vlogs! Your experience is quite the opposite from others that have shared journeys. Glad you have none of the negative side effects. I wonder if the lack of appetite is you hyperfocus kicking in?

Hey there :) Thank you for your comment and supporting my channel! I think you could be right - almost like I'm now so focused on whatever I am working on that I forget to eat? That would make sense.

realy like the glasses ! the hard too normal diffculty part makes sense u need to know what normal is for yourself tho. adhd brainbeing what it is it is hard too discover sometimes. think u showed confidince being able too make the video with and withouth makeup and also little clutter on the background , i say this because i myself was not confident in these things so i realy admire that . i saw this video over being confident means learning what makes u inscure because we are born confident inscurity is something we teach ourself. so to be confident is to unlearn insecurity . i found interesting it helped me maby it help u too . just a side note i just write this (typ) i dont expect an awnsere . i think what u are doing is awsome u are sharing a journy most people would be too afraid too share it is not easy but u are clearly very strong sorry if typ too much but it just feels realy relatable and well it gets me thinking about alot of things hope u keep uploading but i expect nothing u would not want too do yourself .

Hey there Natz! Thank you for your comment and advice! Yes, I am customising my resume, and writing new cover letters for every role I apply for! Very time consuming. Sigh. Contacting my old uni is a good idea though - I will look into it. Thanks again! :)

She covers the 18x2 vs 36 dosing a three vlogs before (it's in the title).

You should really be asking your family physician that question. She isn’t a medical professional, plus I’ve never actually witnessed a medical professional give some random individual in the comment section personalized medical advice. Too many liabilities involved and that’s why it’s best for you to speak with your doc who actually has a record that pertains to you!

Heya, I'm not a medical professional so I can't give you advice on how to take your medication or how much of it to take. Please talk to your doctor before increasing your dose as they will need to monitor you and make sure it is safe :) Be patient and give the 18mg time to work - sometimes the effects can take a few weeks to become evident. Good luck with your treatment!

Are you gonna be using that med for the rest of your life.
@adhdemily
@adhdemily Год назад
Hi there JustADude, I really hope not, but I'm trying to not get too far ahead of myself and think too far ahead; what I need right now will be different to what I need in the future, as my circumstances will change. I am aware that I need to be flexible!
