whats the height on the main building and height on the lean to porch?
@SouthernPineOutdoors
@SouthernPineOutdoors 4 года назад
12ft x 10ft garage doors, and 15ft overhang down to 12ft on the end of the over hang. Thanks for the comment, sorry it has taken me till now to respond!

Was it built by a contractor? You could probably cut that price by more than half if you build it yourself.
@SouthernPineOutdoors
@SouthernPineOutdoors 4 года назад
Yes, the building was built by a private contractor. Thats why the cost was a bit higher than even I expected. Thanks for the comment!!

Thanks for the video.. You must not get a snow load?
@SouthernPineOutdoors
@SouthernPineOutdoors 3 года назад
It might snow a total of 6 inches a year not much here in the south lol
@SmartEasyDIYer
@SmartEasyDIYer 3 года назад
@@SouthernPineOutdoors I wondered because the way they did the trusses and roof purlins would never work where I live. We have to build a lot heavier for snow load.
@SouthernPineOutdoors
@SouthernPineOutdoors 3 года назад
I have noticed that through other RU-vid videos and some of the Facebook groups I follow. I bet those that have to build stronger roofs are a lot stronger and will last a lot longer as well.

Hahaha yes they went with the green color I would have gone with beige but they (my cousin) wouldn’t listen to me lol

Seems very high for a bare 36x48 with no electrical or insulation, no?
@SouthernPineOutdoors
@SouthernPineOutdoors 4 года назад
I agree. Although this is not my building I think the price that was given to me was a bit high, although i do like the lean to on the side. I may do that to my shop in the future! Thanks for the comment!

shoulda built it taller... then put the man cave upstairs. (Oh, and turn up the sound.)
@SouthernPineOutdoors
@SouthernPineOutdoors 4 года назад
Thanks for the comment! I will work on turning up the sound. In regards to the Man Cave idea that would be awesome to have it upstairs like that, or use it as storage and have the man cave downstairs??? Your thoughts on that?

I agree with you there! Sometimes....at least for me its better to pay someone to build or do something for you instead of you having to deal with the little headaches along the way. On my shop I have a long term plan to add a lean to on the side of my shop like this and i would do that by myself/with the help of some friends haha. Thanks for leaving the comment!

I built a 30x40x16 with 12x12 door and 8x9 door and "36" walk in door all 2x6 construction and reinforced concrete for $13,500 a month ago all materials from menards. Just me and the family.

@@robshirley8517 Thats awesome!! I bet you love that shop! What do you do mainly in yours? Mine currently is used for storage of my toys like my lawn mower, truck, utv, and some random hunting and fishing stuff hahaha.

No way would I build a shop of any kind with a wood frame. All steel or nothing at all.
@SouthernPineOutdoors
@SouthernPineOutdoors 4 года назад
I actually agree with you there! The shop that was already built on our property was made from wood and it is showing some termite damage already. I would assume that wood is easier and cheaper to work with that is why most people go that route. Thanks for the comment!!
@charlesstevenson5141
@charlesstevenson5141 4 года назад
@@SouthernPineOutdoors I haven't seen a huge difference in price but in the long term to keep having to make repairs just isn't worth it. Besides termites being my biggest concern is eventually the main posts into the ground rotting out from water weaking the whole structure. If I had to go wood, I would at least use steel support columns with wood trussing and side hats.
@SouthernPineOutdoors
@SouthernPineOutdoors 4 года назад
That makes a lot of sense! and also metal is a lot stronger than wood in my opinion and looks better longer than wood. I like watching a lot of Successful Farmings RU-vid videos of the shop tours they do from Farmers across the US. Although those shops are way over kill for most, they are still sweet to get ideas from and decide what types of doors or organization you may want in your own shop!

Wood is a lot cheaper and guys like Kyle Stupenhorst (RR Builders on his YT channel) build them in a manner where wood never touches the ground. His buildings will last a long, long time unless they get in the path of a tornado.
@DimagoDiesel
@DimagoDiesel 4 года назад
Yeah way too expensive... Anyone whose good with their hands, has tools, the skills and know how they could do this exact build for a fraction of the price
@SouthernPineOutdoors
@SouthernPineOutdoors 4 года назад
I agree with you there! Sometimes its just easier to pay someone to build it for you when you have a full time job and you want it done. We have been needing this building for over 2 years on the farm. We have plans to do the electrical inside on our own when the time comes. Thanks for the comment!
@hhanger1

I would imagine most people don't have the tools, the skill and know how to build something like this. That's a good thing for contractors and keeps them busy..
@SouthernPineOutdoors
@SouthernPineOutdoors 3 года назад
Yea those contractors stay busy that’s for sure! Thanks for the comments guys!!
@Rust2Roks
@Rust2Roks 3 года назад
Maybe their time is worth more than what it cost to pay the contractor.
@SouthernPineOutdoors
@SouthernPineOutdoors 3 года назад
Yea I agree there is pride and money saved in being able to do it yourself, but sometimes it’s just simply easier to allow the contractor to do it. Neither is wrong just depends on your level of skill and your wallet! Thanks all for the comments!
