I will share 37 travel hacks for packing a carryon bag for the airplane, for the hotel, and for the airport. This is a long list of tips and tricks I have been gathering for 2 years of travel so these will help you. Many of the packing hacks are inside this Bento Bag by Nomad Lane who is sponsoring this video. The number one travel hack is to pack essentials in your personal item bag. This tip makes more space in your carryon.
Another hack is to pack an extra vacation outfit in a compression cube. Slide it in this underseat personal item bag like you would a laptop.

When I travel especially international, I always grab a hotel business card and if we need to take a taxi back to the hotel, we just show the driver the business card..has saved us many times when the driver doesn't speak English.

Yes really helpful especially if language is an issue. Hotels usually type the hotel name in the local language too

I use my phones map app and pin drop the location I am staying and when I enter the taxi I show the driver the location I need to get to and I can track the distance to make sure they aren’t taking the long route. They see it as well.

I tried so many backpacks for traveling (not for hiking). I didn't like that they tended to collapse into themselves or fall over when free standing, or that everything fell to the bottom and I could not find what I was looking for. One day I was at target trying to find something better than what I had when I came across the baby aisle. It was then I discovered that what I was looking for was a diaper bag! I found that the storage and pockets made so much sense, it was available in adult colors, and it stood up on its own. This is now my new travel best friend.

Just found your channel and I’m obsessed. I consider myself a seasoned traveler traveling to Europe in a carryon for over 17 yrs. I LOVE the hack about soaking the cotton balls in makeup remover ahead of time. Didn’t know that wouldn’t be a liquid when just damp. ❤️

My travel tip is for my jewelry. I use a plastic travel soap dish. Also use a drinking straw for my necklaces. Place one end of the necklace through the straw and attach it at the bottom. It keeps them from tangling.

In my hotel room, I always immediately do these things: I take out and clean the air conditioner filters, i clean them in the bathroom sink or bathtub or shower, i ask for extra shampoo to use to clean the filters. Wipe ac buttons with sanitizer wipes, too. I also bring ziplock baggies to put the tv remotes in. So i don't touch those icky buttons. Remote works inside the baggie. Another hack is immediately wipe all door knobs or handles inside and outside with sanitizer wipes, also all dresser, cabinet, and closet knobs and all wall light switches and those on the lamps as well. Wipe Fridge handles and microwave buttons too. Buttons on the safes, too. Be safe and enjoy your trip!!
@fattony9227
@fattony9227 5 месяцев назад
I do most of the tips you mentioned but I like the idea of using plastic bags on remotes. In addition, I usually pay more attention to coffee making equipment. I clean the water kettle and NOT use any drinking glasses or coffee cups supplied by the hotel. I bring my own coffee cup and use paper cups for water drinking. I stay away from using hotel cutlery, use plastic spoons and forks, wash dishes and bowls thoroughly with hot water and soap. I would not use the bathroom robes either.

Lush sells tins for their shampoo bars that fit them perfectly so no wet bars! Also, if you take two rubber bands and wrap them around the open tin (make like a little trampoline for the bar) and set your bar on top, it lets your bar dry out between uses so it’s not a gloopy mess on the bottom of the wet tin if you’ve kept it in the shower 👍🏻

So smart! Might try this for the bar soap they give for the sink.

Lots of good ideas here! Just yesterday I reorganized the 5 pouches that I keep in my personal bag. ( I keep them packed so I can grab it whether for flying or driving.)1. Liquids/personal hygiene 2. Tech (charger, power bank, flash drive, cords for the different sort of plugs - although I plan to order an all-in-one cord before next big trip), cheap earbuds, and car charger 3. “Office” - pen, pencil, highlighter, small memo book, small pad of post-its, a few paper clips, binder clips, rubber bands, a 6in ruler/bookmark, and a lint-free glasses cleaning cloth 4. Miscellaneous - mini-first aid kit, sewing kit, tiny lint brush, mirror, alcohol wipes, a couple of clothes pins, tweezers, nail clippers, emery board, plastic fork and spoon, Tums, advil, and nighttime nose strips (plan to add some earplugs, too) 5. “Fabric” - a thin washcloth and extra pair of undies (these after I once spent 24 hours in the Newark airport☹️) and now an extra mask. I use a simple mid-size zippered tote and all 5 pouches together take up less than half the space and prepare me for almost anything ( although I do wish someone would make a travel size of scotch tape). At the end I add a book, iPad, and small crossbody bag with phone, wallet and travel docs.

I bring a few of my favorites washi tapes which I wrap around a small peace of cardboard. Only the first inch looses its adhesive properties, and the rest is good as tape or craft tape if working on a traveler’s notebook. Thanks for sharing your list and how you divide items up!
@lisabarter7918
@lisabarter7918 Год назад
consider just taking a refill roll of scotch tape. Every time you use it, fold back the end so you can easily start it again. Also, you can mark the inside of your memo book with inches and eliminate the ruler.

That nite ize buglit is amazing! We always travel with a regular plug in night light for onboard cruise ships as it gets really, really dark at night on the water and someone always need to make the nocturnal washroom trip. This will take up much less space and could be set up anywhere. Thanks again Laurie, I always learn something new each video.

Love the gallon bag idea for umbrella. I have bought a couple of boxes of gallon bags and quart bags to organize things and keep dry. I also got a door stop, and I have a 2 inch cowbell (stuffed for travel) that I will hang on the doorknob in hotels as an alert. I will be wearing an under-clothes security belt, and my passport will always be ON me and hidden except when needed for airport security. I used it in Egypt in 2000-2001, and my next big trip is next year. Thanks, Laurie!!!

Love your videos. You’re so charming, generous to give credit to those who’ve shared ideas and so super smart with great ideas. As an inveterate traveler who is also super neat, organized and almost OCD about how to pack I’m humbled and delighted at your amazing advice. I won’t even let my son pack when he’s off for a week with his friends - he always wants to look good but take the smallest bag so he doesn’t look like he cares. I manage to get everything in by using many of your ideas. (Then I make him listen as I tell him which pocket and which side has this or that in it otherwise total chaos) I’m so glad to learn about the packing cubes for clothes. I’ve used them for big items like pillows and quilts (the kind you vacuum the air out) but these cubes for clothes sound fantastic! I would love to have one outfit easily accessible for each of us, and my PJs for when I arrive and want to crawl into bed. I also like to keep that one outfit or a different top and pants just in case you spill something and you’re all wet mid-flight. I think I tend to travel to certain places or hotels that have more frills or services but it doesn’t mean your ideas are not just as applicable - you want to be smart and safe wherever you go. I so much appreciate your advice

Congrats Laurie on 100k....so well deserved!! Another great video! And ugh just came back from a short trip to Colorado with blisters!! I will have to try your hack on that! From now on will always have bandaids with me...lesson learned!! Here's a video idea.....packing for 2 destinations with different weather patterns. We took an Alaskan cruise a couple of years ago but stayed in Seattle for a few days to sight see. Alaska was cold and rainy. Seattle was very hot and sunny. It was a challenge between all the weather gear, having dress outfits and needing shorts. We really struggled with that one!! Love all your videos!

Used the compression cubes on my trip to Europe recently. They are fabulous! I alternated panties and socks in one cube so I could just grab and go everyday. The cubes not only saved room in my luggage and in my drawer space, they kept me organized during the trip. Game changer!

Congrats on reaching 100,000. Love your video's. My daughter who has been to 56 countries as a solo traveler has a great hack she uses in her hotel room. After checking where the emergency EXIT is on her hotel floor , she always leaves her shoes by the hotel room door Pointing in the direction of the EXIT. This is especially useful when you are constantly changing hotels in various countries.

Congrats on 100K!! Had to break down and organize/stow my travel gear! I used carryons and suitcases for containers. Lg suitcase: cruising/flying/rentals essentials, Carryon 1: packing cubes, bags, disposable bags, etc., Carryon 2: toiletries (bought storage baskets to hold dental, soaps,etc. extras) and lastly kept my tote/backpack stuff in a backpack! Still looking forward to your video to help me better organize these!!

The Bento bag is really nice, but it is large once filled. For a person with a smaller frame (5'1-120#) it can be a bit difficult to maneuver, even with the shoulder strap.

Woo hoo!! You earned those 100,000 subscribers, and I join everyone here in congratulating you. Thanks for the mention to pounce the packed suitcase to settle the contents, after which you can stuff a few more things in! I use that hack every time. Another hack I use to get in an extra pair or two of jeans or slacks: lay them out flat (alternate waist bands if more than one), put a packed and full packing cube dab-smack in the middle of them, then fold each side over the cube like a package. This eliminates the need to try and stuff them in somewhere.

Hey Laurie, I just returned from Paris & used so many of your fabulous travel hacks. Here's a few more: 1) pack Olay water-activated, non-alcohol face towelettes (light & gentle on face & hands); 2) wash cloths aren't always provided as standard linens in Europe so stuff a couple in your bag and; 3) packed a silicone liquids tube with pain/ache gels as the tube squishes into small spaces.

I have truly enjoyed your travel tips. Here’s my tip when traveling to Europe. We live on the East Coast. A few days before we depart, I wake up an hour earlier each morning. On the day of our flight, I am up at 3 AM which is 9 AM in Central Europe. I easily “slide into” that time zone and I’m not groggy or waking up in the middle of the night. Happy Travels!

Congrats on the 100k subscribers, Laurie! Your tips are always helpful and your presentation of them is always fun and positive. Those zippers (not Y2K but YKK) are something I always look for now. One question about that awesome Bento Bag - What does it weigh? With every compartment and divider, that's extra material, so I wondered if it makes it a bit heavier. That is some SERIOUS organization in a personal item, and I'm all for that! That little nightlight "bug" is so cool! You've influenced me yet again. 😀

Congratulations on reaching 100k!!! 🎉🎉🎉. This latest video is excellent, as always!!! I appreciate your advice and am taking notes for my next trip. I use binder clips to keep cords neat and I bring extra Ziploc bags in 3 sizes: snack, quart & gallon freezer - none of them take up space, but they come in handy. I also did not pack any shampoo, conditioner or toothpaste because I could buy it at a store on the way to my hotel or relatives house. I also always have a travel case of Qtips in my carry-on. I also discovered I only needed to take one eyeshadow palette that I could use dry for shadow and wet for liner - 2 uses in one item. I also bought a travel size mascara at Sephora, which, even though it was waterproof, would come off without using a special eye makeup remover. Also, pick a palette that has colors to double as blush! I would also suggest that if you've used the liquids out of your bag, and they are travel size, toss them before you fly home - less weight to lug around. I hope you like my ideas! ☺️. God bless you, Laurie!!! 🙏😊💜. Valerie from Kansas

100K !!!! Excellent & extensive vlog~ just gets better! Thanks for the call out, as my husband thinks I'm part bloodhound. Great review on the bento box & if it had backpack capability I would buy it. I'm still using my hot pink tape & lime frog green for the hubby. (Now I'm thinking a bento for my hubby to use for future Airstream travel.) That mask was genius for blisters and reminds me of the time in Peru that an Always thin pad was used in a similar situation. And now I need a LUSH visit on my next trip "home"....so helpful Laurie
