Not the best angles, I need more GoPros!! Still so much fun at No Fly Zone. Day was insanely hot (got up to 114 degrees) so I needed to turn down the boost, but here is my trip through the Guantlet! Enjoy!
Gtard? lol. Cut him some slack, GTRS are badarse and are the bigger, more evil brother to the Z. I suspect that this GTR is making a little more than 700 hp if the Z is at 640, judging by the 2nd race. I'm thinking 750..maybe closer to 800. That's a compliment to the Z. I'm a Mustang guy and a newer Mustang would probably need 800 plus to the wheel to get away from this VQ.
Not quite. Z is purposed as a driver's car, the GTR..more touring and halo with more power. That's one of the reasons I read that Nissan never added AWD to the Z, they didn't want to add weight or upset the balance they were going for. The VQ engines were not designed with boost in mind like the VR series but that's not too much of a detriment. The Z is definitely not a 'rwd naturally aspirated gtr' but I will admit, they are very nice with boost.
Lol...GT-R driver was like..."Oh,Hell no!" "I didn't buy this expensive Nissan GT-R to lose to a cheaper Nissan 370 Z!" That Z is quick! It's also much smaller than the GT-R. People gotta remember power to weight makes a difference.
@@kindafast6499 yaaa but out of box you get so much more. One of the best AWD systems, one of the strongest engines to modify, factory turbos, soo much faster then a stock anything, back seats to fit the kids and the list goes on....
HAHA! You were just like me a year ago man. I would just sit there and search for boosted Z videos. That sound is so incredible. I absolutely love this thing. It's my escape from the world ;)
Ryan Richardson Lol. That sounds awesome. Maybe i will be you in a year with a TT Z lol. You are right on, that is all i do. You know how it is. Post more! lol
Thanks man!! I was in your position just about a year ago. Couldn't get enough of these vids! HAHA! I'll post as many as I can! Going to the 1/4 mile at the beg of December so should have some new vids soon! :D
A modified GTR (to get above 650 horse power) is going to cost you well north of $100K. You can buy and turbo charge a 370z for $40K and have a manual transmission.
Hey bro! I am considering a Boosted Performance single for my Z, but scared that the higher cylinder pressure is going to quickly mess up the engine. Is your block all stock?
stock block, but needed tuning and fuel system changes. Call Fast Intentions or Specialty Z if you're serious. They will get you hooked up with any q's you have!
Any way I can find out more about what mods you have done to your Z😍. How much money do I need for the tt setup? It's an amazing car and I'd like to have a crack one day at doing something similar.
I'll copy and paste this response from the other comment: During a half mile race, trap speed at the 1/2 mile is what is recorded. When he slightly pulled, That was me shifting into 6th gear. Always a slight disadvantage to manuals, but I broke caught back up to even again after gaining boost in that 6th gear. Which is why at the 1/2 mile mark I was .5 mph faster. Which is an insanely even race. Yes I agree he passed the finish line first, but that was very much attributed to taking off early. Thanks for watching bro!
+Jonathan Pontel lol! I sure as heck wouldn't mind that!! It's all bc of the weight/hp combo. I'm much lighter than most of the cars I raced aside from the STI who had less power. It's amazing the difference. Mine is whp so if you take the standard 15% loss through the drivetrain that would put me at 750 to the crank. But I don't know that exact number for sure so I quote the whp ;)
Essentially everything I could to compliment the FI kit. E85 fuel system full exhaust, clutch/flywheel combo, ecutek tuning, wideband, boost gauge etc. Tried to make it one stop shop for everything and sure enough it has been ;)
how much money you put in to the Z to make it this powerful? I own a Z and I want to be able to make as much power as you do but I want to make sure I'll go the right way
congrats man that's awesome! Never an oil temp issue in straight drag events, but in circuit Oil temps were terrible. Even had the 34 row oil cooler. I did keep her at high rpms on the track though. My recommendation is to either find a place for that oil cooler that gets a ton of airflow, and/or upgrade to something more than a 34 row. I've even seen dual 34 row coolers.
hello Ray. the botom end is built right? can you provide me the parts and brands so I can purchase them :) also the gearbox is a 7 auto right? which mods to support this power? thanks bro. you will be my inspiration and your car is my goal :)
The STI don't have a change against a 650WHP 370Z. However he got a terrible launch.Terrible! Usually a 450WHP STI he would have won the "start" against 650 RWHP
how did you trap higher when in the video he was either still pulling ever so lightly or it was even but never seen you pull back. Do they start the time when you cross and just measure what you achieved in that time cause if so that makes sense since he started before you and had a slight lead im guessing yall accelerated at the same pace towards top end but since you were behind a lil bit you had the whole half mile he didnt cause theirs no way your car trapped higher and hes still clearly pullin by millimeters
Let me be clear - your Z is awesome and I have never owned a car with that much power. Your driving skills appear to be outstanading as well. I applaud you. All I am saying is on that last run the GTR was pulling away
LOL, it's really tough to call, I shifted into 6th there which was the reason for the slight pull but according to the slips I was catching up, by .8 of a mph which is ridiculous. Either way, total blast.
I think he just didn't understand your "dated" comment. The Z has been around for a while and this particular motor since 09. My Z is a 15 but aside from some aesthetics hasn't really changed since 09. So I guess compared to a 17 hellcat it's dated.
awesome video how much do thees Z's weigh? because to go around a GTR you're going to need closer to 800hp so I wonder how light that car is. either way they're all awesome I would pimp any of those cars lol
They say curb weight is 3200 lbs, GTR is 3900. GTR is incredible, but still doesn't get to laws of power/weight ratio. It's like gravity, no matter what, it's there.
Hell Yea!! I was rooting for your Z so hard that I almost jumped out of my seat when you beat the Hellcat lol. This is pure motivation for me to continue saving so I can buy a twin turbo kit for my 370z Nismo. Congrats on the win and the GTR is a cheater
Manual is the only way to go! Unfortunately technology now adays seems to be making auto's faster than manual. But manual is still way more fun! LOL Thanks for watching ;)
hey man, I recently just picked this car up and it’s still running strong, absolutely in love with the car already. there’s a couple things though that I was trying to figure out with it and it seems the previous owner didn’t know much about the car.. wondering if there’s a way to contact you since you probably know the car better than anyone
Gtr was ahead at the cones yes but he gave it at the same time as you and I'd love to know how you beat his mph when he was clearly pulling away from you at the end? Your car is fast but have a half mile race with that gtr from a dig and see what happens
I love the GTR. It came down for me to either get a used GTR or a new Z and twin turbo it. After driving the GTR, it just wasn't for me, mainly bc of the automatic. I love the feel of a manual, just so much more fun to race AND to head to the grocery store in. Ha. Thanks for the compliments! All of them are incredible cars, just happy to have one!
It went ok. Either need new tires or figure out launching. Quite a bit of both really. I was either spinning or bogging. My best 1/4 was 11.5 at 128mph with a 2.160 ft. Funny thing is I had a 1/9 60 ft on another run but was 11.6. Just gotta dial her in ;)
even worse. Ugh. They prepped the track so well that I launched better and held through first, but it was so cold I just spun through second. They only prepped the launch pad essentially. This time my best was 11.6 with a 1.9 60 ft. Sucks man, one or the other eh?
some but you know how the game is now? It's rare to see anyone with a turbo Z or a built sti these days. I'm one of the only built G35's driving around in NJ these days. Sad...
Hopefully getting a G35x real soon. I know its not a 370z but well, what is? Insurance on the 37 would kill me, and I just gotta have leather seats and four doors, so no can do on the 250z, but the pickup with the AWD on the G35x is great (thank you VQ35HR) and according to my calculations I should get an extra 50hp or so just from adjustments to the air-fuel ratio and the cam timings (electric VVT and VVL FTW). If I manage to twin charge it though... we'll just have to see how close I can get it to 648hp :P
@@brianjackson5732 Well it's a good thing I waited five years for you to respond before blowing up my engine on my daily. In all seriousness, those were the empty words of a teenager with no mechanical experience and penchant for talking big about x project or whatever. Thankfully I was only stupid enough to talk big on the internet and not so stupid I'd actually try something like that
@@Jay2JayGaming I just learned that my Stage II short block is ready after months of supply delays for parts. My 2016 Nismo blew its stock engine last year at 16psi - 685 whp and 485 wtq. I was writing from experience. These cars are a blast but they will also break your heart (and wallet).
nice kills man. nice ride too. but it would been different story if you and the gtr started off-the line. rolling start is different lol. but still nice kill on that gtr!
So realistically it makes 1000hp due to weight ratio and the hellahog makes 400hp. Now the GTR needs a bit of knowledge on when to launch lol.. and WHERE to good greif. Damn good runs sir!
