Over the past year, I've receiving questions about 3D Gaussian Splatting like: Is it good for relighting? Can it catch realistic shadows? Can I create collisions with it?......In this videos, I'll share what I learnt with you and answer some of these questions.
To me, one of the most exciting aspects of 3DGS is its potential when integrated with Effector Fields and Niagara System in Unreal Engine. This opens up endless possibilities for animations and visual effects.

Ooh, I didn't know you could turn a Gaussian Splat into a mesh. Can this be done natively inside Unreal? Do you have any thoughts about using G Splatting to create backgrounds for ArchViz animations in Unreal?

Hi there, you will need to turn gaussian splats into a mesh outside Unreal. You can construct the mesh from SfM sparse point cloud and there is a new research about GS2Mesh you can check it out online. Using G Splatting to create backgrounds for ArchViz is a quick solution if you don't need to relight and catch shadow in a realistic way
