Hello awesome viewers!
I'm back with a crazy parametric model for all you peristaltic pumpers out there it will fit any stepper motor and is fully open source and can be viewed and edited with Fusion 360. The only thing I would like you to ask is to not use this pump for commercial purposes... I hope you can use this in your daily projects and share your projects with me :) Also, feel free to ask any questions regarding this project I'm happy to answer.

So this is Patty's Parametric Peristaltic Pump :). Thanks for this, it's very timely. I want to build a hydroponics system which needs a few peristaltic pumps and am definitely going to be trying this design. I might actually have all necessary parts lying around already!

I love the design, I was just about to make my own for myself and a coworker to have water pumped from a cooler in our work vans. Then I see this wonderful design! I appreciate it!

Cheers! It would be wise to make a puller to get the thing of the axle I've made that as well can be designed an FUSION quite easily just with a bolt that pushes on the shaft and is screwed to the rotor

Well done. I find that making parametric models help me keep things more tightly organized, the negative side is that it takes longer, because sometimes I have to refactor things from way back that breaks a lot of thing, and the positive is that I feel less ashamed when I upload the models so others can use, hehe.

Nice design. For those that work in IT, I found a 5mm cage nut, clip removed, works pretty well for the pocket.

Unbelievable amount of detail. I walked through your video and your model on Fusion 360 at the same time. Awesome, real top class effort. I have started tweaking the design to suit my application using 16mm tube. I am sure there will be changes, but having a design so solid to start with is fantastic. Really appreciate your effort and your share. FIVE STARS to you!

Well done. For those playing at home, the hose itself has a huge impact on the performance. To get higher flow (and tube lifetime), one can use e.g. PharMed BPT which is softer and more "springy" than silicon.

Amazing! I'm currently working on a design where I want 10l/min flow and I was thinking about using 1" ID, but that seems not to be really needed with this design. I have a 390mm ID steel pipe that I was thinking about using as the pump body. But will probably build a prototype from this model first.

I hate to be that guy that asks for improvements on an already good free project... but now with a configuration table you could effectively solve the error issues by providing several variations. I think in the case of the pump their are only so many degrees of control one would need. For me really the main variables are really just the tube size and having options (between 3 -> 12 ID). But again thank you this greatly simplified the process of learning to develop my own peristaltic pump.

I understand your comments but this has really no end. He literally shares the fusion360 files and you can go back in the history and literally change everything in the design.

If you need so many different IDs, better design a roller that has adjustable arms.
@geoxal6665

It's really cool and would be even cooler, if the screws that hold the rotor cover would be rotated against rotor (and rotor cover) by 360/NumRollers. Avoids hole for set screw crossing screwhole and the screw would not be next to the bearing thus avoiding the area with litte material holding the screw

Hi, it's been about a year since I downloaded the super pump model, great job! and it was still a version with 2x3 bearings, then I downloaded a v85 with 2x8 bearings, but I had written somewhere what kind of bearings, pins and which tube to use for connecting the model, but I don't see this for this model and I'm not very friendly with Fusion :-) Thanks

Thank you for the nice model and explanation video! I'm trying to create a version with a NEMA17 motor and 685 bearings (11x5x5mm), but I run in to issues with the rotor, which I can't seem to fix, when I set the smaller bearing OD of 11mm. To replicate it, just set 11mm as "BearingOD" in the v85 file. How can I fix this problem? Or is 16mm considered as the viable minimum?
@PattysLab
@PattysLab Год назад
Hey Fabian, I've check what goes wrong. In the RotorParametricBottomSketch its the 2nd sketch in the timeline there is a dimension which I set to 3mm(d133) its a radius. If you change this value to something smaller like 1mm you will be able to patch up the model and use the 11mm berings Cheers
@chiter200
@chiter200 Год назад
@@PattysLab Hey, thanks for the video! I actually have the same issue as the Fabian but instead my bearing (608zz) is 22.10mm which of course destroys the model when I change the number from 17mm to 22.10mm. I tried messing around with D133 setting but increasing it destroys other parts of the model. Is there any way I could ask of you to assist in this matter? (If it helps with measurements they are as follows: ) Nema 17 (42 x 42 mm) faceplate 608zz bearing (OD 22mm, ID 8mm) Tube (compressed 2.5mm and and just tube OD 8.85mm) When changing to for instance 3 bearings it destroys the model from 8 Edit: Using model V69 is a little different from the latest buuuut it worked fine to use 608zz bearing in case anyone got such issue in the future
@NetworkGeek280
@NetworkGeek280 9 месяцев назад
@@PattysLab Thanks, I found setting d133 to 1mm works nicely with 624zz bearings. Is it just me or does v85 omit the set screw pocket? Edit: Pocket issue cleared. I have another warning about the rotor chamfers needing a tweak.

I chose a 18mm hose and this resulted in a 30mm bearingstackheight. So my Pump got quiet thick. It seems like the position of the grab screw hole is always in the center of the rotor. which is not the best option when the nema axle length is not that long. Maybe you can take that into account
@PattysLab
@PattysLab Год назад
You can get NEMA motors with much longer axles think about those motors with build ik lead screws but good that you made this remark :)
@ar7ickrionio72

This model can be adapted to work with a dc motor? Or you fully recommend using a nema or step motor? I need a certain flow that is around the 6 ml/s or 0.48 l/min, so I want it to be the cheaper that I can, because I see peristaltic pumps in the net, and they are expensive so I want to try if this cost me less or more.
@PattysLab
@PattysLab Год назад
You can adjust the file for a dc motor if you know how fusion works :)

I tried to download your v0.85 model and with Fusion360 I tried to change from 8 (the default in the model) to 3 or 4 rollers, but without success, the rotor was completely screwed up after 2 - 3 changes. Only 4 rollers was at least reasonable, but the screw who fix the motor to the rotor is exactly behind one of the bearing, letting it impossible to tighten. Any hint for 3 rollers? any hint for screw? (Also noticed that no hole for rotor fixing screw)
@PattysLab
@PattysLab Год назад
I can be possible that some of the lines that make up the rotor are to Short to close the gaps and make the rotor body solid. I mean it's a cad model and not a pump generator tool. There could be sketches that you have to fix in the correct order in order to use your number of rollers. The screw behind the bearing I'm aware of I tighten te rotor fist and then after I Insert the bearing Stack. Hope you are able to fix the pump in the worst case you can't fix it I can generate one 3 roller for you

Really depends on what motor you buy a DC motor with gearbox is probably the cheapest option. You can find these already for 15 dollars on Amazon if you want to use a powerfull ac motor you could like for a cheap corded drill and use its motor, gears and speed controller
